Zimmerman Not guilty

Because of stuff like this?

George Zimmerman's Wife Says He Is 'Selfish,' Feels 'Invincible'

George Zimmerman's wife says she doesn't know the man she's been married to for almost seven years and doesn't think she "ever really knew him at all."

In an exclusive interview with ABC News shortly after her attorney filed for divorce from the Florida man acquitted in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, Shellie Zimmerman said she is left with a shattered life.

"I stood by my husband through everything and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of broken glass that I'm supposed to now assemble and make a life…It's just heartbreaking," she said.

Shellie Zimmerman, 26, stood by her husband throughout the ordeal that began on Feb. 26, 2012 when her husband shot and killed the unarmed teenager and came to an end when a Florida jury acquitted him of murder in July.

But less than two months later, she filed for divorce.

"I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George," she said.

She claims that at times he was verbally abusive and hurt her "emotionally, but never physical."

"I think I'm realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don't think that I ever really knew him at all," Shellie Zimmerman said.

Shellie Zimmerman said her husband is not only driving too fast, referencing the two incidents in which her husband has been pulled over for speeding recently, but also living too fast since his acquittal.

She says he spent maybe three or four nights at their home with her before she moved out in mid-August. She says she believes the not guilty verdict has left her husband feeling "invincible" and since then has been "making some reckless decisions."

She is asking for "equitable distribution" of their assets including anything her husband might gain from a defamation suit he has filed against NBC as well as equal share of their debts. She is also seeking sole custody of their two dogs. According to the financial disclosure form, she said she is unemployed and listed her monthly expenses as $755. Since they separated George Zimmerman has given her $4,300 for living expenses and the source of funds appears to be his legal defense fund.

George Zimmerman's legal team told ABC News there would be no comment on the divorce filing. George Zimmerman's brother Robert tweeted "Pray for them."

Last week Shellie Zimmerman pled guilty to perjury for lying about the couples' finances when the judge was initially setting bail for her husband. After a judge handed her 100 hours of community service and a year's probation, Zimmerman told ABC News last week that she did not know if she would stay married.

Now, she says she is making the decision to cut ties in an effort to leave the drama that has taken over her life since that fateful night in February 2012 behind.

Shellie Zimmerman, George Zimmerman's Wife, Seeks Life Insurance Policy

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) -- George Zimmerman's wife is asking that he pay for a permanent life insurance policy with her named as the beneficiary, according to a divorce petition made public Friday.

Shellie Zimmerman said in the petition that her husband should pay the premiums on the policy since he "has the financial ability to obtain such life insurance at reasonable rates." She also asked for custody of the couple's 2-year-old Rottweiler, Oso, and 8-year-old Leroy, a mixed-breed dog. They have no children.

Shellie Zimmerman was sentenced to a year's probation and 100 hours of community service. Her husband did not attend the sentencing hearing in the Sanford courtroom.

"I stood by my husband through everything," she told ABC, "and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of pieces of broken glass that I'm supposed to now assemble and make a life."

She said the timing seems right to begin a new life.

"I have supported him for so long and neglected myself for too long," Shellie Zimmerman said. "And I feel like I'm finally starting to feel empowered again."

Do you really think it is fair for Shellie to get custody of both dogs? Can she still feel empowered while George is feeling so invincible?

So much for living in a van down by the river...

George and Shellie Zimmerman's house: A $240,000 showplace with a pool, spa and fireplace

580x326

The house where George and Shellie Zimmerman lived during his trial – and for nearly a year leading up to it – was no trailer in the woods.

It is a gorgeous two-story, $240,000 home on a cul-de-sac with landscaping, a show-piece pool and spa in the backyard and two security cameras trained on its front door.

It's also less than 10 minutes from the Seminole County criminal courthouse where Zimmerman stood trial on a second-degree murder charge for killing Trayvon Martin and was acquitted in July.

In an interview with ABC News two weeks ago, Shellie Zimmerman described their lives in hiding as "gypsies … We lived in a 20-foot trailer in the woods."

But that was for a short period of time. On Sept. 5, according to GPS records at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the couple moved for the last time.

