What's your favorite restaurant?

Do you have a favorite cuisine or favorite restaurant? Do you like any chains or fast food joints?

For burgers and fries I love Five Guys. I prefer Del Taco over Taco Bell but not by much. For pizza, I'm pretty indiscriminate. I recently discovered a chain called Kabuki that sells great teriyaki at a low price.

I'm not really a fan of Italian food so I don't think I have a favorite chain but there is a spot called Joe Bacardi's back in Southern Illinois that's pretty good.

My favourite restaurant is a now-closed Korean hole in the wall that made a bowl of beef deopbap to die for. I really miss it.

Beyond that, meh. My favourite chains are Subway, Dairy Queen, and Tim Hortons.

There's a Japanese/Asian fusion place I like but the quality has gone down over the past months and they're closing soon too. My favourite burger place closed last month.

There's an Italian place in Palmdale called Geno's, which is owned and operated by the son of a guy who started one of the first actual restaurants in the Antelope Valley, currently owned and operated by the Geno's guy's brother. Barone's, the original place, is certainly cool for nostalgia value, since I took girls there on dates in high school, and won an "if two people can eat it they don't have to pay for it" pizza eating thing there when I was a kid as well, but I think the better cook is the brother who struck out on his own.

I like Ameri-Chinese pretty much from anywhere, though my favorite is a chain called Dragon Garden. I prefer independents to chains, generally, but can't say I know a place with better food than the stamped out standards at DG.

Fast food burger preference; JitB, FF Mex preference, Taco Bell.

Flying Star is a local chain offering sandwiches and meals. Excellent fresh food at reasonable prices. We eat lunch there almost every Saturday. Click here

Casual; lots of homemade desserts, great breakfasts too, all day. And enough vegetarian options to keep my wife happy.

I don't really have one it varies by price point. I don't expect a $7 meal to match a $20 one.

So several contenders.

Dost. Local kebab shop, around $8 for basic kebab we get the shish at $11.

Slightly more expensive Indian is Shree. Does beer, curry, naan for $13.

Then we have two pub meals places. CBK and The Kensington. CBK does a $3 craft beer on tap during happy hour and the food is nice while The Kensington has great deals but meh beer.

To get an approximate conversion to USD take 1/3rd off the listed price.

I don't. But I used to highly like one pizzeria. The chef here has been working in pizza business for like 20+ years and they have recipes they use in USA. They make these American pizzas with thick bases.

There are only 2 pizzerias in Latvia who sell American pizzas instead of Italian (with thin bases) afaik.

Fast food chains - Chick-fil-a, Popeye's, Raising Cane's, Five Guys, In-N-Out.

Chipotle and its Mediterranean derivatives (eg Cava) are a staple of my diet.

There's a place in Santa Monica that has extremely good chicken sandwiches. When I visit LA, I try to hang out in Santa Monica for a bit and grab a sandwich.

There's a really delicious Peruvian chicken place in Arlington, VA that'll change your life.

I love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food.

In college, I was a big fan of a small plate place that my gf and I went to all the time. I'd also take family members there when they visited.

Fast Food chains in descending order:
-Popeyes
-Chick-fil-a
-A&W for the rootbeer and their chicken strips+honey mustard are surprisingly good. DQ also has surprisingly good chicken strips.
-Culvers (Midwest obligation)

As far as more formal sit-down places, I don't go out to eat very much. There was a pretty tasty Indian place nearby, but they closed down to focus on their primary restaurant. There is a tasty 'gourmet' pizza place nearby, but I don't go there often because while tasty, it isn't three times tastier than a frozen Red Baron Brick Oven Crust pizza.

I spend a lot of time in old cafes from the 60s and 70s—I’m posting from one right now during my lunch break!

Chain restaurants, I’m pretty much only at Denny’s.

I also '' spend a lot of time in old cafes from the 60s and 70s''
unfortunatly my partner is now in a nursing home and I take her out to McDonalds twice a week and although we walk past several great cafes to get there, she sufferers panick attacks if her routine is broken so the Macca's mangers now greet us by our first names
at least they have several decent baristas there nowadays and you get table service... just like in real cafes

What?

Oh Jack in the Box and
...freedom fries?

There was an amazing tapas restaurant on 'the Hill' in St Louis. The Hill is an Italian neighborhood well known for the excellent dining so Modesto's fit right in despite being more Spanish/Mediterranean than Italian in the American-Italian cuisine sense. Unfortunately, they closed 4 years back, right after I moved away from the area. Tapas are small plates of food your order for the whole table to share. You end up ordering a ton of small dishes and get a lot of variety. It's great for eating with family and friends.

My local PHO joint
Recently Yang dumpling opened up a branch here in Sydney and Iam hooked on there pan fried baos

Papa John's used to be really good. Now it's just meh. They kept the higher prices but skimped on the quality of their ingredients. Dominoes, on the other hand, had a pretty successfully makeover and have much improved. I have come to identify their garlic crust with them as a brand. It's also really freaking good crust.

They don't have that crust here. I had it in Seattle and it is THE BOMB.

We will be in St. Louis next week and probably have at least one meal on The Hill. I'll put in a vote for Modesto's.

It closed in 2016 :(
Imo's is still open :mischief:

Wait wut? I feel it's central to their brand. They did a whole advertising campaign where they talked about how much the old crust sucked and everything. What is your crust like?
