While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

We might be delaying for a few days so that andis-1 can join in. :) Also, I think that I have enough credits from all of my wins to create a custom game for NESers now. :D

Just an account. At any rate, I'm going to make a thread so we can keep this Neptune's Pride stuff from getting lost in the huge morass that is While We Wait.

It went down for everyone. Add me on msn at alex(underscore)debruyn(at)hotmail(dot)com if you want to keep on discussing.

The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread has been established. All sorts of NP-related business and posting should now be directed towards there. I've also ripped and linked summaries of all of our games up to this point and put them together in the thread's opening post.

Dwarf Fortress. It is very addicting. That looping background music will never cease haunting me.

You should run a NESer Dwarf Fortress AAR. Luckymoose used to do some legendary ones.

(Giant desert scorpion pets and wrestling goblins into volcanoes, anyone?)

I've only just started (on my second game atm), so I doubt I could match Lucky. I've already had a pretty fun moment already:

A wave of immigrants had just arrived, boosting my population up to 17 or so. As they were chilling out in the dining room, waiting for me to get around to assigning them jobs, a wave of goblins also arrived. Well, it turns out that the door I'd told a dwarf to install a month earlier was still sitting in a pile somewhere, so the goblins just walked right in without me realizing it. Although they did fight back somewhat, the immigrants basically got massacred. Luckily I had a strong wrestler with armor that wasn't too bad, and he bravely threw a couple of goblins at a wall and chased a third one out.

I watch the chase for a while, then finally I go back to do some exact damage assessment. At that moment, the miner I'd sent on some exploratory mining comes up from the sleeping quarters, running around wildly. He's on fire. So's most of the sleeping quarters. He proceeds to also start fires in a couple of stockpiles before he finally collapses. Turns out he accidentally ran into some magma.

Well it so happens that miner had a lover and due to his death, the destruction of her bedroom, the fact that her cat is on fire, the smoke, my unwise decision to prioritize magma-finding over beer-making, etc, she throws a tantrum. She happens to be quite a strong dwarfess so she manages to break a chest and arm. It doesn't take long until every dwarf in the fortress is either burning or tantruming.

My wrestler eventually returns, expecting a hero's welcome. He finds a mass of burning, mangled corpses. His cat, which had been following him the whole time, jumps right into the fire, with predictable results.

Its not about being awesome at the game, just a humorous AAR with pictures and dwarves named after ourselves :)

Hows it hanging kkmo?

hey Abaddon. Oh, ya know - School is a real killer, but it's summertime!

Going to revive anything, mod anything new perhaps?

I think I went overboard with my Asian-themed Sekai and anywaysss that kind of fantasy isn't appealing to me right now. If I come up with something new, it'll be something historical fiction. :)

Dwarfess is not a word. Female dwarves still prefer being called Dwarf.
