The problem I always had is that my previous records aren't listed in the Hall of Fame.

Is there a way to save/show hall of fame records when switching from version to version?
The way I understand it, achievements are stored in the savegame file, hence they should be kept even if you upgrade mid game (upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2.1 is supported, but not 4.1 to 4.2 because of a bug fixed in 4.2.1). If you start a new game, it will be emptied because it only show events from the current game.

Maybe my problem is that I don't update it, but instead unzip the new version directly into another folder.
That is, I have each version in its respective folder.

How do I update from one version to another?
Do I just copy the new version into the same folder as the previous mod?

Using the same folder name is one option, through you can also edit the savegame to tell it which folder it should use. To do that, use our savegame renaming tool.

Another one:

During the War of Independence, I captured some "Prisoners of War." The Colopedia says they can be exchanged,
"if the enemy commander is willing to", but it doesn't say how to do it and I don't see any buttons on the "Prisoner of War" unit.

Surely there's something I'm missing...
How do PoWs work?

How do I modify the land and naval unit limits for IMPROVEMENT_FORT and IMPROVEMENT_LARGE_FORT? Could not find anything in the XML.
The unit limits for both forts and cities are a real pain for Marathon games on bigger map sizes, fyi (for pathing, because you have doomstacks by the late game, and so does the AI). I don't know how others feel about it, but I have been removing them (setting to 1000).

Edit GlobalDefinesAlt.xml. The interesting flags are BASE_HARBOUR_SPACES_WITHOUT_BUILDINGS and BASE_BARRACKS_SPACES_WITHOUT_BUILDINGS.

We are considering removing the hard limit and instead add a penalty for overcrowding precisely because it's problematic for movement.

How do you get horses? Every time I settle a city near horses, they disappear?

To breed any animal, the animal must first exist in colony storage.
This applies to all livestock. It is a feature of classic colonization as well as vanilla. If I remember correctly, classic colonization requires 2 horses in order to make more while WTP only requires 1. The thinking is the same as each unit being a single or a few people even through they represent often hundreds of people. Likewise each unit of horse must represent multiple horses or it makes no sense how few horses it takes to make a swarm of cavalry units.

Another probably stupid question, how does that quest work when it ask for a nobleman to talk to the king? I take the angering king option, the nobleman disappears and then reappears. Several turns later I get a message stating I waited too long. So I went back a couple of saves and tried to figure what I did wrong. So I tried sending the reappeared nobleman to Europe and unload him onto the dock as soon as reappears and I still get that message every time.
