While We Wait: Part 2

You diss NESing here? Lucky my friend, it is YOU who need to leave.

The NES is a nice console though.

I preferred the mega drive

The best console ever made is without a doubt the SNES. Though I did like the N64, Saturn, Ps2 and Gamecube. The Xbox's really make me sick.

Nah. I liked the Xbox, I like the Xbox 360 too. I'd get a PS3 if I had the money. I dont like anything to do with nintendo though I can't stand em.

Where the hell is Azale?

Did you get Halo 3 yet? I was thinking of staying up but I guess tonight will be just as easy. It's not like they're going to run out.

Its out tomorrow in England, I pre-ordered it apperantly the shop is opening at midnight for 2 hrs, then opening early at 7am which is no good for me considering I have to be at work for 6:30 . I'm not expecting much, halo2 got pretty stupid after they flung some crappy story at the series.

Are you on crack?! I can't find a copy. Even though the only reason I am getting it is to play with my friends and to finally end the series. Halo 2 was a disappointment to me. But Halo 1 was amazing.

Nothing compared to Bioshock though.

Almost a quarter of my school's students (most of them seniors, natch) were "mysteriously sick" today. I wonder why...:p

I liked the gameplay of multiplayer Halo 2 more than Halo 1. Though I've only played the game a few times at other peoples' houses.

Far and away Halo > Halo 2 for MP. I don't care if the Pistol was superpowered. Ban it. Halo 2's duel-wielding mechanism was horrid (especially as you get 2x SMG or Needler most of the time--and they both suck at anything like CQB), and more often than not it was "Find the sword!" More than anything its stages sucked balls. The only thing of any value at all was Coagulation, which was just freakin' Blood Gulch.

Then again, I thought Boarding Action was one of the greatest stages in any FPS ever (sniping [Pistol, Rocket Launcher (!), Sniper Rifle, anything really] was great because there was so much space; CQB was great because of the tension it built because of the radar playing tricks on you), so I might be crazy.

But Halo 2's MP stages still suck. And I never even owned either (or any kind of X-Box).

And on that note, [Yahtzee] > [you] ∀ [you].

Halo is overall crap. It's an FPS. An FPS where you kill aliens. Must be the only one ever made.

Metal sucks. It's all angry and yelling. Anybody can be angry and yell. Rap sucks. Any moron can rhyme. StarCraft sucks. Look, you marshal units around just like every other RTS. Star Wars sucks. It's another space opera with a grizzled veteran, a new guy, token lady, and a talking thingy in a beat up ship. Europe sucks. It's full of whiny people just like any other continent.

Hey, look, I too can insult anything based on arbitrary preferences and comparison to other similar objects! Isn't that fascinating?

Symphony and his angry rants suck. Anybody can rant. Though the difference is that indeed rap, starcraft and star wars suck while metal and europe does not.

Your display of superiority has been noted. Still Halo is the single most overrated piece of software that has ever graced a digital medium. The only pioneered concept worth noting was that you could only carry two or three weapons at one time.

Half-Life 2's only significant pioneering contribution was the Gravity Gun. StarCraft's only significant pioneering contribution was 3 sides. Homeworld's only significant pioneering contribution was full 3-D space combat (in an RTS). Deus Ex's only pioneering contribution was... oh, wait, it didn't have any, it was basically an updated System Shock 2, and so is Bioshock. And Supreme Commander is in the same boat as it's just Total Annihilation with StarCraft's only innovation and some pretty graphics--kinda like Alpha Centauri is Civilization 2 dressed up all funny with customizable units. Spore is a self-admitted compilation of different games that are just interesting because other people's works are downloaded to kill yours.

Oh, you mean to say there's really no such thing as a revolution in gaming? How fascinating. Your argument remains superfluous because all those titles are only famous if at all for their presentation and execution rather than some new gimmick? Incredible.

You want to argue that Halo has horsehockey presentation and execution, fine. I will agree that the moment they introduced the Flood it became Doom/Quake. But that's entirely tangential to the point of Multiplayer, now isn't it? It's not even terribly good Multiplayer compared to certain other games, but that's also tangential, because we weren't talking about it in comparison to other games.

N...E...S

But INES is pronounced ines, like the iberian name (forget from Spain or portugal, so Iberian works.) AFSNES is A-F-S-N-E-S, since it doesnt flow as a word. LINES is lines.

I am a neser, but N-E-S.

Weird, I know.

I'll have to say, although none of them were pioneers of the genres, (That goes to the first well executed games of the genre) they innovated gaming in ways which weren't seen before. Can you imagine Civ without a mini-map?

An FPS without various weapons?

A horror game with only barbies?

If it weren't for all the innovations that games brought collectively into the genre, we would still be playing Tetris, for all other games would pretty much suck.

I'm a N-E-S-er, and I pronounce it L-I-N-E-S... in fact, I believe I simply sound out every letter for nearly every name. :p
