How about considering Las Vegas for a future CivCon?

I would go if it was held anywhere but the US (i have vowed never to go there again.)

Um, it's in Baltimore, or did you vow never to read instructions again also? :D

As Methos noted earlier in the thread, this would be held in Baltimore as it is home to Firaxis Games -- Hunt Valley just north of the city to be more specific.

Hi Dan.

I've been to some conferences there in years past. Pretty nice Interstate highway access. Is this car rental distance from the airport rather than cab/shuttle ?

Will Solver attend?

I would be highly interested. The early part of July is great (esspecially cause it's when my b-day is) I just checked flight info and those of you coming from the Chicago area would be paying close to $300 in airflight for the 2 way trip.

Of course if anyone was interested in getting a larger group together to carpool all the way I would share in the cost for the rental van (or car).

A weekend event would probably be best and most cost effective. A set of clinics in the morning hours over areas like civ development (future games), strategy (civ 1-4 + revo), and maybe modding. The evening hours should be involving different types of multiplayer games for different ages, difficulty levels, custom senarios, etc.

If you guys are serious about doing this and want any help with the coordination of the event I would be willing to offer my services. I do booking and planning for my band which tours across the midwest, so i believe that I would be able to help out in some fashion.

I would attend a CivCon, even in Baltimore - a transcontinental flight - if there were sessions around constructive feedback and dialogue between the audience and the programmers and designers of the game.

Thanks to all for your feedback to date, positive and constructive criticism alike. If and when we have more particulars to impart, we will do so. :yup:

In the meantime, please continue to make suggestions and ask questions. Your ongoing input is appreciated!

Booze and hookers? :D

What venue? Some of the hotels in that area are far from cheap, and I'd only attend for professional reasons at that cost. A Days Inn would be reasonable for the average income person.

Anything that supported getting average joes into modding would be awesome.

CivCon will be held in Baltimore, Maryland.

Hold the con in an interesting city like New York or San Francisco and I'll think about it. As much as I love Civ, I can't justify the expense of flying to some nondescript American city just for a Civ con.

Baltimore residents' flame posts incoming in 5, 4, 3, 2...

It's a great idea, and I'm pleased for all those living in the US who can take part. I imagine that some provision will be made to offer some of the interesting stuff that emerges via cfc?!