It was into the large house not far from the courthouse, according to George Zimmerman's drivers license records. The home is owned by someone close to the couple.

Their lives there were so discreet that a neighbor last week said she had no idea who its occupants were.

The house is at the end of a quiet street of expensive homes and is surrounded by woods on three sides.

No one came to the door on Sprucewood Road Friday when an Orlando Sentinel reporter knocked. The 29-year-old Zimmerman, contacted through his attorney, would not comment.

It is the house where police took Zimmerman into custody today after a possible domestic altercation, police said.

The people who own the house, an Orlando-area husband and wife who own several pieces of real estate, were unavailable for comment.

Zimmerman's address became public last week after a Lake Mary police officer pulled him over on Rinehart Road and gave him a ticket for driving 60 mph in a 45-mph zone.

It is not clear, however, whether he still lives at that address. According to Shellie Zimmerman's divorce petition, they separated Aug. 13.

They had lived in the house at least through the end of his trial, July 13, according to Sheriff's Office GPS records.

The Zimmermans paid $1,000 a month rent, according to statements previously posted about his legal defense fund by defense attorney Mark O'Mara.

Based on Seminole County Property Appraiser information, that is well below what the house is worth.

It has more than 3,500 square feet – more than 2,500 of it livable square feet – and a market value of $240,000, according to the appraiser.

The house was built in 1990 and the backyard is dominated by a two-tier pool and spa with four water jets shaped like lions' heads. Also in the backyard is a patio with a second-story deck.

Before the Zimmermans moved in, they had hop-scotched between extended-stay hotels, trying to find a place that would have them, that would be safe and that was in Seminole County, according to a lawsuit filed against Zimmerman by former bodyguards.

Zimmerman, a former Neighborhood Watch volunteer, shot 17-year-old Trayvon in Sanford last year, setting off civil rights marches across the country.
Regarding the Fox News photo claiming that George threatened them with a gun, I wonder if Shellie and her dad were wearing hoodies at the time. Perhaps he didn't think they belonged in that neighborhood.

A 240.000 dollar house is considered in expensive in Florida?

Walter White?

Here's is the 911 call.

I wonder what O'Mara said to get her and her father to drop the charges.

George Zimmerman's wife tells cops he punched her dad, had gun

In a call to 911, George Zimmerman's wife can be heard telling police Monday that Zimmerman was sitting in a car outside her home with "his hand on his gun and saying, 'Step closer.' "

"Dad, get inside the house! George might start shooting at us, I don’t know," Shellie Zimmerman can be heard telling her father, according to a 911 recording released as police swarmed the Zimmerman home in Lake Mary, Fla., to investigate.

As of a couple of hours after the 911 call, Zimmerman was not under arrest but was in "investigative custody," which means he can't leave the scene until police are done investigating, Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell said in a phone interview with the Los Angeles Times. Bracknell said Zimmerman was being cooperative.

Later, Bracknell told the Orlando Sentinel that Shellie Zimmerman and her father had decided not to press charges. "We have no victim, no crime,” he said.

On the 911 recording, Shellie Zimmerman sounded stressed, saying her husband had attacked her father and may have broken his nose.

"He’s just threatening all of us with his firearm, and he’s gonna shoot us," she said on the call. "He punched my dad in the nose, my dad has a mark on his face, I saw his glasses on the floor. He accosted my father, and took my iPad out of my hand, and smashed it and cut it with a pocket knife."

She added, “He just showed up here.... I’m really, really afraid.... I don’t know what he’s capable of, I’m really scared.”

Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce last week. She was convicted of perjury for lying to a judge about their finances during the prosecution of her husband in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. George Zimmerman was acquitted this summer in the slaying.

She called 911 about 2:10 p.m. Monday to say that her husband was in her home, with his hand on a gun, threatening all of the family, Bracknell said.

“Keep in mind, this is only her side of the story," Bracknell said.

After police responded, Shellie Zimmerman and her father weren't giving statements to the police until their attorney arrived, Bracknell said.

