Tannenbaum Forest Terrain

Christmas Trees for your special winter scenarios. V. 1.0 has Snowy Trees only.

The files include a Tundra Forests pcx that matches well with Ares' Tundra, Plains & Grassland Forests pcxs that go with Balthasar’s winter terrain and an LM Forest file. The graphics are the same in all files for this version - just placed appropriately for each pcx file. The decorated trees are in the Pine Trees part of the pcxs. Matching forests use the other locations. Each pcx includes a bonus tile that can be cut & pasted for a special landmark.

The individual trees were constructed using forest pcxs from Balthasar’s winter terrain & Womoks’ tundra as a starting point. Special thanks to Ares & Balthasar for permission to use their base terrain in previews. The polar bear in one preview is a resource - used in Balthasar's terrain set. If other than Balthasar I don't know the author.

This is version 1.0 but it is really a late beta. Noticed at the last minute that there are still some very minor problems with shadows on one or two tiles. Future plans include making grassland & plains forests free of snow. Got most of the individual trees made - laying out the forests takes the most time.

PCX files have "xmas" in the titles. Rename to whatever you want to use them for.

If anyone tries these out please post a screenshot. I'm curious about what cities & units will work well with these.

This is actually quite good.

PinkMothra and I are indeed working working on Christmas resources (Shocker). We were going to finish it today, but the CT events have taken the wind from both our sails. Hopefully next week. They make a great pairing with this!

Now if Kyriakos were to do some Winter Cities and Supa or Tom2050 a Santa Sleigh unit we would have a real theme going this month

Yeah! more resources. There are already some cities that should be compatible: MeteorPunch's winter versions of Snoopy's City (compatible with Balthasar's terrain), Ogedei's Santa Claus cities ( for Ares' tundra) & his terrain buildings/resources. Legendary's Inuit cities may work as well.

Thanks. This set has the lampost bonus tile. I might do a a tile with multiple decorated trees in the non-snowy set. If it ever gets completed.

Frank Baum's "Life & Adventures of Santa Claus" mentions Asiatic Dragons, as well as all kinds of sprites, elves, fairies, etc. With Oz, Narnia, Dickens & Norse Mythology ("Rare Exports") for source material we've got a good range of units, LHs, cities, etc. for several factions.

Yes indeed, it would be Great to have a MOD for the Season.

Still working on the non-snowy grassland & plains forests. Won't be done by Boxing Day - maybe by Twelfth Night, but no promises.
