Will there be war with Iran?

Israel has had the bomb for some time, and hasn't nuked Iran... nor have they been shouting about it.

Not the same for Iran.

When has Iran ever talked about nuking Israel?
Is this a serious question?
Google has the answer if so.

And how many times has Israel threatened to bomb Iran now?
Pre-emptive nuking? None that I know of... maybe some general talked out of class one day... but the government's stance has never been to pre-emptively wipe Iran off the map.

Yes it's a serious question. All I see are threats by Iran to hit Israel back if they attack. Maybe you could help me out.

Why does it matter if it's a nuke or not? Israel has clearly threatened aggressive action several times.

Civver's right. Actually the official position of the Iranian government is that they don't even plan to develop nuclear weapons, much less use them. You can distrust them on that matter or not, but that's their official position.

Many hawkish people here seem to run under the logic of "Iran's bad because they will do bad things, and I know they will do bad things because they're bad".

How can Iran shout about nuking Israel when their official position is that they are not developing nukes ?
Israel however is ostencibly and publicly saying that they are seriously considering bombing Iran very soon.

Their official position, is, by most accounts, total bogus... as was N Korea's.

Google

It has threatened aggressive action to STOP the potential of Iran having a nuke, because Iranian leaders have repeatedly said they would use it against Israel, unprovoked or otherwise.

What does it matter if it is a nuke or not????!!!!
Really?

Yeah, a couple of cruise missiles is the same as a nuke... good call.

Oh, yeah, and that one UN department they keep denying access to... so, by 3 very majorly important accounts...

Yes you said that already. I googled it and didn't find anything, maybe you could help?
Call Dell or whoever services your computer if your google button is stuck...
It's not hard to figure out.

Aggression is aggression.
No, just as there is a difference between a slap in the face and shooting someone dead... there is a difference between a missile and a nuclear missile.
Maybe google that too.

I believe the IAEA said they had refining capabilities for nuclear power, not nuclear weapons. The former does not translate into the latter.

IAEA said that there is a very good reason to believe that Iran is pursuing a clandestine nuclear weapons programme. If that's not enough for the doubters, then they clearly wouldn't be convinced even even if they received a letter signed by leading regime officials confirming they have such a programme.

My google button isn't stuck, it's just that what you say is there isn't. See for yourself: http://www.google.de/search?q=iran+...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

It's ok to admit that you were wrong.

Yes congratulations, but I'm not sure how this is relevant or changes the fact that Israel has clearly threatened to attack.

I agree it's hard to imagine but I think he would.

Which would help Israel how, exactly? (Just a rhetorical question, you don't have to answer ;) ).

Very good point. By war I mean any significant military action against Iran. Be it air or cruise missile strikes, armed incursions, a ground war or anything inbetween.

It's just when you say war, people will automatically imagine anything from WW2 to Vietnam to Afghanistan. I think the term is now used mostly for protracted conflicts in which a significant number of people die.

If the West struck against Iranian nuclear facilities and the crisis didn't lead to any major escalation, that it would hardly qualify as a war.

So they don't have proof, then. If the IAEA came out and said "here's the evidence" then I would probably believe it, but "very good reason to suspect" isn't proof, it's suspicion, and suspicion is what led us into Iraq in 2003, not proof.
