Been in the mood to play 'Desktop Dungeons' 'cause the art direction is too cute to resist.
It's a lot like a D&D version of 'Minesweeper' but far more creative.

Tried to run 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic' that I found for 10 bucks in a local bargain bin but can't keep the doggone game from dropping back into Windows.

Aarrgh! >:(

Oh well...
There's always that save game 'Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption' I've been meaning to beat!

:)

I was just going to say that. :)

It'll be DRM-free from GOG too.

you can get kotor off gog for cheap and it'll run.

Thanks for the recommendation! :)

I've played 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic' when it released on XBOX but never played the Windows version.

Do you know if the Steam version of 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic' runs on today's computers without a problem?

If not, then...

I might have to consider installing the game on a older XP machine...

...skip it until another opportunity comes around. 'The Sith Lords' is starting to look enticing.

That's one of the two major advantages of GoG versions...they run. GoG takes care of adapting them to new machines.

It runs but I played the steam version and it doesn't support wide screen resolutions so it stretches.

Stellaris 2.0

Gotta love bethesda games....

Bethesda has nothing on WarHorse, the developer of Kingdome Come: Deliverance (KCD). I've put something like 20 hours into it this weekend and it is glorious but filled with game breaking bugs. Absolutely not worth any amount of money if you're buying the console versions, maybe worth 20 on PC since you can mod the couple most glaring issues.

It's absolutely fun. Don't get me wrong. It's just an excersize in frustration worse than dark souls if when things go wrong. For example, my horse disappeared from the game world completely and nothing will fix it. The entire save file is corrupted, I'd have to load an earlier save and I don't know when this happened exactly. Now compound this with the fact that you can't manually save the game... you have to use an ingame consumable which costs money and carry weight, or save at a bed much earlier. Not a problem on PC since there's a mod that lets you save, but on console? If you run into a big bug you have zero recourse. And PC isn't immune by any means, I ended up having to outlay a crapton of gold on a new horse and before I could do that my game literally turned my computer off when it corrupted another save somehow.

KCD is £35 on GOG and £55 on Xbox One. I can't even begin to work out what the huge price difference is about.

How odd to compare the indisputable best game ever with a buggy mess! I wonder if KCD will be ready by Christmas.

Definitely needs a lot of love patches but it is a very solid foundation. Depending how easy it is to mod and how long it takes to polish, I can see it becoming a must have game even if you don't care about the story.

The steam versions of both Kotor games run on modern computers, but you will have to do some fiddling in the options settings to get them to run properly.

I've been playing Empire Total War as Spain and the Netherlands and I've been really impressed with the scale of the game. Two separate AIs executed effective naval landings against me as Spain - the UK almost managed to take Gibraltar while the Portuguese took Sardinia. (Joke's on them because I was able to take Lisbon!) Having to balance my European holdings against my New World holdings -and in the case of the Dutch, my India holdings- creates some interesting tensions. The tech tree is nice and deep and trying to manage unhappiness caused by Industrialization creates an interesting dynamic as the game progresses where I can't just build all the happiness buildings, I need to try and stick my unhappiness creating factories in the same province that has Church schools.

The way improvements were spread out from the city does a good job of preventing city camping and facilitates limited war. For some factions, going to war with them just to take a trade port can be as damaging as taking a city in Medieval 2. It is also far better than the stupid stupid stupid "minor city" battles in Warhammer where I end up autoresolving and losing all of them because a handful of tier 1 units in a field battle gets cut to pieces.

Unfortunately, the battle AI lets the game down, but that's life.

This is my first game bought without discount, still waiting on GOG version (18 h now) :) In the Czech Republic its simple, it is the first game of common knowledge (maybe with exception of Mafia 1).

I am most worried about saving in the game.

There is already a mod making it unlimited, the increase in modding ability will mean that such mod will continue to exist, and the developpers will add a "save on exit" mechanism.
I'm very interested in it, but I'm going to wait a few months until they fix most of the game. I'd like a less buggy experience overall ^^

Path of Exile's new league starts in two days!! It is free to play and on steam.

Turns out Oxenfree has a second playthrough mechanic of some kind. Had no idea. Might need to change my metrics from before about playability and its worth-it value. I'm playing through it again.

Thanks to @aimeeandbeatles, I did a bunch of tweaks to my Sims 2 and can now play it without lamenting over poor performance and shoddy graphics. Before all these fixes I was forced to play on the lowest settings and it'd still run like trash. Now I have everything maxed out and it's smooth, for the most part. There are stutters in performance but it doesn't seem tied to graphic quality or draw distance. Not sure what causes them.

So I'm playing the game a little differently than I normally do. No cheats, and not just living like a hermit with a single sim. Also keeping Free Will on since I wanted to see if I could replicate the stories people always share about their sims getting into hijinks. Can't say that's been my experience so far. One sim just lays on the bed while the other never stops painting. I constantly have to intervene to get them to shower, or go to the toilet, or eat. And to go to work! Having Free Will enabled seems like a hindrance, especially since the moment I stop looking at my preferred/primary sim they stop doing what I told them to do and instead do something dumb like look at the rain or lay on the couch.
