What's your reading speed?

462 WPM
82% Comprehension

I don't know if anyone has already heard of this, but I went to SPREEDER and read the thing at 1000 wpm, and it was impossible for me to comprehend anything lol.

*sigh* I was agreeing with YOUR call of BS on Erik Mesoy. It you carefully reread the three posts in front of mine (You know, the ones I was most likely responding to) Erik Claims to usually register of physical tests at 1500-2000. Which of course is rediculous, as that is something like 25-32 words per second and twice the next highest amount in thread (yours), even accounting for the fact that he might be able to read on paper faster than on the screen. Capish?

Edit: This was towards civ_king

How many words per chunk did you set?

Deathly Hallows read at >4000 wpm. What's ridiculous about 1800?

1011 wpm, 73% comprehension. :p

Spoiler :
Yeah, I cheated though. I only read the first couple paragraphs, got bored, and stopped it so I could take the comprehension test.
Taken more seriously, 531 wpm. I didn't retake the comprehension test, but given that I got a 73% without reading most of it, I'm guessing I'd get at least a 73% the second time too.

But just because I can read at that speed doesn't mean that I do. I'm more comfortable reading a good deal slower, as I find it more enjoyable (And I think I understand it better, as well). My reading speed probably depends a whole lot on what I'm reading, and how difficult it is to read - I wouldn't be surprised if it varied from 100-600 wpm, depending on what it is that I'm reading at the time.

342, 64%

I've got a head cold and I'm very tired today. I should probably try this again when I'm better...

9.8 inches
I see what you did there, and I'm envious.

As for me, 263 wpm, 85% Comprehension. I read it a bit slower than normally just to remember the numbers, and that ofc screwed up the result. And I'm Finnish. But I really am a slow reader, mainly because my mind wanders a bit... Oh look, a three-headed monkey! ...Where was I? Oh, and I think the text is too short; it's easy to cheat just by skimming and reading around the numbers.

472 wpm, 82% comprehension.

English is not my first language, and I haven't been using it at all in speaking in the past month or so, although admittedly I've been using it quite a lot in thinking during this time.

don't care, don't care.

Seriously, whatever my exact numbers are, my reading speed and comprehension are both good enough.

314 wpm, 91 % comprehension.

Though I forcibly tried to read at normal speed and not speed-read the text.

995 80% comprehension

and

619 and 100% when reading at a relaxed paced like I would for a book.

I don't believe you guys have scores that low, I am not even a big reader.

I read a book a week on average. (Non novels mostly) Friends of mine read novels that are highly descriptive in every paragraphs the kinds that make me slow down to have of my normal speed and they read at least 3 times faster than me.

I don't believe these scores.

I haven't taken the test yet, but it pretty much varies depending on the book I'm reading. Something like a Discworld book? Pretty fast, but a heavy piece of classic literature or other door stopper? Goes a lot slower.
