Good luck! Tell me how the new format feels
Well, I'm almost completely new to organized play. The only other thing I went to really was the Return to Ravnica Prerelease. Went 3-2 in the singles sealed and 2-2 in the Two Headed Giant sealed thing.
But yeah, since I don't spend huge amounts of money getting the best cards and stuff, I got railed pretty hard. Had pretty bad luck with my opening hands, and my deck wasn't that great to begin with. I was playing White/Green Humans, except without many of the cards that make that kind of deck effective

Got into a stalemate with a guy first round until he took control of my only good creature two turns in a row and swung for some serious damage. Second round there was a guy that seemed kinda new to it like me, except he still had some cards that were decent (I have yet to pull a ******* Rancor

) So he beat me. He played more removal than I had creatures, plus I got swamped in mana.
Third round I got really aggressive against a guy with a token deck. It kinda took him a while to get the ball rolling, but once he dropped Tostani I pretty much hit a huge roadblock. Starts populating everywhere and soon I have six 5/5 wurms trampling over me

He gave me two free Mayor of Avabrucks though since he saw how my deck really wasn't that great.
Fourth round one of the guys dropped, so I won automatically
Although my deck was pretty crappy, I do have a somewhat tenuous grasp on the metagame I think. Thragtusk is EVERYWHERE, with Restoration Angel right behind it. I hear that there's lots of people sideboarding zombie-hate, but there were no zombies at the FNM I went to. Lots of Cavern of Souls to make countering hard, but I did see a couple control decks put up good fights.
But yeah, I got steamrolled every game. It was a learning experience though, and I still had fun. I think I'll stick to Sealed and Draft where I'm on a little bit more equal footing with people