Shellie Zimmerman's attorney, Kelly Sims, did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Sims told ABC News that George Zimmerman pulled a knife on his wife Monday after she found a firearm in the house they had shared. He then pulled a gun on her and her father after a verbal altercation, Sims told ABC News.

“Oh my God. Oh my God!” Shellie Zimmerman says to herself on the 911 recording as police arrive and a dispatcher urges her and her father to stay inside the home.

“Shellie, you’re doing really good, OK? This is a tough situation for anyone," the dispatcher says.

Shellie Zimmerman can be heard weeping quietly.

After news of the incident broke, George Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman, tweeted, "We've learned from [Trayvon Martin] case not to 'jump to conclusions,' to wait for facts, & to avoid speculation. 'News' is a business - not your friend."

According to a copy of the divorce petition obtained by the Associated Press, Shellie Zimmerman wanted her husband to pay for a permanent life insurance policy with her as beneficiary.

George Zimmerman has had trouble staying out of the news lately, twice getting pulled over for speeding after his acquittal. One of those times, he was armed. In another incident, he visited the manufacturer that made the gun he used in the slaying of Martin. Zimmerman said he was acting in self-defense; his acquittal by a six-person Florida jury sparked nationwide protests.

The news of Zimmerman's detention Monday went viral and caused a stir at the Lake Mary Police Department, which serves a town of 14,574 people. The police have been deluged with phone calls from the media asking about the incident.

“Man, it would be fantastic if you have an apartment out there [in Los Angeles] for George Zimmerman," Bracknell, the police chief, told The Times. “This guy is killing me. We’re just a small-town police department -- this really taxes us."
Poor George. He's at a distinct disadvantage this time. The people he threatened and assaulted are still alive to tell their side of the story.

I love how the cop is all butt-hurt that he has to do his job.

If only Shellie Zimmerman had a gun to defend herself given that she felt "threatened for her own life and her fathers life". She needs to "stand her ground" !

Seriously though, guy has a history of violence, guess he didnt change after all.

I love how the cop is all butt-hurt that he has to do his job.

He's simply acknowledging that department staffing and funding haven't caught up with the increasingly popular idea that all US citizens* should be treated like armed-and-dangerous suspects to a capital crime.

*Part of this concept is that all non-citizens are criminals.

Why does this thread still exist?
A cursory glance at recent postings should be hint enough.

I'm suddenly that much less interested,
I wonder what O'Mara said to get her and her father to drop the charges.
I'm cynical enough to suggest he discussed evidence.

You mean the evidence that George Zimmerman apparently intentionally destroyed, and then seemingly lied that his wife was hitting him with the iPad?

George Zimmerman 'a Sandy Hook waiting to happen', police chief suggests

A series of indiscreet emails by a Florida police chief has revealed his belief that Trayvon Martin's killer George Zimmerman is a volatile character who is "a Sandy Hook waiting to happen".

Steve Bracknell is the chief of the Lake Mary police department, which is investigating Zimmerman, 29, for allegedly threatening his estranged wife, Shellie, and his father-in-law with a gun on Monday.

In an email exchange with a Lake Mary resident critical of the department's initial decision not to arrest or charge Zimmerman, Bracknell appears to agree with the writer's description of Zimmerman, acquitted in July of murdering Martin, an unarmed black teenager, as "a ticking time bomb".

"Zimmerman is a Sandy Hook, Aurora waiting to happen," the resident, Santiago Rodriguez, told Bracknell in his first email, seeking an explanation for why Lake Mary officers did not charge Zimmerman.

"Your reference to Sandy Hook … I agree," Bracknell replied.

At the end of a follow-up email urging Bracknell not to "give up" on the investigation, Rodriguez wrote: "Sooner or later another mother and father is going to be on CNN lashing out against the system due to this man snapping."

Bracknell replied: "As for your final thoughts, again, on a personal note, I agree."

Neither the police chief, nor his department's spokesman, Zach Hudson, responded to a request from the Guardian for comment Friday, but the political blog ThinkProgress, which published the email exchange on Thursday night, said Bracknell confirmed the messages were authentic.

