What Video Games have you been playing II: Have you finished that backlog?

If folks are looking for new (well, new to them) games, GOG is having a huge sale right now. And if you're one of those anti-DRM folks, GOG stuff is DRM free.

Also, for the next 23 hours and change, they are giving away Mount and Blade absolutely free in price and free of DRM of course. No catches, no conditions. Just free. This is how Tak got hooked on Fallout, btw, a free GOG giveaway.

Far Cry 3 was great, I loved that game.

Blood Dragon was amazing.

Right now I'm playing Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike: GO. I was playing Metroid Prime 2, but the spider-ball boss has forced me to take a break.

Right now I am in a "golden age of RTS" kick and playing all the old Warcraft and Command & Conquer games. I might even fire up some Total Annihilation if the mood strikes.

I'm going to have to play through all of the classic RTS games one of these days. Have fun, good sir!

Oh I will. Warcraft: Orcs and Humans is especially challenging since you can only select 4 units at a time, so no selecting a massive blob of units and telling them to rush the enemy base. They actually force you to use tactics and outmaneuver your enemy.

Goodbye, summer social life. It was nice knowing you.

I do enjoy the open-worldliness of Far Cry 2, and the fact that it's not the same, tired, pseudo-Middle Ages Europe earns it a lot of points. I might try Far Cry 3 someday, if I find it on sale for only a few bucks. Far Cry 4 is coming soon, so maybe FC3 will be part of a big Steam holiday sale or something.

As luck would have it, the entire franchise is currently 75% off on steam, and you can have get all games with DLC bundled for 10€.
I am tempted, but I'm starting to feel really guilty about my backlog.

Social life? Just try to get food and sleep. Mount and Blade is a train wreck. My son and I played in shifts for about eight solid days when I got it, usually with whoever wasn't playing watching instead of sleeping.

I'm on a Colonization IV (with TAC) bender currently.

If you liked TAC, then you definitely should try R&R, which is essentially an expansion of TAC. Shame it stopped updating recently, but it's great and it's stable.

Booted up Guild Wars 2 again. I love the game, but wish I had friends to play with :(

At least you had good father-son bonding time... sort of?

And that's without the mods...

Or without re-staging the battle of Waterloo with 100 other people in Napoleonic Warfare.

I'm a member in a regiment (92nd Gordon Highlanders). We regularly have 200-man battles which range to lovely to "oh my god they're breaking the rules again"

"Come on, dude! What did we say about trying to play the Bohemian Rhapsody with the drums and bagpipes?!"

Fun fact: Every so often we have karaoke nights. It mostly involves 90s-00s europop.

Like, after a battle, you gather around the fire, and then, with your voices, while playing a game about shooting people, you start singing "Toxic" by Britney Spears?
