I agree- if it's "about" anything, it's about the general weakness of states in the global south, about the destruction of Mexican peasant agriculture thanks to free trade, and the US "security assistance" which actually only funnels money and military hardware into the hands of the cartels.

Yes, and a lot of that military hardware is sold in the US to people who then smuggle assault rifles, handguns and ammunition into Mexico, but strangely enough the NRA continues to oppose background checks and their puppet president builds a highly pierceable (is that even a word?) new wall™ which Mexico is paying for -with blood.

Trump didn't campaign like a normal republicsn. He did hint at centrist policies or healthcare, bringing jobs back vs free market.

not yet, AP says its too close to call... The LP candidate got %2 with the Democrat and Republican at 49 or about 4,000 votes apart. The last I heard - and that was an hour or so ago - pro-Bevin rural western Kentucky votes were still coming in, so the gap has narrowed.

Just so you know, this "Obama had the black vote and that sets him apart" line is total BS. Yes, Obama did very slightly better among African American voters than Hillary Clinton did...just like he did very slightly better than John Kerry, or Bill Clinton, or Al Gore, or any other candidate that has run against the party of choice for Klansmen.

But with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Bevin was behind Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear, 49.2 percent (711,955 votes) to 48.9 percent (707,297 votes).
Libertarian candidate John Hicks received 28,475 votes, or 2.0 percent.

The Associated Press said it could not declare a winner, owing to the tight margin. The Democratic National Committee and Beshear's campaign, however, claimed victory.

He can pay for a recount out of his own pocket if he wants, but 4700 votes is pretty far behind.
