Defense man, defense.

Are you saying those teams had six hall of famers on the offense (with Roger Craig) because I find that hard to believe.

Montana and Rice, Craig if he makes it...who else?
Yeah we X-posted. I had to go back and issue a correction.

1. Rice
2. Montana
3. Lott
4. Charles Haley
5. Young (wasn't a starter for the back-to-back Superbowls)
6. Craig (if he makes it in this year)

Kinda puts it in perspective though how good that team was... Kinda like an NCAA team having 6 guys get drafted into the NFL in the first round.

See, that kinda puts into perspective how good that Kansas City defense was fifty years ago. As good as that SF team was you are stretching into contortions to get six altogether; they had six just on the starting defense.

There isn't even six. Craig isn't in yet. No contortions needed.

In other news... I just heard on NFL Network that Jimmy G has the NFL'S best completion percentage.

Either they lied or you are suffering from wishful hearing. There's this guy named Drew Brees...

kyle shanahan offenses and laying an egg in the 4th name a more iconic duo

And just another day for Kansas City's offense. If it decides to put 21 on you in a single quarter there's nothing you can do about it. Super happy for Andy though.

Yeah I had nothing against the Niners but I was rooting so hard for Andy to finally get one after all these years. Just seeing him so happy like that was heartwarming.

Ton of credit to the Chiefs D too, they really turned it on in the second half of the season (they actually gave up fewer PPG than the Niners D this year) and kept them in this game

Mahomes still has 2 years left on his rookie deal. As such, i.think it's reasonable to say.they still have a super bowl window. While I'm not celebrating the result as it would be lame, the vast majority of Seahawks fans (at least the ones on reddit) are.

Edit: jesus, that was messy. My laptop basically stopped working so now I can only post from my kindle. Expect a lot more of that from me for the time being, sory.

Anyway. KC is going to win. I'd explain why, but that might sound like lame hedging. So KC. Period.

This is where I get to spike the football in the endzone, right?

And I'm sure they're taking abuse for the gutless time management at the end of the first half.

Chiefs. I don't believe even the 49's can keep them from scoring enough points to win. We'll see who the turnovers favor since that's the most unpredictable.
Called it. ;)

This is the part I understand the least. They played super conservatively like that near the end of the half. But then they're up 10 in the 4th and still just slinging the ball? Then they got the ball up 3 with 6 minutes left, run for 5 on first down, then...throw it twice??? I just don't get it.

As I said, the way to beat SF is stack against the run and dare Garapollo to beat you. A lot of teams this season saw a couple successful pass plays and backed off, but the Chiefs pretty much played run first throughout the game. When the defense stacks against the run you have to count on your quarterback to make some plays and you have to call plays for him to make. Shanahan called the plays to be made, against a defense that was tilted in favor of them being made. The fact that they weren't made says something, but what it says isn't anything about the play calls.

The only time the Chiefs didn't play run first was at the end of the half when no amount of run game success would beat the clock. Shanahan looked at his quarterback and a pass stop first defense...and folded. He has about as much respect for Garapollo's chances in that situation as I do.

Then why didn't they trust him at the end of the first half.

This wasn't the first time Shanahan went pass-happy with a 4th quarter lead in a Super Bowl. But will it be the last?
