A Brave New World Part 2

Please, what you'll do to Italy isn't half as bad as the fate worse than death planned for the Georgians. I didn't even think some of those orders were physically possible to be done to people, but apparently I'm wrong.

Important: This is the 18 hour and final warning until the update. Ye've been warned once again.

And here I thought that the French were allied to the Italians and Georgians...

No more order revisions will be accepted beyond this point. I will continue to accept new orders however.

No more orders of any type will be accepted beyond this point.

I revise my earlier statement, I need a political cartoon submission still for this update. If someone cares to provide one, I will still accept that as a private message.

Dong "David" Feng Rong: A Biography

Dong Feng Rong was born on 24 December 1890 to a Mongolian mother and Han father in the town of Datong, Shanxi Province.

As a child, Dong Feng would often accompany his father, an administrator tasked with bringing modern technology to Shanxi, to meetings amongst the local leadership. After receiving a few years of education at a local Christian school where he was called by the western name David, Dong joined the Russian Army at age fourteen and took part in fighting against Korean forces in the Great War. Though Russia was ultimately defeated, Dong's ability to lead his squad to limited success despite his young age caught the attention of the officer corp in the area and he was invited to attend the military academy in Moscow. While at the academy Dong was amongst the top in his class and was also able to master the Russian, English and French languages. Despite Dong's obvious talents however, he was eventually dismissed from the academy for fighting with superiors and accusing them of treating minority students unfairly. Dong left Russia and traveled to Germany and France, eventually taking a job as a waiter in a Parisian cafe. When Dong received word of the Korean invasion of China however he boarded a train back to Shanxi, taking an administrative post under the local Warlord Fan Wu Rou. Dong attempted to convince Fan Wu Rou to side with the Republic in fighting first the Koreans and later the Union of Chinese Collectives but had little success. Dong instead chose to train the local militia for the day war came to Shanxi. in 1923 Fan Wu Rou passed away from a heart attack and Dong's special relationship with the military in Shaxni proved beneficial. Dong succeeded his uncle as the leader of Shanxi and chose to join the Republic, launching a major offensive against the UCC that succeeded in temporarily recapturing Peking. Dong's offensive impressed the leadership of the Republic and he was promptly invited to join the Republic and run as the Kuomintang candidate in the upcoming elections. The prospect of a young leader representing the "New Face of China" impressed the masses and Dong was elected by a large majority in the country's first but chaotic elections. Dong Feng Rong had risen from being a waiter in a European Cafe to President of one of the world's largest countries in less than a decade.

Despite the victory in the elections, chaos still plagued China and the civil war was far from over. Dong was able to use his understanding of foreign culture to help secure massive amounts of aid from the Western countries and even the odds against the UCC. By 1928, the Communists had been sufficiently weakened and Dong made it his mission to finally unite China. When a French forced landed in Guangxi for the purpose of ousting the Warlord, a crisis ensued and Dong was almost forced to step down before the French volunteered to pay for damages. In 1930 the Civil War officially came to a close and Dong Feng Rong was able to use the victory to secure his reelection to President of the Republic of China.

OOC:
@Lord_Iggy: Gee. I miss the ol' hockey thing. But still rooting for the New French Nationals!

@bombshoo: Nice story about Dong. It's confusing when IC and OOC interests conflict. OOC I root for ya, IC I hate ya.

yes, it is, but welcome anyways.

North American News Report

CHICAGO ELECTIONS BREED UNREST. Chicago, Free City of Chicago. The inclusion of negro refugees from Virginia and Tennessee has at last sparked problems at home within the small country of Chicago. The strong ties of the Conservative government both with imperialist New England and the Virginian Empire has been part of the platform which now leads the Chicagoan Liberal Party to electoral victory. The Liberals have run a campaign with negro assistance, pledging to provide a beacon of egalitarianism and hope for troubled North America. The presence of first generation immigrants high in authority has given pause to many conservatives who denounce the move as contrary to tradition and proper society. Several brutal race riots took place within Chicago as white residents attacked the local population, burning their businesses and homes. (-2 Stability, -1 Manpower)

