What weapon should I get for self-defense?

You could carry a moderate to large sized screw driver. It's common and inconspicuous and you can seriously mess someone up with it big time.

Or a ball peen hammer. That's what the Hells Angels used to use.

You could always get a pair of Nunchucks or Sai and learn how to use them. Not only are they effective, but when they see you whip those out and spin them around they'll think twice about attacking you.

Shave your head and get it tattooed. And get an eyepatch on your LEFT eye.
Nobody will ever mess with you again.

Dudes I think I'll stick to the peper spray I doubt I have the strength either with or without a weapon to take on the 6'2 hooded black male and the other two guys as well.

Ouch. Or even an aluminum baseball bat. Just fling some cleats over your shoulders every time you have to walk across the shady parts of campus to prevent "crazy man with a bat" 911 calls.

Not trying to be pushy but I don't think the pepper spray will help you much either in a multiple gang attack or if the attacker is really determined. I didn't read the whole thread but does your school allow pepper spray? In some states you have to get a license in order to buy and carry the stuff.

If you get a gun you should get a semi-auto for home defense (i recommend a SKS its cheap and scary) and if you want one for carry a small single action revolver should do.

How is pepper spray going to be better than any other option barring a gun?

Even the smallest bottles have 5 seconds of spray in them. If you can hit three people with 5 seconds of a continuous spray, you have problems.

And the gun comes with so many issues, it's really not an effective solution to such a limited threat (likelihood is pretty low).

Gotta agree with Bug... if there are 3 strong attackers what good exactly will the pepper spray be? Plus it is only useful if you hit the eye, with a knife you can stab the bastard anywhere...

Go for twin bottles of Pepper Spray.

Also, make a point to walk around in a group of 5-6? maybe more, maybe less

High-powered airsoft gun?

freeze your penis with carbon dioxide and smash it with a hammer. people will think youre so hardcore no one will mess with you

Just get a taser so you can tase other people and yell

"DON'T TASE ME, BRO!"

Reading your OP, I don't know how any weapon can be sufficient enough to protect yourself against a handgun.

The best advice would be to use preventative techniques. Look for body language and eye movement. Most innocent after party crowds you see at that time of night will walk around with their shoulders relaxed and open, and their eyes should not be darting back and forth constantly looking around them. People at that time of night generally have a destination and aren't hanging out in the cold for no reason. So look for anything that may be suspicious.

Attackers always check you out first so if you see their eyes looking you up and down, that's a sign. Also look for tense hand gestures, a fist shows they are ready to fight and attackers will often show gestures of how and what kind of weapon they may use against you. They are in essence preparing to take the weapon out so if they are making something like a C with their hand, you should watch out for a handgun.

Finally, if you don't feel safe, there are things you can do to prevent being attacked. Making a lot of pre-emptive noise draws a lot of attention to you and attackers generally shun from attention. Also, walk on the street. It's a psychological factor: imagine if you were going to mug someone, would you be more inclined to mug him if he was walking on a side walk or in the middle of the street? It goes back to the unwanted attention theory. Streets are generally better lit, more visible, and more exposed than sidewalks. Muggers will definitely think twice before walking into the middle of a street to mug someone because they would be left extremely exposed and very vulnerable. Just put yourself in their shoes.

Listen to Martial Arts masters who teach their students to fight as a last resort. If you just stay alert, you can almost always avoid dangerous encounters. Remember, if you are ever feeling unsafe, walk on the road. If you do decide to fight, fight dirty. Go for the eyes first always. Adrenaline can suppress the pain of even kicks to the groin, but the eye will always be a weak point regardless of your attacker's pain threshold. Taking away your attacker's sight allows you to escape.

Is this what people say when they realize that they don't have an argument?

There's no reason why qualified individuals should not be allowed to carry concealed handguns on a college campus. There is not one damn good reason why I should not be able to protect myself with a firearm while I'm at school.

I hope it has already been pointed out to you that there are many reasons why students should not be allowed to carry guns. If there were no reasons, there would be no debate and no controversy.

Allowing guns in an environment of notorious binge drinking, drug use, and young testosterone is a recipe for disaster. And ideally only responsible people will be allowed to carry concealed weapons but come on.

Agreed, and when a school shooting incident happens, how could the law-enforcement tell the difference between law-abiding citizens and the shooters during the crucial first-response moments?

Does this mean we should disarm the US Army?

Wouldn't it be great if all school campuses just banned alcohol like they do weapons? Oh wait they're responsible adults at 21 and we should trust them with liquor and 6,000 lb SUVs! Firearms? Noooooo! Think of the children!

Then again not all schools are binge drinking drug cesspools. As long as it's not a private school and the student has a permit to carry concealed a concealed weapon then he/she should be able to carry a concealed weapon.

a quick kick to the balls then running as fast as hell is the best defense you have.

If you want to draw comparisons to the army, please draw all of them. Trained, disciplined, professional soldiers with immense oversight do not have the same freedom and mobility your average college student have. They do not follow the same rules and restraints. If everyone in the U.S. is required to go through the same training and has the same oversight our soldiers have, I don't think the anti-gun movement would be nearly as strong.

And you second point about 21 year olds being "responsible" enough to drink liquor and drive SUVs ergo responsible enough to carry guns is fallacious. To expose the fallacy, I'll just take your reasoning to the extreme by advocating giving anyone who qualifies for drinking, driving, and gun ownership a nuclear warhead as well. After all, if we can trust them not to harm anyone with a gun unless it is in self defense, we can trust them with a warhead. If you don't think we can trust someone with the power to use a weapon that can kill millions, why does it make sense to trust them automatically with a weapon that can kill much fewer people but with almost equal ease? The deaths associated with cars and driving as a by-product and not the intentional use of a vehicle. Of course cars can be used like a weapon just like a hammer, wrench, or even pencil.
