What video games have you been playing V: the return of the subtitle

I second everything Commodore said. I'm not sure if I like it more than Civ V (probably not but it's close) but it is different enough from Civ V to keep it interesting. It is also, however, a lot of the same stuff with some new mechanics like sea city and an orbital layer.

It would definitely help if you are a fan of sci fi to begin with.

Returned to playing XCOM Enemy Within after rage quitting it two weeks ago. I'm actually doing decent. I have four satellites up, MEC troopers are online, and recently I kicked but in Sydney Australia without my troopers. I faced 3 sectoids, 3 thin men, three robot thingies, and two seekers, and finished them all without taking losses, and only one unit got lightly wounded. Probably my best battlefield performance so far.

Of course, this game, I also lost Egypt, and four squaddies in a brutal rescue civilians mission which I failed, but it isn't a loss I can't bounce back from.

Also been playing Civ5 with the more cities mod. Lovely, just lovely. UPT is an annoying mechanic which leads to alot of traffic jams, but it isn't unbearable. I just wish my workers could stack and work on improvements together.

I have started playing on medium ironman this weekend. I thought that in second play the main concern will be missions but somewhat again I had bad luck. I lost 2 countries (USA and Mexico), three soldiers in missions so far. I have 2 support, 1 sniper, 1 assault and about 15 heavy  Otherwise Its not that bad, I have not enprisoned any alien yet but have 4 satelite rooms.

Heavy's make best MEC troopers, so it's all good.

Why is PSN store by far the most expensive place to buy and download ps3/4 games? And even way after the release of a game. Don't Sony want to compete with the used games market?

they win on convenience so they don't care. and used games will always be cheaper than whatever Sony sells them for, right? So it doesn't matter.

Because Sony doesn't set the price for a game, the publisher/developer does.

If you liked the classic Bioware games, such as Planescape: Torment, you'll probably like Age of Decadence. If you're into post-Roman pseudo-historical stuff as well, then you'll probably love it.

Simply imagine all promises about choices which developers made about their RPGs in past years and imagine game when they are real. Age of decadence choice is not choosing between A or B. What casuals should not like is awful graphics, not so action-fights and realy uncompromising skill checks.

I tried the demo a while ago and hated how the game handled skill checks. You had no idea which skills were going to be needed at a given time and if you put skills into the wrong one, you were screwed. (Oh, you mean my loremaster needs points in disguise to continue with his quest rather than knowledge? Have fun restarting a character!)
I was reading the forums for help thinking I had misunderstood the game and one of the devs was saying that you should just save before very skill check so you can figure our what skill is needed and adjust your points accordingly.

(Minor rant: It seems a lot of indie games seem to conflate "no player information" with "hardcore" or "old school". There was a really interesting rpg on steam that was set in a bronze age Slavic-inspired world. It sounded really neat and I can put up with a difficult early game. However, after reading reviews it turns out the game has no automap, a cruddy journal system, and lacks even rudimentary quest markers (as in, Bob the Quest Giver is located in front of the Convenient Tavern). Those don't make the game more fun, it just makes it more annoying to play.)

Anyhow, I'm giving a go to Assassins Creed Syndicate that I got free with my graphics card.

The price difference is so substantial that unless it's one of the few times I buy a game at launch date, I'm taking my business to the used games market. Had the price difference been less substantial, I'd have gone to PSN out of convenience.
Because Sony doesn't set the price for a game, the publisher/developer does.
Is it the same with Steam? Because they operate with a completely different price range. Even if you calculate in the general difference between PC and console games prices.

It is the same, but from what I have read on the issue, for some reason publishers/developers are much less flexible on console title prices than they are for PC title prices, even if it's the same game.

I have discovered two things about Assassins Creed Syndicate.

1) This lady really hates the guy I just killed and totally doesn't care about the dead body.

2) My assassins spend more time accidentally humping the walls as I try and figure out whether I can climb up that or not/ randomly mashing some combination of shift, E, W, and space in a futile attempt to jump from one train car to the next than I spend actually assassinating things. When I can get the parkour down it is a lot of fun but far too often I just shuffle around like an indecisive cat.
Seriously, how do I suck less at this game; or is it just one of the games that you shouldn't play on a keyboard?

Re: Political Machine 2016

I play a half dozen or more games and have slowly grown disillusioned of it.

I do like the idea of a political strategy game, and I like the coverage of candidates and issues.

But there're too many weaknesses.

There's no wiki.

It wasn't until my third or fourth game that I stumbled upon a listing of my candidate's positions on issues. Yes, at the beginning if you create your own candidate, you can allocate points to issues...but it turns out that this is maybe 1/5 of your position. It came as a shock to find an issue on which I'd moved myself up to +5 was really +64. The game dictated that for me, and how or why is nowhere explained.

I would like to see primaries included in the game. Make a candidate decide whether he wants to pander to his base by taking an extreme position, but if he does so, have to claw his way back to moderation during the general election.

But my main gripe is that, almost everything a candidate does has only an effect on the state he is currently in. Only TV ads and interviews on the O'Malley Show and 60 Seconds have a nationwide effect. It's like nationwide news coverage has never been invented. It's like major speeches are never covered. Sound bites in news blurbs! We need sound bites in news blurbs! Also, there are no SuperPACs. There's sometimes a news event a few weeks before the election which changes things in a small way.

But basically, so many election aspects have been omitted, the game is just not realistic.

Last month I picked up CS:GO, because I played CS for a bit when I was younger. The game seems rather dull, when it comes to solo queue.

Anyone play CS:GO around here? I'm looking for someone from Europe, preferred rank - around Gold Nova 1. Mind that I don't use mic, however, I type a lot.

Apart from that, I have ran out of strategic games to play. I'm looking for something like RTS or Turn-based, but with old-ish type of graphics, aka isometric point of view. I can't stand anything 3d. My favourite titles have been Civ 3 and Homm 3.

After my failed attempt at doing a Let's Play when the game I was doing (Zombi) completely crapped out on me and wouldn't even run anymore, I have finally started another Let's Play of Command & Conquer. I'm starting with the GDI campaign and will do the Nod campaign next. Each video will show one mission, so they will vary greatly in length. I'll be uploading one video a day.

I will also be doing the entire command and conquer series up to C&C 4, with the exclusion of Generals since I can't stand that game anymore. But yes, that means I'll even be doing Renegade, that halfway decent C&C FPS. So if anyone wants to check it out, just click the link in my signature.

Okay, the shameless plug for my YouTube channel is now concluded. Carry on.
