Are you good at fast arcade games? Since you like space stuff:

Man I love Tyrian 2k . I remember playing 2 player co-op with my friend for like 4-5 hours straight and then listening to in-game jukebox for another hour !
I do not like that guy's attitude in the video You posted though

I decided against buying a game but I had previously picked up the OG fallout for free at some point and never played it. Downloading it now.

OG Fallout sucks but you can kill kids so I guess that's cool
I didn't have any problem with the gameplay, but the muddy graphics and interface made it too hard for me to play. Everything in the game is a shade of brown, brown, or browner and even for its time Fallout 1/2 wasn't a particularly high resolution game which compounds the problem of making every muddy. The interface is also not user-friendly at all.

Messing around a bit in Rome: Barbarian Invasion and trying to decide if I want to play a campaign as the Goths and if I want to horde or not.

I found the tone very dark compared to Fallout 3 & New Vegas. My friend (the 'celery processor' one ) said something about there was a big tonal shift in the second game. I didn't play 2 myself so I can't say for certain.

I don't have a problem. :smug:

Have to admit I looked up Garry's Mod and am intrigued

Never hear'd of Fallout OG?! What's that ? I demand links ! :D ...or it didn't happened :mischief:

But I thought you were a vampire!
Well, you thought wrong, missy!
What does XCOM 1 play like? I've never played those games or paid much attention to them.
Start with the old DOS game. An Ethereal-led raid will give you nightmares.
I got Civ 3 working and at Monarch (I think) the AI is kicking my ass early game

Any must-have mods for C3? I have the Complete edition

CCM, WorldWide, Escape from Zombie Island, Lord of the Mods, Star Wars the Mod Awakens, SuperCiv Scenario, Playground Mod...

That should do you for a start... ;)
Also be sure to check out Plotinus's African scenario. It's *chef's kiss*.
Edit for X-post:
Ooh, yeah, that one too: "The Desert and The Mountain"

His British Isles Viking-invasion era scenario "The Rood and The Dragon" is also worth a go, I've heard (I have it, but have not played it).

@Lord Malbeth's done some fun ones too.
Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire! Hegemon! Rise and Fall of the Mughals!

And definitely The Rood and the Dragon.

:agree:
Couldn't agree more ! +The original DOS game have many more cool features than new XCOM. You can have multiple bases, You're free to sell advanced tech for profit, soldiers are much harder to train, more panic, greater atmosphere ! +It is super hard ! Aliens stop at nothing , no mercy , game is super hard. I used to save before every shot when my soldiers were green.... and I was genuinely scared ! No game can beat the original XCOM atmosphere, no game ;)

By OG I just meant the original game, as in Fallout 1.

Oooooooh I see :) If You plan to play Fallout 2 , be sure to download Fallout Restoration Project by timeslip. It should be somewhere on NMA (No Mutants Allowed) forum.

I don't have that one unfortunately. I only have the first one because it was a free giveaway. I am going to at least try it right now as I'm pretty bored.

Some tips for those planning on taking the original DOS game XCOM challenge : :D

-Never, ever sell elerium 115 !!!
-Build a base dedicated to production and selling of equipment like Heavy Laser or Personal Armour - You'll never get enough cash just from the funding
-Aliens think that the flares might be grenades and run away - which is kind of funny :D Always have those. +stun rods, just in case.
-Best radar + best interceptor base on every continent , no excuses ;)
-Right before last turn (if using plasma weapons) unload all magazines from guns because if You don't they're wasted and producing them costs elerium !
-Save very often.

Fallout 1 was horrible. I couldn't make it past the first cave as I spent 25 minutes just trying to figure out how to fight rats. The interface is a dealbreaker.

There's tonnes of dirt-cheap games on GOG right now. You'd be totally spoilt for choice.

Play HuniePop

That is a surprisingly high-quality Match-3 game.
