Which television shows are you watching? Part III

Where's the love for Babylon 5 ? That show needs a reboot with modern CGI.
No way do I want a reboot! B5 is my favorite show of all time and is perfect story-wise. (In fact, while I've been taking care of my mother, I've been sharing all five seasons with her and she now loves it too. We're up to the final two episodes.) The cg could definitely use an update though (looking at you WB :eek2:)! If you follow B5Scrolls on FB, that guy has done some amazing things with the graphical elements in HD.

I'm still kind of bitter, though, how the whole B5 universe ended at WB with the Lost Tales, Rangers, & Crusade. JMS has talked about a movie or something for years, but with so many of the original cast deceased it would be difficult. I still have hope that a Valen series could see a release centered around B4 and recast Michael O'Hare. I would even take a far future sequel where Bruce Boxleitner reprises his role as a "re-incarnated" Sheridan. Or, a show centered on Pat Tallman's Lyta. As far as reboots though, I wouldn't mind if Crusade was re-done - that show had promise! Sadly, all of these are pipe dreams because the execs at WB (who hold the TV rights) have declared to JMS that they have no future plans to do anything with the franchise on TV.

I'm not sure there are any shows that I'd be excited to see a reboot, sequel, or spinoff of, just in the concept. It would all be in the execution, for me. There are some shows I'd love to see revived, with the original cast and writers room, but for sequels or spinoffs..? There's long been talk of a West Wing sequel, but I just get After MASH vibes.

I think an interesting concept for a spinoff might be the Alternate Universe from Fringe, after the two Fringe Divisions shut down The Bridge. I haven't really thought it through, though, and a nifty setting does not a good show make, by itself.

As to revivals, it might not be too late for Hannibal, but then again, it might be. I recently re-watched Stargate: Universe, and a 10-year time jump for those characters would actually fit perfectly with how the series ended, and I'd bet you could get a lot of the cast back. Life has also been off the air for 10 years now, but I don't see how a jump that big could make any sense for that show. All pipe-dreams, of course.

For Attack on Titan fans who are up-to-date on the manga - I found a spectacular fanmade video of a certain scene that I can't imagine the anime ever matching.

Spoiler Huge, huge, spoiler for season 4 :

Netflix has officially renewed one of my favorite series of the last few years, GLOW. It's fourth season will be its last, unfortunately. I can't claim to know what Netflix's decision-making process is, but I assume it's some balance of production costs and number of views. GLOW's production costs must be mainly salaries, and Netflix doesn't release viewer numbers, but I guess the $math must not be adding up, one way or another. I'm a little surprised, but maybe I shouldn't be. It isn't your run-of-the-mill sitcom. Or maybe Mensch and Flahive, or Gilpin and Brie, might have decided they've had enough. Better to end on a high note than to ride the show into the ground, I suppose.

The Righteous Gemstones.
Hilarious and John Goodman is perfect in the role of Dr. Eli Gemstone.

Aaron Eisenberg, who played Nog on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has died at just 50 years old. He just got married too. :(

They haven't announced the cause of death but he had kidney issues his entire life.

That's a shame. He was only ten years older than me. :(

I've never seen Lost, because I can't seem to find it anywhere and I'm not willing to don thy pirate's garb or outright buy it independently to give it a go. Will I like I-Land more or less without that comparison in play?
Adding to my previous answer, maybe you wouldn't like it after all.

I just found this rather scathing review on www.RogerEbert.com (and -- though unconnected -- we haven't watched any more of it since my last post).

Just saw one episode from the relatively, i believe, popular Vikings series this evening.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2306299/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1
But it´s not dirty and real enough for me, like something the makers of the movie Troy would make with one excessive budget put into the wardrobe, haircuts and looks.
I want it more gore, no, but one movie i liked, Icelandic "Hrafnin Flygur" (The Raven Flies), and THIS, this is one classic quote from the movie that have become quite famous and well known:
Translated: - Heavy knife....
- A knife is SUPPOSED to be heavy.
Oh, it was translated i see now, then i´m not needed, got it.
*Dang dang dang dang dang!*

Been tinkering enough now with trying to make one of those, what´s it called, hyperlink, clickable words for getting to the net page with it.
I wanted it purty, pretty and neat.

Not on Xenforo, which displays the end result and not the code behind it.

But there's a no-parse code. It's plain.

[plain]codes and stuff[/plain]

[url=link]words you want to display[/url]
So, Bunnicorn?

edit:yay! it worked!
p.s.:Bunnicorn link is probably NSFW

There's the ‘use BB Code Editor’ button at the top right of the screen.

I watched a few minutes of the Emmy Awards. Dreary. :cringe: These folks know nothing about entertainment.

Acceptance speeches must be banned.:gripe: They're just a butt-kissing demonstration that the audience cares nothing about. :sleep:Speech after speech = snore after snore.

My radical new idea is to have an awards show that actually entertains. :trophy:

How about: "The nominees are..." followed by a clip from each show. Then "The winner is..." Announce the winner, then as she/he/they comes up for the award, cut their sound and go to a panel of experts explaining why that nominee won. :trophy: I 100% guarantee the victory had nothing to do with their agent, their family, their network, their production company, their dog, nor any of the thousands of meaningless entities that are sloberingly thanked. :worship:

*High-fives Jodie Comer*

American Factory is hilarious. Sadly only one episode though.

Dancing with the Stars. What?! It's a guilty pleasure - shut up! :mischief:
Now that Richard Stallman has resigned from MIT, I'm hoping he might display his obvious talents on that show soon.
Hatsune Miku would be a bonus.
