In 1986 I remember hearing countless times, by 2000 everyone will have flying cars. This was a serious statement.

EDIT:However if we have cybornetic implants... so gimme an ear after the eye. And a flying car. ;).

If you want flying car go and buy it. It is in the market for lot of years already.

Link me? Pretty plx? What I mean though is the statement was, "By 2000 almost everyone will have a flying car"

.

Still I think we are now close to pocket computers than we were 1986 to flying cars (I'm talking auoot mass production).

Hmm, first eye, second nose...or just a brain-cmoputer interface to leave this sphere of existence with it's need for sleep and food and its dusgusting by products.

What do we want with flying cars anyway? They would seem to require more fuel, the driver has to be more alert, running out of fuel causes you to fall down instead of stopping, and lots of other problems. If you want a private mode of transportation like that, buy a helicopter.

Geez and to think that just few years ago when I started to talk about grafts people looked at me as if I escaped from asylum...
Where was this? :hmm:

....Freeza tail
AARGGH NOOO not DBZ!!

Okay, if you did get a tail, ie. extra appendage, where would you put it? I'd put it on my shoulder.

C'mon Erik; does the calculator addition just put a processor in your head, or does it actually increase your comprehension of the maths you're doing?

This is vital to my answer!

(Sorry about businessweek being a low quality article; I was mostly highlighting our ability to read micro-expressions).

I mean not on internet. I am not the type that takes issues here. Usually, sometimes I am curious about people there. It is a possible conversation topic nowadays, not only after 12-15 beers or few shots of hard spirits.

Geez a shoulder?
A) it would do terrible things to your balance and bone structure.
B) Would look extra freaky
I would put in the only extra "hardpoint" we have. Edge-bone.

Don't have link ready, but there is one firm in Israel and one or two elsewhere, I think..

here is Moller. But I saw some more "car" looking skycars somewhere...

And there are several historical flying cars...

Ooh, pencil-think tentacles coming out of the elbows. Those would look awesome and have great utility.

What's really true is that these upgrades WILL be available by 2020, and we'd be able to afford them if we saved a bit of money out of our luxury budget (with compounding interest, and all). Of course, I also think that saving up to visit the Space Hotel is worth our time, too.

Sorry for missing that question!
The funny thing about 'comprehension' which I've noticed, is that as I understand something more, I become less able to explain it. The progression usually ends up at "That's just how it works" when I can't reduce a process further.
A calculator in your head would make you more familiar with equations and everything, so first it would increase your comprehension, and as you used it, it would eventually become subconscious to such an extent that it would be a processor in your head, and you'd have to think very slowly and carefully to realize what you're doing.
"Comprehension" is a somewhat fuzzy word here.
Did that help?

It's not your fault. I'm just annoyed at how so many news magazines send journalists at issues without understanding them properly.

I've finally decided on one. Database. Far more useful than any of the others imho and the mind is spinning off thinking of all the things that could be crammed in there.

Erik: Anarchy Online is one of those MMORPG games, which I played for a while and then got bored of / realised what a waste of time it is. It's a futuristic, sci-fi type of levelling up on experience game. Whereas fantasy games of this nature allow you to collect "uber cool" items, like Dwarven hammers or enchanted bracelets, this game sees you collecting more futuristic items, like implants, amongst other things. There are all the implants mentioned in your poll and then some. Of course, they all enhance certain abilities and many people in that game spend ages working out their best "implant programme" to offer the most serious and appropriate boost to their gaming habits. I expect the same to happen with us eventually. In that sense, it was eye opening for a non-techie like me - but a total waste of time otherwise!

Seriously, in lieu of getting the "underneath part" I want to have lasers attachched to my eyes, and rocket launchers attached to my arms. Inspiration for it can be attributed to some demons in Doom3.

Do tell me about them. :)

I want to have lasers attachched to my eyes
Reverse laser eye surgery? ;)

You have no idea how sad I was when I learned that laser-eye surgery didn't give me laser eyes!

Though I still got it done.

That's what I was thinking. Good find.

This will do it better than I can. You can see what skills are brought or enhanced by the different implants there and where in the body they go. Remember, it's all that usual levelling up of skills stuff that you find in such games.

These types of polls need to be open to the public so I can see others choices and subsequently debate their decision in the deep recesses of my subconciousness and apply my derogatory comments accordingly. Polls like this do nothing for my character, objectives, and personality on this forum.

Okay, I'll be open then.

I *think* I'd get the math processor; but only because I find that an intuitive grasp of mathematical principals is utterly useful and gratifying. My second choice would be memory enhancement; that way I can recall what I need - my unique insights.

I don't think I'd want the database, unless it was very user-friend, because my blackberry connection to wiki is pretty well the same thing.

I wouldn't, because I dislike the idea of having an operation. So I'm not voting.

However, if I have to choose 1, I would pick eye. My eyes are useless now, and I get a great amount of pain with them, so some new eyes would be good.
