I wish I hadn't put in the Giant Death Robot option, too many people are just clicking on that instead of making an actual selection. Anyway I'm surprised modern warfare is so popular when nobody has to get their hands dirty in it. Then again I suppose most of us on these forums are lazy.

Medieval hands down. The innovations of siege warfare continued evolution of tactics and strategy are very interesting.

You've never played BF2 have you?

Late Industrial warfare.

Because of the tanks, the planes, and the infantry. Just before it gets complicated.

Close second is GDR warfare. ;)

Actually the best warfare would be futuristic warfare vs a ancient age army, or middle age army.

That would be sooo bad.

Generally anything involving swords, before guns. So Mediaeval.

computer game warfare

Yea.. wars bad mmmkay?

No, we get it. The deaths of large numbers is a bad thing, right? But yeah, other than that there is something fascinating about it. I find all eras interesting in one way or another. Heck, even the chimpanzee wars are interesting in an odd way.
