While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Why even communicate the idea in these crude written words when we can transmit them through the hypospatial etherium?

Do any of you read ASOIF? If so... Something just clicked for me.

What do you all think of the possibility of
Spoiler :
Jon being Lyanna Stark and Rheagar Targarean?

Jon's parentage has been widely agreed upon since 2002.

I hope GRRM pulls the rug out from under your feet by making him nothing but Eddard's bastard.

This question is put to rest with some finality in "A Dance with Dragons".

Jon snow's parentage and its role in the ongoing story was clarified in the latest book. Is that what you wanted to know, or do you want a spoiler post?

What.

Maybe I completely missed, like, an entire chapter, but

Spoiler :
Jon's parentage was never addressed in a more definitive way than it has for the past four books. Whoopty-doo, some lord says that Jon's mother was the Sisters' girl. Edric Dayne said she was Ashara, and blah blah blah.

While, on the other hand, the evidence for R+L=J is still just as present as it ever was.

Is the theory true? Mayhaps. Mayhaps not. But you can't claim that the presence of one more scrap of contrary evidence is the nail in the coffin.

Why even use matter? Start thinking out of your boxes sheeple!

Exactly, Scientology aliens could have been building such crafts for eons in spirit form.

While we're on the topic of open-mindedness, Picking up the Pieces, three updates in and still strong, has never been inside of a box, wouldn't even recognize a box.

Fresh start, Kiev and Austin, the Militant Grammarians of Massachusetts, FARC militias are all plenty playable NPC's, or start your own faction to help reclaim Earth after a devastating alien invasion.

If you wanted to play as Dolphins, we would probably have to have some conversations about the mechanics of it, but I'd probably let you play as Dolphins who had cast away the Primitivist philosophy of their species. They would probably have to recruit others to do their dirty work, but it could be done.

That level of open-mindedness.

Hi guys, fairly new NESer here. I just thought this would be a good place to ask a question. I was thinking of starting a NES sometime soon. How long in total does it take to finish an update for your NES? Thanks in advance :)

I spend 15-30 minutes on pieces every couple of days for however long it takes the slackest faction to send orders and call it a wrap after 2 weeks.

On Update day I spend about an hour doing stats and map.

The way pieces works I spend more time doing NPC diplo.

Depends on the NES. I had rules that were fairly heavy on mod intervention and such and I blocked out a whole day for mine:
  • Sleep (eightish hours)
  • Goofing around (tennish hours)
  • Research (fourish hours)
  • Actual writing and stat-updating (twoish hours)

It usually takes me about 6 hours of solid work to finish off one of my updates for GalaxyNES. That time is a mix of going through the stories, formulating a plan, writing it, editing it, and altering the map as I go along.

I alter the map each time I write something. While updating, I keep open a word document holding every update I've ever written (with my notes and annotations at the bottom), a GIMP image showing my full current map, a GIMP image showing the maps for every update I have written thus far, and a page of my NES whose stories I'm summarizing and referring to.

When I am actively modding, I spend about 25 hours over 3+ weeks.

For me to say more would reveal, and probably ruin, a big piece of the "Dance with Dragons" story for those who have not read it yet. If you don't care, I will send it in a pm.

I... have no idea what you're talking about.

Spoiler A Dance With Dragons/A Song of Ice and Fire :
Aegon in no way, shape, or form derails or confirms R+L=J. Of the other PoV characters, Davos' encounter with the Sisters has already been covered, Melisandre has some vague visions, Bran says nothing, Cersei and Jaime say nothing, Dany obviously knows nothing, Barristan knows nothing, nor does Tyrion, Quentyn, Asha, Areo Hotah, Arya, Victarion, Varamyr, Kevan. EDIT: Or Theon.

I have just covered literally every character in the book. None of them say anything definitive.

What are you talking about?
