As a general question, from what I've seen so far of CI, the stories are mostly related to political treatsies and such and not a whole lot of other varieties. Is there a specific reason behind this? As I would love to write a story for CI, but do not know how to set it up.

You can write about whatever, but because EQNESes tends to move rather fast (he is usually amazingly consistent compared to most mods) most players try to do stuff that is "immediately applicable", like treaties, histories, ect.
However, there ARE very good stories, both inspired from updates (see Circuit's Olympic Series from the 1st NES) as well as update inspiring (see some of the "Book Exerpts").
So you can write (like any NES) however you want. From the POV of a normal citizen? Go ahead. Athlete? Bum? Soldier? Go ahead.
However, CI also has update sections for Sports and Culture, and you might try your hand at some of those. You can write stories for them in thread, and you can also send ideas for books, movies, or cultural movements in your orders. I sent several Cartoons and Books over my brief stays at CI, and about 3 of them got update recognition. I've also noticed a dearth of Political Cartoons recently.
EDIT: This is from an on-off EQNES player. I welcome actual veterans (or EQ himself) to shed more light.
Right now, I started an Story Arc about a Floridian Crisis 4 years in the making, which will include more stories from Johnston's, Progressive, Proletariat POV's as well as a "Laundry List" of the United Front and Progressive Party Manifestos to match Johnston's world-wide announcement.

Ah, I see now. Thanks for the help on clearing that up Terrance, really sheds some light on the subject, as I do have an idea given the recent updates in the CI thread, and I'd like to write a story, or at least ask EQ if elections are going to be held in Portugal in order to allow the government to change hands, or perhaps create a new party.

EDIT: For a sample of my RL scheduel, the next hour I have to finish cleaning up stairs (this continues form 2 hours in the morning). Then after dinner mom and I will drive a couple hours so I can get my 50 hours by the time of the driving test. I'll be hard pressed to do the N3S orderset BEFORE this, although I will try.
EDITEIDT: I will post in thread when I start judging (which will also note orders hard cutoff is when I'm done). I am deliberately allowing straggler order senders in late, because I have a hard -1 confidence for all of'em.

My regrets to everyone who was going to talk about the Mortal Engines NES tonight that was in the works, my grandfather fell and gashed his head open, he's being taken to the Emergency Room right now, and I will not be able to talk about things tonight unfortunately. Terrance, if you are reading this as well, I need an extension till tomorrow for both story and orders as well.

Hi guys. I promised myself to not get on CFC today until I finished my homework.
FYI, I just failed. :3.
But anyways, I like what I've experienced so far, so from now on I will do the same EVERY TUESDAY. So before I use up more of my study time, I'm logging off.
EDIT: I can't do this every day because then I would be too tired to NES, and I have LOADS of "unnecessary" homework I can do while half-asleep anyways.
EDITEDIT: OMG, Cfc is like crack. I'M STILL HERE. Now, I am definitely off.
