I created a new forum an about 80% of nesing registered. We even started a few nes. I believe eq considered porting his twtud nes. The ban was obviously overturned, an turner shifted away from nesing. So I closed the forum an we came back

A.) It's really quite simple actually. The host creates the world to play in and plays the first 10 turns, posts a summary of what happened in those 10 turns along with the file of the saved game. The next person to play downloads the file and plays the next 10 turn and posts a summary...and so forth until all the other players cycle through and the game keeps on going. It doesn't even have to be 10 turns per player.
B.) I haven't played Civ3 in forever so I'm just as likely to be terrible and bring the empire down to it's knees, but that's just the fun of playing. Besides we'll have pros like Daft and others to limit any possible damage.

I've always found the necessity of tuning guitars for different songs to be rather cumbersome. Regardless of presumed quality, you are clearly more adept at singing than I am.

That's patently untrue! Most of Jason Mraz's songs are pretty much impossible for me to sing because he has an amazing vocal range.

For example, for "A Beautiful Mess," the verse (You've got the best of both worlds/You're the kind of girl who can take down a man...) is doable for me, because it's sufficiently low. But as soon as he kicks into the chorus (Well it kind of hurts when the kind words you write/Kind of turn themselves into knives...), as soon as he hits "kind", his voice ramps up in pitch and my voice usually ends up cracking rather unpleasantly. It's the opposite position for a friend of mine; the verse is too low for her but the chorus is fine.

It is both very sad and very funny how many people have felt the need to pathetically out e-wang kraznaya's sarcastic post. If there is anyone who cares how many instruments or languages any of you are capable of, I haven't met them.

It was a question and I answered it, and now the Lord of Elves and I are having a nice discussion about music! It was a good prompt.

I didn't do singing long enough to get into "modern", music, and if I recall correctly the class consisted mostly of conveniently-un-copyrighted showtunes.

You said you play the guitar as well, might you play the piano? I've only been playing the guitar as of recently (a few years back), but I've played the piano for much longer.

One thing I don't understand is why people have to take things so seriously. A relevant example of this is the obvious competition going on in here by different people trying to outsmart/outinsult/out-be-fancy one another. I mean *. One of the things I really enjoy is a good intellectual debate/discussion. But * if I'd go and turn that debate between two differing points of view into a conflict between two (or more) people. I mean, why the * would you go and ruin a discussion on Ireland with things like "Oh, you're just a *ing Brit-nationalist/Irish-nationalist; your argument is completely invalid because you obviously have personal issues" (obviously in more elegant words, but still with that basic gist).

Oh, did I not mention this? Yeah, I've played the piano. I had a piano teacher in my youth, then I quit during high school to spite my parents, and this summer I've been trying to pick it up again.

Here are the classical songs I am working on (I'm also aware that those aren't the full names but whatever!):
Mozart - Sonata in C Major
Beethoven - Sonata in F Major
Grieg - Wedding Day at Troldhaugen
Schumann - The Stranger

Out of these, my favorite is definitely Grieg's Wedding Day. I love the Romantic period! The baroque is too simplistic, and classical too rigid, but I forgive those periods their flaws because piano was still being developed. Contemporary music on the whole is pretty weird too, what with atonality and polytonality. I recognize that all new developments seem odd to "the establishment," but that doesn't have to mean that I enjoy the new motifs being developed!

Oh, and before I sound like a music snob, I'm really not. I hardly listen to classical music, though I'm trying to listen to more, and other than these are are various pop songs that I've found the sheet music for. For example, "Don't Stop Believing".

I'm still pretty proud of being able to play Pink Panther/Star Wars theme/James Bond theme, but that ability may have atrophied over time. On the subject of contemporary music as a whole, most pieces of music sound the same to me now.

Seriously though, contemporary music can actually lead to some really lovely things if well-executed, but it's extremely difficult to write good non-tonal music. So what you usually get are the dime-a-dozen crappy songs where they try and make your ears bleed.

@LightFang only half? The Polar Star is the default weapon, right? I don't know any Machine Gun but I felt proud of myself for finding the Bubbler weapon.

Yeah, I know, but I think it's just really hard to do things like that. I mean, I've heard some Philip Glass and he's pretty good, but as a whole I haven't heard that much contemporary music. Maybe I just need to expand my horizons. I don't really like hating on entire genres or periods of music. I mean, I said I dissed Baroque and Classical music, yet I'm still playing Mozart and I'm thinking of picking up Bach, since everybody loves that guy.

Oh, you can trade your Polar Star in for a Machine Gun if you talk to Curly. And yeah, the Bubbler lvl. 3 is pretty neat. Nobody gives it much love.
