What video games have you been playing? ΚΔ (24)? More like ΚΔ,Ζ,ΤΞΕ!

Fallout 3: yes I am old and the game is definitely old, but comparing it to 4 it seems like it has much more space to explore and actually holds up story wise and atmosphere wise to 4. I actually still have the dvd version but had to buy it on GOG for the sake of simplicity, the dvd version is a headache to get running and largely broken due to unsupported OS and its dependence on windows live which no longer exists. Ill probably give New Vegas a return visit after this.

I've ended up installing a mod for Fallout: New Vegas called "Tales of Two Wastelands" and a few mods to travel between the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave to play Fallout 3 with the mechanics and assets of Fallout: New Vegas.

I definitely have heard and even seen the mod Tale of Two Wastelands, don't they even have there own website? Its been a minute since Ive played New Vegas, but it was an excellent game. The addition of all the ammo types made a huge difference in game-play. I remember Deathclaws in FO3 were just bullet sponges but in New Vegas I was literally afraid every time I came across one. You have to have a decent rifle, engage them at range and plenty of AP or special ammo and chems to kill them. Typically I dont like overhaul mods but TTW sounds very interesting.

Gopher made an instructional guide for TTW (abet with Vortex).

The new Path of Exile league starts today.

You'll be stunned to learn that I'm playing a Templar.

Path of Exile said:
Dominating Blow: Now has a Mana cost of 7 at gem level 1, scaling up to 10 at gem level 20 (previously 8 at all gem levels). Now has 249% Effectiveness of Base and Added Damage at gem level 1 (previously 165%), scaling up to 458% at gem level 20 (previously 238%).

Yes I will. Send me a message in game some time. Are you playing SC or SSF?
I'm playing SSF, yeah. I'm only in Act 2, though. I think you can get Dominating Blow after you kill General Whatsisname in Act 3. I'm using Absolution and Smite in the meantime, but I'll drop both of them once I get DB. I want to find out whether Inspiring Dominating Blow stacks with Spiritual Aid. The description in the Wiki doesn't specify. It says the Transfigured version "allows the non-minion portion of the skill to be scaled by minion damage with a stronger version of Spiritual Aid." But I don't see what's stronger about it. The description of the gem says "Increases and Reductions to Minion Damage also apply to this Skill's Damage at (2.5-50)% of their value" while the description of the Passive Keystone simply says "Increases and Reductions to Minion Damage also affect you", which suggests they apply at full value. So I don't see how the former is stronger than the latter. Now, if they stack, that'd be a different story.

Still trying to beat my personal best for getting to the bottom of the mines in Stardew Valley. Currently my known record is Summer 26. I started a new save trying to get there in spring. I'm ignoring everything else aside from some basic farming to get gold for ore-cracking and possible tool upgrades.

Yesterday I started a new save in Stardew Valley with the express goal of setting a personal best record for getting to the bottom of the mines by completing it in spring.

Spring 21! I focused SOLELY on the mission. The only farming I did was to feed myself, and the only thing I did besides caving was fishing (either for money or for food) or visiting Clint to crack geodes and sell gems. 50-90 was the hardest as no decent swords dropped from monsters, but once I got the silver obsidian it was easy-peasy. By that point I could bring 5, 10 salads with me. The last day was a 15-level blitz. Only died once.

With the exception of selling gems to Clint and buying salads from Gus, I never interacted with the townspeople. Their only contact was fussing at me for digging through their garbage. Dig my garbage can 'lid'.

You can do more than just grow food?

Oh, yeah. Fishing is introduced on day 2, and on day 5 the mines are re-opened for exploration so there's rock-smashing, gem-hunting, monster-slaying, that sort of thing. Later on the player can expand their house to cook food (which provides not only energy, but buffs that increase luck, speed, etc), and there's several storylines involving exploring some distant island with a volcano and such. I've not made it far on the island.

Began checking out Sun Haven last night, which is "Stardew Valley, but with a story and RPG elements". I'm three days in or so. It's more graphically developed than SDV, but the game is slower over all -- both performance wise, with pauses between sections of the map, and delivery wise given that there's more questing and dialogue trees. I do like that there's no stamina bar, which makes clearing the area around the farm much easier. I'm enjoying it so far, but it's telling that after three days I started a new save in SDV.

