While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

what program by that i mean

what did it do
It's relatively trivial to program a bit of C or C++ to read a text file (like the downloadable version of that list) and to then output that text in an edited fashion. So all this editing you're doing by hand over hours can be done by a computer in seconds. That's how we redid the city list and why that zip-file is from June 2009, not random time period 2008. I don't remember what the deal with the coordinates was but I'm pretty sure they wound up in decimal format too.

Tell you what, how about I PM you his contact information. He's almost always on GoogleTalk so you should be able to get hold of him pretty easily.

get on #nes for a bit just to clarify thingsss

but im warning you your already bad rep WILL ONLY GET WORSE if you publicly acknowledge you're going

Cool, then I'm totally in.

On the #nes thing, I return to the place sometimes, but I really don't like Kraz' policies, they make me feel unwelcome.

So, last night the first NESer game of Neptune's Pride began. :D Luckymoose, Kentharu, Bil (of SLYNES fame and awesomeness) myself and Thlayli will be competing against each other and three other internet citizens in a weeks-long epic game of spaceships and backstabbery. :D

Next time, I'll make an announcement here and say a time for everyone to join. :D This first game is just kind of a test of concept, that we can flood a public game with enough players to make it a de facto private game. :D

Here is the map. PizzaParty is Bil, Raku is myself, Windess is my girlfriend, Yukon is some dude I don't know from the UK, and I have no idea about Shadowlord Wolfer, beyond the fact that he said 'Me' in chat.

I'm definitely up for an epic AAR, although the danger is that we'd give away our secrets if we did that too much. Perhaps everyone could just post little snippets of what's going on with them, and we'd promise not to take unfair advantage of the information?

For the next game, I'll announce it ahead of time so we can get multiple people to show up at the same time to achieve 100 percent NESer saturation. :D

I am also kinda intrigued

It is Neptune's Pride. Silverlysia proposed running a game of it last year, but nothing came of it. Now, however, we're giving it a second go.

Shall I take a list of interested individuals for a second game?

I highly recommend reading Terrance's link, it's hugely informative and shows you how awesome the game can be. :D

You can get an account very easily, you basically play off of a google account, although I can play with a hotmail account as well. They don't share your information or anything, and the game is entirely free except for a bar at the bottom asking you to pay them money to support their company and gain access to 'proper' private games and a wider variety of species portraits/galaxy varieties.

Well, I remembered how crappy I am at doing games that require lots of daily play and scheduling and suchlike :( but assuming you people do manage to get an AAR going I would be most entertained
