2006 CFC 7-Round NFL Mock Draft (Starts 2/4)

That works too. Isn't Reggie Wayne a FA too?

ya, but i think they've made indications that they will resign him. Either way, I doubt they would let both Wayne and James go in the same offseason.

They said resigning Wayne and an extension for Freeney were the priorities.

With the 24th pick in the CFC draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

Orien Harris - Defensive Tackle - University of Miami

If this really happened, i would be stoked. I dont think Harris is going to fall this far actually..the LSU player appears more likely. I toyed with Lewis as well, since Chris Henry is all but gone, and the Bengals have a need at TE, but their offense ought to be deadly enough as it is

The Jags will pick will take place at around 6 o'clock. Until then, since the Colts don't have a GM, who should they pick?

Maroney. I'm surprised he's dropped that far, and the colts will have to sacrifice somebody to the salary cap. From memory, James nearly left last year, I'd say this year he definitely goes.

I tip the Seahawks to take Pope at TE after Stevens' efforts yesterday. How many passes did he drop?

Updated Steeler list reads:

1. Kiwanuka - DE
2. Cromartie - CB
3. Simpson - S
4. Maroney -HB
4. Jackson - WR
5. Moss - WR

As for reasoning, no major weaknesses, so it's just a case of best player available in spots where there's minor weaknesses and/or aging players. That's FS & CB for slightly weak, DE & HB for retirements, and WR for minor weakness + Randle El as a free agent.

MattBrown: really? Most of the things I've read on Harris have him graded out to a second rounder and maybe the 5th or 6th best DT in the draft.

Sanabas: I think Azale won't be happy to see you have Kiwi at the top of your list! He was getting pretty excited seeing him fall.

So am I. Kimo von Oelhoffen has to be close to retiring, if Kiwanuka actually does fall to the steelers I'll be happy.

The Jaguars select: Alan Zemaitis (CB) from Penn State

Don't the steelers run the 3-4?? He's (Kiwi) too small to be an end in that system. Remember he's only 260 lbs, compare that to Oelhoffen whom is 299. I just think he'll get pushed around like he did in the senior bowl if he's put in that system as an end. He's much better suited with his speed to be an OLB.

Mathias Kiwanuka - Defensive End - Boston College

And this concludes the first round of the 2006 CFC draft. Thank you and good night.

Whoever said it was right, Kiwanuka doesnt fit in a 3-4 anyway. His health bothers me somewhat too...he was off and on all year.

Pick upcoming.

"With the thirty third selection in the 2006 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select..."

Manny Lawson-Defensive End-North Carolina State

Azale, you just get off saying how Kiwi doesn't fit in the 3-4 then you select Manny Lawson as a defensive end?!?! He's even lighter than Kiwi at only 245! Oi, I hope you made a mistake when you put him down as a DE and not an OLB.

The New Orleans Saints Organization find it in their best interest to draft:
