So, how do you deal with CFC? Here are the questions:

1. What determines whether or not you read a thread, and what determines whether you comment in it?

2. When do you unsubscribe from a thread?

My answers:

1. The topic, first of all. Some topics simply don't interest me, so I don't read them. Some topics might interest me, but because of the style of debate that usually goes on, I don't read them: examples might be the Iraq War, and various "atheists vs. religious folks" threads. I also rarely click on a thread if it already has more than 3 or 4 pages the first time I see it.

I only comment when I'm very interested, which is why my post count is so low.

2. I unsubscribe when the thread degenerates into just a few people constantly bashing each other back and forth, except of course if one of those people is me. ;)

What are your CFC habits?

I don't subscribe to hardly anything, so unsubscribing isn't a problem

I only read topics that aren't obviously baited against those who don't share the view of the OP (with certain exceptions where I can't resist)

I'm also lazy

I avoid reading/responding to anything that has to do with religion or creationnism. All the answers I could give in them would be flam/troll/ogre/smash. Besides that no limit.

I never unsubscribe

1. if i think i can contribute to the thread, i post. sometimes i want to post, and i dont really know enough about the subject to posta anything coherant, so i dont post.
2. when i get bored with it popping up in user CP "my account".
mostly never.

I'll read a thread where the title indicates it is a topic that I might be interested in commenting on and the thread is within its 1st 5 pages. I comment in about 50% of the thread I read. I never subscribe to a thread.

I generally read any random thread that seems interesting. Then I reply if I think can add any useful comments.

2. When do you unsubscribe from a thread?

Once in a blue moon I would select a group of threads from around the back of my list of subscribed thread and unsub. Other than that I let threads accumulate.

I post in things that interest me. For example, I'm not much of a debater, so I avoid religious/political/creation vs. evolution/etc., so I avoid those threads. I comment in it if I have anything to say.

I have subscribed threads turned off, so I don't have to delete them. Although oddly enough I have 9 random threads in My Suscribed Threads. Not sure why.

If it's a chance to bash the Bush administration, I'm there.

when the bush apologists get too annoying, I unsubscribe.

1. What determines whether or not you read a thread, and what determines whether you comment in it?
Depends on my mood. Usually I'm at C3C&C, but now I'm going into an OT phase. I comment only when I have a comment that's applicable. I try to stay on topic, and avoid spamming.

2. When do you unsubscribe from a thread?
Never. Too lazy to do so.

I dont subscribe to any threads.

Most of the time when posting, I tend to be a klutz (Being socially and intelectualy inept is not fun) and tend to be a bit "newbieish".

you have 21,000+ posts and have been here a long time, so even if it's "klutzish" i wouldn't call it "newbieish"

Well I heard that some people are annoyed, even frustrated with me, when I make these "klutzish" actions.

Then perhaps they need a sense of humor ;) I don't find anything you do frustrating or annoying. But then again I'm an odd person meself...:mischief:

So, how do you deal with CFC? Here are the questions:

1. What determines whether or not you read a thread, and what determines whether you comment in it?

I read the thread title and attempt to garner some understanding of what is to be discussed and from what point of view the author is likely to have taken. I assess whether I can relate to the issue at hand and, furthermore, whether I am interested in discussing it. I tend to stay away from some of the more ancient debates, on CFC, that never go anywhere, like evolution versus creationism.

Of course, this is one of those few threads that I assumed would be about something else entirely and was tricked into reading further.

2. When do you unsubscribe from a thread?

I have yet to subscribe to a single thread. I will remember those posts that I want to read responses to and those that I do not, fade away.

If the Topic title isn't clear I hover over it to read the first sentence. I generally don't bother reading threads with over 4 unread pages. And I usually won't post if I'm just repeating what others have already said.

I only subscribe to threads I may want to bump someday. Like Turners News of the Weird or The Alt Members Photos.

1. Whether I open a thread depends on how interesting the title looks and how bored I am. As any regular here can probably tell, some types of threads interest me more than others. As for posting, I post in most threads I read.

2. Haven't ever subscribed to a thread, so, naturally, I never unsubscribe.

I read a lot of threads, and if I read a thread I will generally post in it.

Only if the thread is annoying me in my user cp will I unsubscribe. Its basically a once a year event.

I read most of the time and fail to reply. My post reading to post posting ratio is about 50 to 1.

How do you subscribe to a thread? I've been here for a year and I still dont know how..
