I picked up Mirror's Edge for 5 bucks over the weekend. It's fun for a while, but it seems almost deliberately frustrating. There were places where I died 10, 12, 15 times in a row simply because I couldn't hit one little thing just the right way. A good effort, and I'd love to see the next generation of this sort of action game, but I doubt I'll finish it.

The sequel should be out next year I think. Could be wrong.

I recently remembered that I had Hitman Absolution and have been enjoying the standalone contracts a lot. Cool missions people have put together. Trying to go through the story as well, but it's a bit frustrating at times.

Mirror's Edge 2 was released this summer, no? Will probably pick it up if I see it on sale.

The combat was particularly frustrating. Wish it had stayed purely parkour.

ME2 is out? I haven't heard a damn squeak about it. Thought there would be some kind of hype.

Looks like a community UT remake. That's good, thanks.
It started as a Quake 3 community remake, as a amtter of fact, but it diversified a bit.
I think the latest stable version is from 2012, but it runs quite well and the AI is a bloody devil.

If you like that one, I think I can recommend Nexuiz, which focuses on Multiplayer -and it shows, the AI is a bloody idiot.

-Breach deep underground cavern system in a haunted area, find a bunch of scary troglodytes.
-Send in militia, massacring the troglodytes.
-Now I have a bunch of even more agressive undead troglodytes down there.
-Send in even more of my highly trained steel-equipped dorf soldiers.
-Beat them even more effectively this time, dismembering them on almost every swing.
-Now I have an even bigger problem of undead limbs crawling around the place.

Oh Dwarf Fortress.

Earlier I even had a headless peasant wander on to the map, and a good while later his head came hopping along at a snails pace after him.

Dwarf fortress sounds like the dopest game. I tried playin. It once got too overwhelmed to learn the controls. Keep us updated against the limbs I can only live this vicariously.

Dwarf Fortress is the the ultimate hipster game. It should come with a flat white and a vintage hat.

Then I'm a proud dorf hipster. :smug:

You're just jelly cause I was a fan of DF before it was cool.

The answer to the undead limbs problem turned out to be smashing them to a pulp with warhammers. Guess swords and battle-axes wasn't the best choice against this sort of enemy.

Got a nice band of goblin performers applying for residency in my fortress. They are called "The Unholy Holes." Pretty awesome band name if I do say so myself. They travelled the world for over 500 years so have pretty awesome skills, and the seeming leader of the band, a great storyteller, poet, and writer had written some nice books for my library. Hope their ferocious style of artistry will affect the culture of my fortress in a nice way somehow.

I'm trying to be a pacifist, but sometimes you just have to punch a cop in the face.
Spoiler :

Replaying Deus Ex: Human Revolution in preparation for Mankind Divided which I will eventually get once it's "complete".

For a second, I thought you were playing GTA: Vice City.

Have you never tried to play a GTA game without killing anyone except the specific opponents of each mission? It's the closest to playing it in Nightmare difficulty.

And as for comments regarding my age, we'll see how you deal with things when you're close to 30, dammit.

I fired up Take On Mars for a few minutes over the weekend. It has radiation now, but it's still incredibly clunky to play. Can't friggin' walk up stairs, handling objects is a PITA, etc, etc. It's been, what, 3 years? This game is one of the reasons I've given up on "early access" games, even those whose development I want to support. Oh well. Guess I'll just wait for the final release, assuming I'm still alive to see it. We may actually get to Mars before this game is done.

I stopped supporting Early Access once I realized developers were using it as an excuse to release half-finished products to make a quick buck and then abandon the game leaving players with a half-finished, buggy piece of crap.
