What is your favorite chat software Skype, Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live messenger or AOL and why do you like it so much? My personally favorite is Skype because of the great webcam mode and the free calls to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Do you use Skipe in civ teeam gamees

I realize I'm old when I say AIM, and that ICQ was better but not well enough adopted outside Europe for me to use it.

IM: Pidgin which aggregates my gchat, facebook, &c chats...
Voice and video: Skype, obviously.

Oh, and IRC, obviously.

Team Speak 3

Only chat program I have ever used is G-Chat, largely because it is fully integrated with my email.

Unless you also count the in-game chat feature in Minecraft, then I suppose I use that too.

Ugh, I hated mIRC, it has got to be one of the ugliest programs I have ever used (which wasn't for very long). Also i second that the OP is suspicious.

Mostly I use Steam, Teamspeak 3 (for a while it was Mumble), e-mail, text messages, Trillian (MSN) and Facebook. Most of my friends I hang out with I only briefly message and talk to them face to face most of the time.

I once used Trillian to talk to friends on AIM and MSN, but at some point a few years ago I fell out of the habit of using messengers. Gmail probably had something to do with that. I used PalTalk during the summer (audio chat rooms), but it's been a while since I logged in.

Favorite chat software, or favorite chat protocols?

Basically, I use protocols that people I know use:
Skype, Windows Live, Facebook, Gmail chat.

Skype and Windows Live messenger both chat with facebook.
My phone has integrated support for WLM/Facebook.

MS should integrate Skype in with the rest of their products in the near future.

Google chat is the odd man out, I use the gmail website for it, which I never use for actual mail.

Threadstarter's first post ever, a very short and standardizes question to justify the thread and then is the main gist of the post.
But maybe I am just paranoied.
I was suspicious too. Let's see how this plays out...

Anyway I use IRC and facebook for chatting purposes. ICQ had a cool set of features for its time. Shame it got flushed out of the market when MS started bundling MSN Messenger with Windows XP. I don't know what it's like now but I hated MSN when I was 16.
