While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

I'm going to change the subject, sorry.

I really wanted to see Prometheus yesterday but the girl I went to the movies with said it was too scary so we went to the Snow White one.. :( It wasn't bad, just not the awesomeness of Prometheus.

:C :C :C :C

I shed a thousand thousand tears for you. While Prometheus wasn't so awesome it blew up my mind, it probably was the best sci-fi film I've seen all year. Totally worth seeing it in IMAX. The 3D isn't even obnoxious!

edit: Also wasn't Snow White really, really bad?

At one point I am reasonably certain Charlize Theron stared into the camera and whispered "I want you to bring me Snow White alive," dramatic pause "or alive." It's bad. Awful, even.

Just found out about Civ5 Gods & Kings. I think I like how they are doing religions, with certain bonuses that the founder chooses, some of which apply to any foreign converts too - application for NESing??

Still never actually played Civ5, just found this interesting.

Well, I think I was doing that for my NES. For example, quite a few religions choose "Theocratically Bloodthirsty" and have done rather well. :/

Hey, we're not theocratically bloodthirsty!

Just bloodthirsty.

I second Optical's statement, with specific reference in my case to Takarzi, BLOODY HANDED GOD OF WAR. :)

And Daft, I haven't checked it out, but I've been enjoying Civ5 (played it a few times recently) and it might be able to work in an NESing context. I've considered running NESes inside games of Civilization before- and your arguably most famous NES is set in one of those for Civ 3, so we do have some proof of concept.

Iggy thats an interesting idea! I was actually just thinking about applying the same bonus system to religions in NESes, and letting players add bonus effects, and the dynamics when another player chooses to join that religion to get the bonuses, except the founder of the religion can add extra things at a later date that may shake things up again, etc etc etc. And if this could extend to the creation of political systems in later years.

It's not a bad thing. It's just that there are only several ways to write wars interesting, and I haven't had enough times to recycle any of them yet.

Ah, I see Terrance. The ante just has to be upped with every consecutive entry in bloody wars it seems.

Hey guys my people worship their ancestors in a peaceful way oh wait somebody killed them all :(

Internet etiquette question: is it okay if a gay man makes gay jokes on the internet? Would other (nongay) people be offended?

If you need to contextualize it (in text), you're probably going to offend somebody.
