Would the GOP types push the USA into default ?

As I understand it, it was already a part of the law but could have been delayed a year. It's not being delayed now.

I don't quite see how that article supports your statement, nor does it acknowledge way the current treasury computers are configured which makes it impossible to prioritize bond interest/principle payments over other obligations.

So yeah, that article is the same kind of drive-by superficial analysis that claims to eschew.

Don't forget the part where numbers that feel emotionally big, and explicitly not intellectually so, to the author must mean an "event that ends in tears". 17 trillion sounds scary but 17 is still underage so it's not so bad. But 50, my friends have died at 50 from natural causes! It must be a dangerous number.

Who is this hack?

GOP congressman: U.S. default would “bring stability to the world markets”

While experts continue to describe a possible U.S. default in calamitous terms, one Republican congressman isn’t nearly so worried.

“I think, personally, it would bring stability to world markets,” Florida Congressman Ted Yoho told the Washington Post. ”I think we need to have that moment where we realize [we’re] going broke.”

Wait, did we read the same article?

As rating agency Moody's said this week: "We believe the government would continue to pay interest and principal on its debt even in the event that the debt limit is not raised, leaving its creditworthiness intact.''

One of the big 3 credit ratings agencies seems to think it is possible.

I think what the credit agency is saying is that the government will find ways to continue to create money because that's what it does, arbitrary debt ceilings be damned.

Banks control the US government anyways so they would likely know more then what the government is capable of doing or not doing.

Banks say US government pay us the Banks first
US government yes sir !

I didn't get all the details of the deal to prevent default and end the shutdown. Did the GOP agree to stop hitting the Dems fists with their faces?

Just a heads up, the comments section on every story about this on Breitbart are all gold.

Our problem is that about half of our "true conservative" freshmen end up being co-opted... Mr. Flake, call your office.

Or maybe after being in Washington they finally got exposed to reality and couldn't hide in their ideological bubble.
