New Sony PSP in White format (portable console if you have no idea what it is).

Here is a tiny article http://digitalbattle.com/2006/07/04/racist-white-psp-ad/

I'm kinda thinking:

Nothing's wrong with them, but wth were they thinking?

I didn't notice anything until I read the caption.

Okay so whats the "abuse" this artical talks of? I don't see it.

I m not shocked actully Masquerouge, far from it. I just find it very predictable. Not sure if you followed the Nintendo avdertising campaign for their white and black Nintendo DS.

I think its a case of people seeing racism where there is none. Bad sales move though.

It's a brilliant sales move, all they need is one tabloid newspaper to stir up controversy, and the sales come in.

Just strange that they're not releasing the ad in the U.K., The Sun would have a field day with it, then probably declare that PSP's are causing folk to kill each other. Cos that's what games do.

If the gizmo was black, would the ad show a white guy and a black woman, and the words, "Portable Black is coming." ? I doubt it:lol:

I love how, of all available "features", "having white exterior" was picked.
"Why should i buy this PSP and not a Gameboy?"
"Because the PSP is white!!"

They try to make it appear racist, to stir contraversy, which so far has done it's job well considering I've seen this posted on three forums already.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't get shown over here, but I wouldn't care if it did, it's hardly making much of a raccist statement unless you want to read that into it(which is entirely the point) It's a white games console for Jehosafats sake. Not a man in a white sheet burning crosses outside a black church:D

For me the guy being born flying through his life and slamming into his coffin at the end will always be the most contreversial and at the same time funny games console clip I have ever seen, this doesn't touch it. They banned that, think what that did for there advertising? In six moinths I'll of forgotten this existed, but that advert will stay with me forever, even though I only saw it twice :)

I never quite saw the point of that advert, or what was so objectional about it. I also remember it, mostly because of all the fuss, but crucially I can't remember which console it was an advert for.

This particualar advert just looks like a cheap and deliberate effort to stir up some controversy for extra publicity. As with the vast majority of adverts, this can only be harmful to my opinion of their product.

It was an XBox ad IIRC, quite amusing too

As for this, it's definately going to raise awareness, even if it doesn't sell many more consoles. Who are the people that complain about these ads anyway?