NEW ENGLAND ELECTIONS. Boston, Republic of New England. The Republic of New England had their first elections since the Crisis of 1931 this year, and some believed that the issues within the United Nation States of America may oust the reigning Conservative Party. This belief soon vanished as trouble erupted across the continent, as nation after nation descended into flame and anarchy. The president vowed to keep the country safe from anarchy with the help of his Conservative Party and using this platform he soon found his way back into office. The president has the full backing of the people and empire, hoping that he’ll find a way to restore order to North America. (+1 Stability)

NEW FRANCE ELECTIONS. New Caen, Republic of New France. The Republic of New France has maintained loose membership with the United Nation States of America for several years now and the turmoil which envelops most of that alliance has been raised as a major issue. The liberal Social Democratic Party has suggested that the nation once again find an independent road to success, but they still carry the stigma of the civil war and issues with the United Collectives. Therefore it seemed to many that the only choice was the conservative National Party, which has pledged to continue building up the nation’s military. They have also offered support to the beleaguered nations of the east, providing financial aid to struggling businesses within the East Atlantic Customs Union. (+1 Stability)

CANADA IN CHAOS. Toronto, Military Controlled Canada. After the dispute over the electoral victory of the Liberal Party government last year, the government launched a bipartisan effort to determine if the elections were fraudulent. The investigation was in the affirmative, and the Liberal Party announced that new elections would be held, and that they had been unaware of the activities of “unscrupulous members of the lower government.” However, during the process, the main leaders of the nation’s Conservative Party were killed in a bombing upon the Congressional Hall’s front steps. This was followed with the destruction of a Heavy Cruiser which sat in the nation’s base in Quebec City. Elements of the military moved into the capital, accusing the Liberal Party of plotting with the Quebecois against Canada. The military represents the Canadian First Movement, a radical rightist and almost genocidal organization. They immediately declared martial law, and the Liberal Party denounced the moves, rallying support from the remaining military and populace. Decrying the confusion as a military bid to further enslave the working class, the industrial city of Sudbury rose up in rebellion, rallying Canadian settlers from the countryside to support them. They proclaimed the new People’s Republic of Canada, vowing to defeat the military and illegitimately elected government. Meanwhile, the Quebecois did not sit idle, as the Canadian government collapsed, revolts quickly spread throughout the countryside. Canadian military outposts were surprised, overwhelmed, and occupied. Canadian ships were seized in harbor as the new Republic of Quebec has been formed. Brutal fighting and casualties have been experienced throughout this confusing year and the Canadian people have suffered greatly. (-41 Infantry Brigades, -1 Heavy Cruiser, -32 Manpower)

COUP ATTEMPT IN TENNESSEE. Nashville, Tennessee. Several members of the military plotted to overthrow the government of Tennessee this year for their own personal gain. They believed that they achieved the support of the highest ranking members of the military establishment, but when they launched the coup, they were greatly disappointed. The government and their loyalist supporters quickly ambushed and crushed the dissenting forces before they could even enter the outskirts of Nashville. Order has been restored and the disloyal officers of the army have been arrested and shot for treason. (-2 Infantry Brigades, +1 Stability)

CIVIL WAR IN TEXAS. Houston, Texan Republic. At the start of 1932, if you had told the average Texan that a civil war was coming in the next two years, they would have laughed in your face. Nonetheless, the controversy over last year’s alleged vote tampering crisis spiraled out of control as the country rose in arms. The Conservative Party government refused to hear calls for a revote and this drove a greater divide between the populace. Rabid supporters of the Conservative Party then attacked one of the nation’s leading liberal newspapers. Party based violence continued to escalate throughout the year, as leaders attempted to contain the tide they had unleashed. In August, a major uprising in Jamaica against recent programs installed by the Conservatives brought the growth of hate to a boil. The sinking of several Texan ships in Kingston harbor proved to be the final straw for the divided country. The left-wing Liberal Party has secured control of much of the southern part of the country, while the Conservatives have rallied together in the north. (-8 Manpower, -1 Battlecruiser)

