America is weird with most sports. It's so huge it's got a massive surplus of athletes with nothing doing after college.

A lot of it's culture rather than just straight-up numbers. I mean, Japan has about as many non-overweight people as America.

Today I almost laughed myself out of my chair. Someone said that if Ryan Lockte wins (which is almost certain to happen) he will be the second most decorated US Olympic athlete "right behind Michael Phelps."

The lack of a real 3 beyond Ingles will probably continue to be a big issue for Australia even with Exum, Simmons, and maybe Maker. Our best players tend to skew to guards and a couple of bigs. Maybe Simmons has to slot in there for 2018?

Walsh-Jennings loses only the second SET of her Olympic beach volleyball career, but pulls out the match to remain undefeated. Big effort by the Swiss team. The other night it seemed like the Chinese team pretty much gave up. Not that I blame them, W-J and Ross were totally on fire that night and there was a certain amount of awestruck in watching them work, even for the opponent they were working on.
