I think The Book of Eli is completely amazing and the people that claim it's a religious propaganda movie should stick it and think of the undertones as in-universe laws. I found the story and tone amazing, the acts extremely engaging - I mean, even the bad guy, he could be considered very average as a stereotype, but he's just so damn cruel and you just get him anyways - and those two creepy people in the cabin that <spoiler> and serve creepy tea? Even if they were horrible people, I felt a lot of pity for them. Also, the imagery is beautiful and the ending is "OMG DID ALL THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN WHILE -- SERIOUSLY HOW AWESOME IS THIS -- OMG"

the above post was typed horribly but even if you dislike stupid people such as me, watch the movie.

i'm not sure whether it's that intelligent, but... it's just good.

I also want to say I appreciate Angst's comments on Book of Eli, and I am filled with wonder by Symphony's Minecraft pics. I hope to get on the server this weekend.

An update on my life: things have been a little stressful, and very spiritual. I feel like I'm breaking through boundaries that I have trapped myself within for quite some time. My days of self-sabotage may be coming to an end, as I begin to embrace myself as an unconditionally loved and supported and vital aspect of the infinite universe (true story). Meanwhile, that job interview was postponed from last week to tomorrow (Friday); it's actually not too stressful because I've already met the company once before, and was offered a web design role that was never approved by management in the end, though apparently they have some new roles now. Anyway, work on updates will commence again shortly...

I just tried the EU4 demo. Laggy interface, couldn't find anything interesting to do (yes I have played EU3), and then lost the ability to scroll the screen or zoom out. Will try again later.

Basically, though, people complaining about 'bad graphics' and 'inaccessibility' have ruined the series for me. I've not yet had anywhere near as much fun since the peak EU2 experience +mods; the interface worked, nothing was fiddly or stretched / squeezed, nothing felt awkward or blank.

Perhaps its just me, with my background in early 90's games, that fines a certain pleasing aesthetic in 2D art. I don't need the map to be a 3D model. Its not essential to be able to alter my overhead view by 5-10 degrees, thus increasing resource load by an order of magnitude, and completely screwing up the whole interface, in order to play a game that is based in a fundamentally flat world anyway.

^^ Just this with some extra gameplay features, balancing and improved AI would have been fine thx.

I discovered it when a classmate gave it to me because he had had it piling up dust on a shelf for ten years. Yeah, I started playing EU2 two years ago, and it's more fun than EU3, IMHO.