It followed an off-the-cuff comment Bracknell made to a reporter from Los Angeles on Monday in response to the massive media interest in the confrontation between George and Shellie Zimmerman at her father's house in Lake Mary.

"Man, it would be fantastic if you had an apartment out there [in California] for George Zimmerman. This guy is killing me," he said.

And in one of the emails to Rodriguez, he insists: "Rest assured, the last thing on planet earth I want is any relationship with the Zimmermans. Period."

Police said on Wednesday that no decision would be made for many weeks if Zimmerman should face charges over the incident, in which Shellie Zimmerman called 911 to report he was threatening her and her father with a gun.

"He's just threatening all of us with his firearm, and he's gonna shoot us. He punched my dad in the nose. My dad has a mark on his face," she said in the recording of the call, made as the couple argued over their belongings.

Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce last week and, according to the police report, had gone to the house they once shared to pick up some of her possessions when her husband also turned up.

At some point during their confrontation, Shellie Zimmerman began recording him on an iPad, which he then allegedly smashed on the floor and cut with a pocket knife. Detectives say it could take months for forensic investigators to establish if any of the footage is retrievable.

The investigation stalled when Shellie Zimmerman, after talking with her lawyer, Kelly Sims, and her husband's attorney, Mark O'Mara, decided she did not want to press charges. She and her father, David Dean, then told police they had not seen George Zimmerman with a weapon, apparently contradicting what she told police dispatchers.

"I do not know why she changed her story. I could only guess, and that would be improper," Bracknell said in his email.

However, Shellie Zimmerman is serving 12 months' probation for perjury stemming from a lie she told a judge about the couple's finances at her husband's bail hearing last year. George Zimmerman told police that she hit him on the back with the iPad and that he smashed in to stop her.

Her backtracking left detectives relying on the iPad, which Hudson said was "in really bad shape."

"At this point, we do not have the tools available to effectively look at the video. As it stands right now, there will not be any charges anytime soon without that iPad," he said.

Bracknell described Monday's incident as "a very unusual occurrence" but denied there was any conspiracy or cover-up into why Zimmerman was released without charge after only a brief period "in investigative custody".

"The 911 tapes needs [sic] to be supported by physical evidence of the alleged physical violence. Since Shellie and her father refused to prosecute, we were powerless to arrest anyone," he wrote.

"Remember, we were the agency that wrote him a $256.00 [speeding] citation last week! No freebies here in Lake Mary."
I suspect that Mark O'Mara has all sorts of skeletons from her closet that he could anonymously divulge. Based on how he acted during the trial, I doubt he has any sort of conscience which would stop him from doing so.

Wow, you can't let this go huh? Well here is what I got from google.
Shellie Zimmerman told authorities he smashed it to pieces, but the former neighborhood watch volunteer said she hit him with it.
Shellie Zimmerman changed her story about her husband threatening her with a gun
Police said no gun was ever found and that the pair blamed each other for being the aggressor.
George Zimmerman blames his arrest and the trial for the implosion of his marriage, O'Mara said, but he needs to be a lot more "circumspect" about what he does.

"Anything he does is going to be hyper-focused on and scrutinized," O'Mara said. "Even though I may get away with a little speeding, he can't. It's unfortunate that this is part of the fallout from a case that never should have been prosecuted and he has to deal with this forever, and certainly right now."

What you are showing is nothing more the confirmation bias.

What you continue to show is that you will believe virtually anything if it supports your own preconceived notions.

If poor George Zimmerman was again in fear of his life, this time from being viciously assaulted with an iPad, why didn't he "stand his ground" and put Shellie down? She wasn't wearing a hoodie at the time? Why did he have to destroy it? Because it might attack him on its own?

"Wow, you can't let this go huh?"

With Zimmerman, there are at least two sides to each story and that is before you let anyone but George give their side.

Brilliant. There are always two sides to each story, but according to Form, George Zimmerman is guilty no matter what.
And according to you two, his wife viciously attacked him for no reason whatsoever in her own father's house, instead of him actually physically attacking her father!

Talk about "confirmation bias". :rotfl:
