I'll preorder close to launch for the sake of Tecumseh and Shawnee. Don't see much of a reason to do so any quicker.

I'm expecting to receive this game as a Xmas present from my brother since it's the only item on my Steam wish list. If for some reason he doesn't get me this, I guess I'll buy it before February. I don't think I'll get the other editions. And the dlc I may wait on since that seems very pricey. I'd like to wait for a sale for that.

I'm gonna wait for a while. I have enough stuff to distract me at the moment, so I chose the second-last option (wait a year). I'll certainly wait until the DLCs have been out for a bit and everything is in one neat package. Oh and once Denuvo has been excised.

I will wait to see who is going to port the Switch-version to see if I'll bite or not.

I'll buy it when they make a True Start Location Earth map. It's all I play in Civ 6. Used to love playing it on Civ 2 also.
I'll buy it if I can make a TSL Earth map. Or more precisely, I'll pre-order at some point, evaluate if it's possible to do at release by looking at the files, then refund if it's not.

FXS_Sar answered it there is no TSL in the launching version.

yes, I wrote "if I can make it", not "if they make one", moddability is the main selling point for me.

None of the above. I would have already preordered it, but I’m currently unemployed and my wife would castrate me if I spent $100 on a video game right now. Hopefully I’ll get a new job soon and I can preorder it. Or maybe I’ll get some gift cards for Christmas/ my birthday. But only time will tell.

Never, or when the arbitrary forced civ change mechanic is removed.

Would hypothetical quick emergence of mods dealing in various ways with this mechanic sway your opinion, or would you remain steadfast in this rebellion?
In the meantime after playing a bit with modded version you could even give a chance to the vanilla game and itd new paradigm and check if it isn't fun after all :)

Long would be the list of the games which I expected to love yet I hated, and the games which I expected to hate yet I loved, for the man cannot always predict the taste of a new meal