PENNSYLVANIAN MILITARY SPARKS UNREST. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvanian government nearly doubled the size of the nation’s armed forces this year as a result of the increasing violence across North America. The threat of unrest in New Jersey has caused the government to deploy these new forces into the region to prevent uprisings. The soldiers of the army have displayed constant disrespect for the Catholic French communities of New Jersey and have helped raise unrest in the region to unprecedented highs. Local resistance groups have attacked Pennsylvanian military installations across the countryside and violence has continued to escalate throughout the year. (-4 Infantry Brigades, -2 Stability)

LIBERALS RALLY AGAINST GOVERNMENT IN GEORGIA. Savannah, Georgia. The Klannist government of Georgia was openly challenged this year by a coalition of resistance groups. The remaining white leaders and members of the Liberal Party have united with black leaders across the nation and from Tennessee. They have called for immediate elections by the government for a new governor. They have declared that the Ku Klux Klan has impeded native Georgian rights of man and that they must step down to allow these new elections. Violence has erupted between Klan supporters and black activities, including even some bloody skirmishes between armed parties. The government has not given an official response as the death count continues rise, and many fear that a new civil war is on the horizon. (-8 Manpower, -6 Stability)

UCNA RESEARCH MAKES NEW DISCOVERY. Mexico City, United Collectives of North America. Researchers working for the people’s government of the United Collectives of North America made astonishing new advances in flight theory this year. They have determined that there may be a way to launch smaller and faster projectiles through the air, which are quicker and possibly more reliable than both zeppelin or piston engine flight. This has been part of a government sponsored research effort which has taken place over several years and has been applauded by the socialist scientific community.

MILITARY SEIZES CONTROL IN COLOMBIA. Bogota, Colombia. Despite several years of relative peace and stability within the nation of Colombia under the republican regime, a military coup was launched this year. Ambitious members of the military considered that the standing liberal leadership were unable to control the nation, and they soon determined that to save the country from socialism they must act. The military fought a tough struggle for control of the nation’s urban centers, but the fighting was localized, fortunately for the country as a whole. The military has declared a new order in the nation and has shut down several major papers in order for “exhaustive restaffing and retaining” for the members of those organizations. WAR IN PARAGUAY. Asuncion, Paraguay. The Paraguayan people have somehow mustered the courage to follow behind their standing leader in the wake of socialist invasion. Poor in numbers, but rich in resources, Paraguay has made the invasion a walking nightmare for the invading armies. Mountains and hills have been turned into ever greater strongholds and the jungles and rivers of the east are no different. Major concrete and earthen fortifications have been built with what’s left of the nation’s economy, and they have badly bled the much larger socialist armies. Paraguayan ships have even launched raids up and down the Parana River, even shelling Buenos Aires. Casualties continue to mount as the socialist crawl towards Asuncion.

UNITED COLLECTIVE SPECIAL FORCES UNVEILED. Mexico City, United Collectives of North America. The United Collectives of North America have followed in the footsteps of various other nations with the creation of a new special forces section of their military. FIGHTING IN SUGAR ISLANDS CONTINUES. Port-au-Prince, Empire of Haiti. Violence continued throughout the year between Haitian troopers and members of the French nationalist group known as the Cross of Fire. Casualties have remained relatively low throughout the conflict, as less than five hundred people have died on both sides combined.

CIVIL WAR ERUPTS IN CUBA. Havana, Cuba. The year in Cuba began with a coup attempt to impose a new order in Cuba against the current Pierre dictatorship. The rebel forces of far right-wing leader Angel Castro, have rallied the masses behind their leader’s charisma. They have called for a radical new pan-Caribbean government and nation, to gain more living space for the Cuban people, as well as focusing heavily against communist or socialist individuals. The Pierre government has pledged to hold together against these radicals, maintaining control of a significant part of the army and navy.

