4 by a nose. It was weak until the expansions. Three was great. One and two were further in their own league at the time of their release.

Havent had more than a potter at 5 but it does seem by far the weakest. Release day DLC is bad. Demanding the instillation of deviant spyware is an insult.

If were counting no expansion packs Civ2 > All

But final products Civ2:ToT (Extended Game) = Civ4:BTS with RFC

I think I have to go with Civ2 for the fact that I've spent more then half of my life playing it.

Civ4 BtS.
Civ5 has potential.

[civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4][civ4]

and to everyone else

:trouble:

just kidding.

i haven't actually tried civ 2 or 3. I hate 5, and 1 just seems ancient (but i like it better than 5)

ALPHA CENTAURI!

I admit I have only played Civ II and Civ III and while they are good they are not close to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

I've only played I and II (tried III briefly but never bought it). I liked II the best but missed certain things about I (especially the history replay at the end).

civ3 brought me to civfanatics.
civfanatics is fantastic. I had a dream the other night I was hanging out with Thunderfall. He told me some of the staff bought their way on. :p

civ3 is my favorite, civ4 is the best, civ2 got me into the series. Beta testing civ3 conquests was really fun. Playing as the dutch when argriculture + seafaring allowed you to have 4 food starting capital, + a bug that made the borders a little more transparent (cool novelty), and this FANTASTIC bug that made the AI reallllly value bombarding your terrain improvements when you were at peace, thus causing wars alll the time, made for an incredibly fun game.

I remember I had 3 swiss pikemen to defend a 13 city empire from this crazy AI, playing on monarch or emperor or something. One of the best civ experiences I enjoyed. Won in the end. Then they fixed all of those things.

Civ4 > Civ2 > Civ1 > Civ5 > Civ3 is the correct order.

This is correct.

Jeez, Civ 5 is getting trounced... anyone else notice that when an established major franchise goes exclusive to steam, the quality usually diminishes? (I consider exclusive to mean that even a boxed version of the game requires steam to legally play).

Steam is very low on the list of problems with civ5.

4 has the historical replay!

5 has absolutely nothing when you win. No joke. It's just game over.

Wow, that's so utterly lame!

I'll have to try 4 at some point, I'm kind of scared to get sucked back into the one-more-turn routine though, I'm trying to make headway on my insomnia! Do people still play Civ 4 MP? That's one of the main reasons I preferred Civ II to Civ I (although by the time I started playing it very few people even played MP anymore, probably nearly noone does now).

CivIV, closely followed by CivIII. I'm curious and will follow this poll. So far V is doing very poorly. I expected IV to win but thought more votes would go to V.

this very much so