On a Fallout note, I've been playing Fallout London. Like all fan total conversions, it is impressive as hell, but not as impressive as the SureAI team behind Nehrim and Enderal. However, a couple hours in it has a number of issues that bug me:
-The early game is hard and they really encourage melee combat. Plus a few early game enemies are capable of totally one hit killing you and they come in packs. Apparently fixing those enemies is part of the next patch.
-The difficulty of the early game really railroads you.
-The devs love their super detailed and narrow environments, which cause performance issues and increase the chance of you getting stuck on NPCs and world geometry. The environments are often mazelike, such as requiring you to go to the end of a radiation infested tunnel and make a 180 degree turn to proceed, with nothing indicating there was anything at the end of the tunnel.
-The devs completely forgot about the importance of color coding. In Fallout 4, Bethesda was pretty consistent in that doors you could interact were colored and background doors were a brown/grey. Here, the devs love making scenery doors brightly colored and important doors dirt brown.

I tried a bit of Fallout: London, just to see how well it works on my computer. Played for over an hour and experienced no crashes at all. I would've played more except I ended up getting killed. I do have a couple of mods installed that fix engine bugs and are compatible with Fallout: London.
Spoiler :
I did find it funny that one of the first pieces of junk I found is a not Tesco shopping bag, then I found that the British equivalent of Nuka-Cola is Ion Brew.

More likely they wanted a start date before the start of the Kalmar Union. Too often the Danes have dominated the Swedes in EU4.

I see Wales is separate from England (but probably a vassal), the two Sicilies are separate... the Ottomans could be an interesting nation to play. Hmm, or maybe I'll try Epirus first and invade Italy like Pyrrhus.

I'm up to 194 in Macedon: Total War. I declared on Pergamon and have reduced them to Cyprus, which is blockaded. Pontus and Galatia have been a bit tougher, and Mazaca (modern-day Kayseri, Turkey; in between known as Caesarea) has been a hot zone. My most experienced surviving general lead his army there, and found more Pontic troops than expected, but besieged it anyway, and took the city. The surviving troops of Pontus launched a renewed attack the next turn, but were repelled. So, their Galatian allies sent an army up, and with the remnants of Pontus, attacked again the next turn.

I knew there might be another attack, and the first defense had already been a close call - leaving the right half of our front line exposed to attacks on our javelinmen, in order to have those troops defend the rear when Pontic reinforcements arrived, and only 7 of the general's on-paper-159 bodyguards surviving along with him; only the enemy's panic after our cavalry charged prevented disaster. Thus, I hired a mercenary hoplite and mercenary horseman.

It was a good thing I'd hired them, as Galatia made up for Pontus's losses. I defended a central plaza, with traditional hoplites defending one side, sarissa-armed pikemen another, cavalry the back side, and the mob of general citizenry armed with knives the last side. Javelinmen and archers, and four ballistae, stood in between. Once again, it was a near-run thing. The hoplites had to run back and forth, helping the mob; the cavalry had to run around and chase off ranged troops, the pikemen once again performed heroically, after inflicting roughly 14:1 losses in the first Battle of Mazaca.

I think the city is fairly safe now, but it will take a few turns for this army to recover.

It's feeling like the tide has turned. While I had to work to win at Mazaca, on the whole, Macedon is on a roll. I'm hoping someone - Armenia? Nabatea, who has conquered all the way past Persepolis? can provide a challenge to spice things up again. It's at the point in strategy games where it feels like I've won or should be on the cusp of victory, but the actual victory conditions - basically, equal Alexander - are still quite far away.

Been playing God of War 2018 on PC on max difficulty and man did they make some questionable design decisions. Having a game where you can be attacked from offscreen with a directional block is just terrible from a game design perspective. The game overall is actually pretty good I'm looking forward to Ragnarok releasing on Steam in September.

Playing more Fallout London. The game gets better once you get to the first town (hint - don't follow the gang members) and get some guns with ammo; but enemies are still super lethal. If I wasn't running a VATS pistol crit build, I'd be very dead.
The game also seems to take a lot of design inspiration from Fallout New Vegas. Rather than the F3 approach of sticking most of the content in sidequests for you to stumble upon, the game seems to hold your hand on a tour through different factions.
And the game also has arena boss fights that one hit kill you - something I really hate. Doing what few sidequests there are to try and grab another perk that lets me store another critical hit before doing that mission again. Maybe three VATS crits to the head from the shotgun will even up the fight....