BOHEMIA ELECTIONS. Prague, Bohemia. Elections in Bohemia this year were marked as a tranquil and civilized affair, particularly considering other regions of the world’s activities related to elections. The reigning Liberal Party promised to continue the nation’s modest prosperity and development, retaining neutrality as the world seems to continue to be uncertainly faltering from peace. The Conservatives could only oppose this with vague and uncertain warnings of imperialism, which seems quite ridiculous with the peaceful German Republic neighboring them. The Liberal Party was easily brought back into office with little issue. (+2 Stability)

DUTCH ELECTIONS. Amsterdam, Republic of the Netherlands. The Moderate Party coalition in the Republic of the Netherlands has continued to hold control of the government, offering stability within the nation. The German government has pledged to rebuild ties in the Americas and to help restore order wherever required within the continents. (+1 Stability)

ROMANIA ELECTIONS. Bucharest, Romania. The elections in Romania have resulted in the domination of the process by the Conservative Party’s faction, which has utilized unorthodox processes to win the victory. They have been accused by the opposing press to have once more used intimidation tactics to shut down the enemy. Those who reported this have been closed down by the government due to their disruptive broadcasts. The Romanian government has pledged to keep control of the nation and to prevent communist incursions or insurgencies among the populace. (-2 Stability)

ITALY ELECTIONS. Rome, Republic of Italy. As it seems the world is heading towards another conflict and an entire continent explodes into near anarchy, the Republic of Italy’s people watch nervously. They have also vowed to work ever more closely with the French government and people in efforts both in Africa and Europe. (+1 Stability)

TRANSYLVANIA ELECTORAL UPSET. Blaj, Transylvania. The Liberal Party in Transylvania has dominated the nation’s politics ever since the disastrous Balkan War. This changed this year as the nation suffered through an incredibly disruptive election process. Brutal campaign strategies were employed by both sides throughout the whole of the process and the nation became increasingly divided. The Conservative Party won in a dubious process and many have accused the voting options of being rigged in favor of the conservative movement. The Liberal Party government, despite the protests, has stepped down, stating that “democracy has spoken and we will abide by the constitution.” (-3 Stability)

ICELAND DEMANDS FREEDOM. Rekjavik, Danish Empire. The leaders of Iceland within the Danish Parliament, known as the Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn, have renewed their decade long efforts for independence. Bloodshed has fortunately only been limited to twelve people who died of injuries during protesting in Rekjavik. RUSSIA DEMONSTRATES NEW AIRBORNE WEAPON. St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. The Russian government demonstrated a new plane this year, emphasizing the bomber potential. Some Russian futurists predict that the bomber makes warfare obsolete, because nations will be able to bomb each other into oblivion within twenty-four hours of a declaration of war. Civilians have called for “cautious use” of these new and devastating weapons.

PALESTINE ELECTIONS. Al Quds, Palestine. Elections in Palestine were once again a process dominated by the Conservative Party this year. The Conservatives have been riding on their success at achieving independence from the German Empire, but have been faced with an arising problem. The rise in immigrants to the nation, particularly while it was under the control of Germany, has resulted in an increasing Jewish population, which has made an increasing divide in the populace. The Liberal Party has called for increased immigration of these individuals, while conservative Muslims, concerned about the threat that a Jewish majority in the region may pose, have shot down effort after effort. While the issue is not overwhelming at the moment, many believe that it may become incredibly important upon the arrival of the 1936 elections.

NIJERIA ACTS AGAINST DANISH RULE. Christiansburg, Danish Empire. The Quit Nijeria movement has launched a revolutionary new campaign against Danish rule in their country. The Danish authorities have acted against the movement’s efforts, arresting leaders and breaking up demonstrations. While violence has been minimal, the Danes have continued to rally increased resistance against their rule. (-1 Stability)

The military of Nova Brazil was caught off guard and their coastal defenses quickly destroyed, only managing to sink a single ship. The Haitians have secured control of Porto Pedro and the nation’s coastline, but the Nova Brazilians have managed to launch several coordinated counter attacks which have thrown the Haitians into defensive positions.
