Wrong time for evangelism?

That is too bad. The reason it changed is because the fire departments can be depended upon to respond in a reasonable period of time while private ambulance services cannot.

When I worked as an ambulance dispatcher for a private company, I was supposed to even hold emergency calls instead of giving them to another service when all my units were busy. But I never did...

Emergency ambulance service is an excellent example of where private enterprise clearly does not work.

and I bet its cheaper, calling an ambulance and then being admitted to emergency is a double whammy

Ironically, the fire department bills you because insurance companies will pay for it. But they don't care one bit whether or not you have insurance...

Can you imagine getting a bill after a fire or the police responding?

Your spiritual house is burning. If you don't repent and place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ's sacrifice as paymnet for your sins, you are going to burn in Hell forever.

That's a scary thought, and I don't want that to happen to you. Thus, by telling you that you are in imminent danger of such, I am hoping you will take heed the advise and repent, and thus avoid this eternal burning. Hence the "house on fire" analogy.
You know, I specifically included the part in parenthesis ("and no, bothering me about your imaginary friend is NOT being helpful, while preventing my house for burning is, just in case I actually need to point it") because I knew such garbage would come. Guess the "don't give me that crap" signpost wasn't big enough.
What? This doesn't even make sense.

Christians can, and will, obey God over men (Acts 5:29.) If you're enough of a petty tyrant to punish them for that, then you are a sick excuse for a human being.
Actually, "preying upon people in distress" is far more of being a sick excuse for a human being than "respecting people's dignity".

Can and will obey a "God" who orders and condones all sorts of sick and immoral crap? Who's calling who a bad excuse for a human being?

I'm dreadfully confused. I've asked before and got no reply. I'll try again. If you believe in predestination, what's the use of trying to save people's souls?

That said, what the flying crap are Christians doing in the military to begin with? I'd love to see the military become as explicitly anti-Christian as it by its nature already is, and has been since the 19th century.
Now, this I almost agree with. And yet there are sincere Christians who serve in the military. Or, at least, as sincere as any others.

Still, what's this about the military being, by its nature, explicitly anti-Christian since the C19th? What are you referring to? The ACW?

I don't really understand what happened to the military in the C19th that didn't hold since, like, forever.

Jesus Mary Joseph, how many threads are we going to let Calvinist hijack?

To be fair, this thread does have evangelism in the title.

The other ones he seems to be dominating with calvinism are the Belief Poll, and Islam and Christianity. No?

Still, it is a bit of one-trick pony. Maybe.

He got the Chomsky thread, too, and in that one he's prattling about taxes. So he's got at least two tricks to his name.

True.

I think he's Dommy, really.

Quick! Someone start a thread on abortion. Then we'll know for sure.

Erm, SO WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF RON PAUL TAXED THE CONSTITUTION'S RIGHT TO ABORT THE STATE?!?!

The right way to put it. It takes a lot of discipline, but the only way to stop people like this is to utterly ignore their posts, not respond with one's own clever and righter-minded post. He joined in November and has a low post count. He found this place, found he could rile people up with talk of double predestination. He'll keep riling as long as it sees it riles, and leave if it doesn't.

I've got the impression I'm on his ignore list already. A bit of a result, I think. :smug:

Yeah, I get that. This is why I think it's very important to only apply these considerations to times when the preaching of the faith could cause harm or the appearance of bias. It's very tough to both believe in a liberal society and want to stifle religious freedoms unreasonably.

This is very true.

Don't feed the trolls. I'm sure that you learned that the hard way, being Norwegian and all:

Link to video.

EDIT: why did I think you're from Norway?? :hmm: apologies if I'm wrong about that. Enjoy the clip anyway :)
