Trying to cross the commonwealth in a vertibird and found a spot on the map that consistently causes the game to crash the instant I enter that cell. :(

Sounds like either a bad spawn or a memory leak.
Wait 4 game days or however long it takes for cells to reset? Or try finding a spot to save the game near the crashy spot, save, reset the playstation, reload save and try again?

I'm going to try and fly to a nearby location instead and see how that goes. Next step would be to fly half way (about where it crashes) and hoof it.

Maybe going through old screenshots was a mistake

Hey! None of you ever get to criticise me for having furries in my avatar.

I was able to work around the vertibird crashing bug and soldier on. I opened up a couple of new settlements and fully kitted them out. This made me run out of resources so I took a scribe escort mission and lugged along my mobile scrapping gear and made a go of it. I came back with about two dozen shipment slips and 915 pounds of junk. Unfortunately, the mission was to Gunner's plaza which meant the scribe I was supposed to escort got shredded by the multiple legendary sergeants and majors inside. I'm at level 71 now and beginning to get to into the highest tier of enemies. Weird colored wildlife is beginning to show up and it's pretty cool. I still haven't made any real progress in the story since the Predwyn arrived and my side quest backlog grows faster than I can clear it.

Coming back to Dark Souls 2 after a while. In my current playthrough I've just finished the Shrine of Amana and am only level 182 with 40 dex and 50 int. And am conflicted if I should invest into STR or just massive atunement. No FTH though as I hate hexes. They just don't make sense to me. If paying XP for magic wasn't the dumbest idea in DS history I don't know what was.

Path of Exile: My second encounter with Drox, and I guess my Gladiator has hit a wall. I was able to get Drox down to about 10% health, but then he starts spawning his Energy Shield-regenerating banners so fast I couldn't keep up with them, and I just couldn't hurt him anymore. And his big attack that one-shotted me seemed to come without warning, so he just chewed through my respawns and that was the ballgame. I guess I have to get my DPS up before I can get further with him.

My normal mode of playing Civ4 is to choose a setup, like currently I'm playing marathon, 12 Civs on a large map, and then play it as the Incas on some difficulty level that seems like it should be challenging. Assuming I win, but it doesn't seem outright easy, I hit the same setup with a random leader one difficulty level lower. If it does seem easy I use a random leader at the same difficulty level.

Obviously I recognize that the Incas are a solid step ahead of other civs.

Anyway, If I win with the random leader then I pick them again and try the next level up. Sometimes the 'warm up game' gives me insights into the strengths of a leader and I win on the same level I won with as Incas, but I don't ever get that feeling that I did even better. Well, sometimes there's a really good start, or the rival civs are particularly vulnerable to the particular style, or something like that. But I've never played the random civ and felt like "wow, this seems better than Incas and I don't see any obvious explanation."

Until now. Played Incas and got a win, but not a severe thrashing. Dropped down and drew Asoka, and won handily playing a very aggressive 'capture the nearest holy city and eradicate that civ early' strategy, followed by religion spread for financing and a pretty constant state of 'war for vassals.' Stepped up and it worked even better. So much better that I'm about to step up again and try it.

I don't remember ever thinking of Asoka and India as a particularly strong option. Was I missing something, or did I just suddenly hit on the right style for playing him?

I’ll be home tomorrow; maybe we can tackle him together or find a way for you to kill him faster. Does he regen? If so, you need to frost bomb him (blue spell that keeps life and ES from regenerating). Also culling strike will kill with a hit when he is at 10%. Drop an AW totem with it or better yet the Vaal version.

I never play as the Incas for this reason.

AFAIK he is not a particularly strong option for warring, though Spi is the most flexible trait and Org definitely has some synergy with an early conquest rush.
The Indian starting techs are meh. The Indian Fast Worker is widely agreed to be the best unique unit in the game tho.

I never play as the Incas for this reason.

Generally I find they are a good benchmark. If I win with them and it's a bit iffy, then one level down will be a good challenge with everyone else. If it's a blowout then the same level will maybe be a challenge with someone else.

In my last game of Civilization, the Incans managed to get a hold of nuclear weapons while at war with one of the other civs. I was confused on why the screen was shaking.

I always try to win the game before anyone gets nuclear weapons, AIs with nuclear weapons are really really really really annoying since they actually target my stacks in the field...

While playing on the easiest difficulty, I nuked the Persians while they were still stuck using crossbowmen.

So my move up with Asoka was a total bust. Just when you think you have a leader/strategy combination all worked out...drew an iso start. There was...something...reachable in the distance so I concentrated on getting a fishing boat to at least go meet somebody. It was a one tile island and a dead end. Meanwhile, while I was building a fishing boat instead of a fog buster the barbarians gathered their forces so about the time I saw the dead end I got run over.

It didn't look like he was regenerating. I had him at low Health for a while, which seemed to trigger an increase in the rate at which he could summon his banners. I couldn't tell if the banners grant him so much Energy Shield that I couldn't get through it, or they simply make him impervious. Either way, I guess you have to knock down the banners first. I have a couple of unspent Passive Points, and I only need to find one more Trial of Ascendancy to unlock the Eternal Labyrinth, which will let me get Violent Retaliation: "80% increased Physical Damage if you've blocked damage from a Unique Enemy in the past 10 seconds." Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any indicator of a successful block, so I don't know whether I was blocking any of Drox's attacks or not.

yeah, it may just be the banners. When I get back let me know which trial you need. I get a lot of them popping up. There is also a prophecy that grants trials. I may have it; if so, I’ll give it to you.
