Playing without WotC ?
Probably a good idea if you don't already have a lot of ecperience with XCOM2, but the expansion makes the game much better.
The AWC is a nice bonus, but not something I would prioritize because the extra skill is random. I usually built the Guerilla Tactics School to train my rookies to the classes I actually need and unlock the squad size upgrades asap.
Then I'd build the Proving Ground to get special ammo and grenades, or Resistane Comms if I don't have at least two Elerium Cores.
Yeah, I don't have the expansion. I also haven't looked at any mods.

Looking back on it, I probably should've put off the Resistance Comms. I wasn't really in a position to move on that Avatar Project outpost until I'd built 3 or 4 facilities anyway, so I could have built the Guerrilla School and AWC sooner. Getting the Predator Armor is a game-changer, too - more health is nice, of course, but the additional item slot for every soldier is like winning the lottery.

Delve: Suphite + Azurite

This wasn't smart.

Spoiler :

I restarted my game to make 40-width divisions and things are going fairly well. I have way fewer divisions than last time but that's to be expected given that each division is almost twice as strong as the divisions I made in in my last game. But it was really fun sending volunteers down to fight in Spain, winning the war for the Nationalists with a strike north of Madrid that ultimately led to the city's encirclement by Nationalist forces.

The only problem is I haven't gotten it together in time to invade Poland in September 1939. IIRC it's November already and I haven't even started the Danzig or war national focus. Do you have any advice in terms of the calculus of when to declare war? It seems to be best to do it as soon as possible but I really don't like starting campaigns with seriously under-strength units, and I need time to fill out my medium armor and self-propelled artillery requirements because it's not easy to research those techs as quickly as I'd like to.
I don't know if I'd make every division 40-w, because you might run into problems covering every province in the East when it comes time for that war. A mix of 40-w mobile divisions for pushing and 20-w divisions for holding suits me fine. Your way will probably lead to a more fluid operational situation, not that that's a bad thing.

I'm afraid I don't have much advice on Nazi national focus timing. I don't play much vanilla HoI4 and when I did, I didn't play Nazi Germany. Makes me feel gross.

If it's anything like Hoi 2, you should declare on Poland in 1937 or something, because the longer you wait the more time they and everybody else has to upgrade their tech and armies, which you start at a serious advantage with.

I don't play HoI at all, but try out CK2 and Stellaris. The water's lovely. :borg:
I couldn't get into CK2, I always felt like I was waiting for things to happen rather than actually playing a game.

Yeah, CK2's intrigue system, while cool, still feels somehow lacking.

Well I think I just suck at the game. I attacked Poland in summer 1940 and easily overwhelmed them but now it's just a stalemate on the Western Front and the USSR is justifying a war goal against me. Every single province on the front line has 8+ Allied divisions in it and I can't achieve air superiority in Benelux even with every one of my aircraft directed there :dunno: gonna try again and try to declare war earlier I guess.

I'll also try this, I guess it will allow me to get forces trained and deployed more quickly.

Its looks pretty good for a phone game, except that the combat is somewhat clunky compared with keyboard mouse control.
Plus from the demo your forced into melee combat, I would have preferred to go in as a magic caster

Yeah, I'm just bad. I achieved a stalemate with Poland, and again no matter how many fighters I assign to the area the allies still have air superiority.

But I have absolutely no idea what to do differently. Lowering the difficulty maybe?

When it makes it to PCs I'll take a look.

Given how long it took for Fallout Shelter to get PC release, like a whole year later I will be playing on android emulator straight away
I do like the idea of base building, endless roguelike dungeon delving, I can map controls for combat but not if you require multiple finger movements, or arcade like reflexes.
I will definitely give it a play

Your iphone Xs a waits you, sir.

I just drowned a wildlife creature in pee (Oxygen Not Included). Fantastic.

Just read that Steam is going to start allowing the sale of uncensored "erotic" games on the platform. How many of you dirty pervs are going to buy them?

The internet is so full of proper porn that I don't really get the appeal of "erotic" games, but I guess some people are into that.

It's the interactivity I guess? Same reason why people seem to enjoy video games more than movies.

I'd prefer not to jeopardise my marriage any further than already accomplished by my Civ3-addiction, so (somebody else's idea of) erotic videogames are not ever going to be a part of my life (and especially not if they come *hur-hur* from Steam... :vomit: )

So I'll just stick with what I've got, thanks very much. On which subject...

After my GOG-download of Star Wars: X-Wing (inexplicably?) stopped working on my Win8.1 box a year or so back (I could get as far as the mission briefings, but it CTD'd as soon as I tried to begin the mission), I started playing TIE-Fighter instead, because it was unaffected by whatever had disabled SW:XW. But I hit a wall on that campaign a couple of months back, so I'd had an increasing hankering to go back to X-Wing — and now, following extensive Google-fu, and trawling the GOG message boards, I have finally got it working again! :w00t:

(The solution was so simple: [possibly as a result of a Windows-update] 3D acceleration must [now] be disabled :shake: ).

Only to (re)discover that in the Win8.1 installation, my active pilot had only got as far as Tour 1 Mission 8 (flying a lone Y-wing; identify, disable and then defend 2 prisoner-transport shuttles). On the CD-version installed on my laptop (before the CD-drive died), I'd had serious difficulty with this mission, eventually requiring at least 20 attempts (over the course of multiple weeks) before I completed it. I didn't fancy going through all that again, so I re-located my old pilot-saves and copied them across to the new installation — which means I'm now facing the late-stage Tour 3 missions (Death Star assault) instead :hide:

But TIE-Fighter has spoiled me: I would appear to have forgotten how to fly these slow, clumsy, poorly designed Rebellion ships :aargh: Although I've been able to skip the obligation to re-do T1:M8, I thought I'd try refreshing my skillz with X-Wing Historical Mission 5 (rescue the Mon Calamarian slaves), but right now I'm having trouble even with that.

(I got thiiiis –>||<– close to finishing it yesterday, by flying completely unshielded for extra speed — but then got toasted by my so-called wingman! :backstab: [pissed] :badcomp:)

So I fear I won't be completing this game any time soon, either... :wallbash:

So far still playing Overwatch. Though I’ve been picking up more hours on Widow and improving my gameplay with her with guides I stumble upon on YouTube.
