A Brave New World Part 3

To the Splendous Orthodox Russia, From New Holland

Dear Russia, as defender of the Orthodox denomination and Christian faith New Holland hereby respectfully and humbly requests fiscal aid to aid her in her battle against those who would commit war crimes against your co-religionists.

- Who are you? And why do you think you have the right to ask Russia for money?
- Were there any Orthodox Christians in Pancasilla? No. Does the Orthodox Party care? No.

We had no idea that Iraq would force the companies, which that we planned to buy out of the country, to accept our offer. We apologize if we offended you.

From: Oman
To: Arabistan

Although Oman and Iraq have improved their relations, do not think that Oman wishes to isolate or ignore Arabistan. We are very interested in bettering relations with you as well.

This is hilarious. You haven't changed at all.

Me?

Silver, change is hard to come by. I know they declared war, but I don't really see a purpose in it... Too far away and too little resources to come after a random Muslim land who hasn't truly done anything.

My apologies for missing the orders and the "Im still in" PM deadline. I will do my best this time around. Retaking Texas.

Crezth would like me to inform you all he will descend from his silver cloud on November 2 and will be able to answer PMs and so forth then.

- Who are you? And why do you think you have the right to ask Russia for money?
- Were there any Orthodox Christians in Pancasilla? No. Does the Orthodox Party care? No.
(I'm not sure if that was IC or OOC.)

IC: New Holland sees that the Orthodox Party cares only for Orthodox Christians and not Christians in and of themselves. This is regrettable and provokes the thought in us that perhaps the ruling party is not founded on Christianity as much as it is on its denomination, its system and a minmialist identity.
OOC: Seeing as how your political party is founded on Christian values and identity I think your country will take a stab hit if you don't, unless this flu or something else keeps distracting people sufficiently (very few seemed to really notice this year), but its probably going to abate. I know OTL Orthodox believers are very light and minimalist in their religious beliefs to the extent of it being mainly a cultural compartment or even attachment, but it seems this Russia is much more zealous in this timeline. Orthodox Christians have historically been rather peaceful but definitely still comisserate with their coreligionists of other denominations though this involvement has notably tapered off massively OTL in the last few hundred years.

(I'll think of something more suitable EQ.)

New Holland declares war on Pancasila.

This despotic and murderous nation has clearly shown itself unworthy of self determination. For the good of the religious minorities and Muslims alike as well as to hinder the brutal degredation of practitioners of the arts, refugees and many more cliques of human society cruelly murdered by this nation the people of Indonesia will be liberated by a coalition of justice!
New Holland hereby calls on all allies in its war of liberation!

To New Holland
From Pancasilla

Indeed those who are opposing Allah and His Messenger are bound to be humiliated. The Almighty has ordained: ‘‘I and My Messengers shall always prevail’’. Indeed Allah is Mighty and Powerful.

Truly is our cause just for the forces of Shaitan now marshal themselves and attempt to destroy us. The nonbelievers, the infidel, the pagans, the apostates have amassed under a Satanic army lead by New Holland and seek to destroy Pancasilla the last bastion of justice, truth, and righteousness in the world.

I the Grand Imam declare a state of jihad bis saif (jihad of the sword) against the New Holland infidel and their allies. It is the duty of all Muslims everywhere to kill all the infidel they can. Remember the words of Prophet Muhammad as he waged war against the pagans of Mecca.

"To those against whom war is made, permission is given, because they are wronged;- and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid. Those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right, except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might,"

Slay the infidel wherever they stand be it in the oceans, be it on the land or be it in the very skies. Fight those who believe not in Allah or the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission and are subdued.

Dearest brothers, while we do not appreciate the tone taken, we can excuse that as a misunderstanding considering current events.

Please understand that we have no ambitions in, or around, the land of the Nile. This vicious plot is indeed despicable however in all truth we have invested no means by which to infiltrate our neighbors.

Indeed, we are unaware of the events surronding this matter but should you look into it you will find we truly have no involvement.

We will not pay these reparations; if not only for the fact that there was no damage done but also in that we are entirely innocent. We are open to further diplomacy on the matter as we are eager to clear our name but known that we will not accept any unjust demands built on false beliefs.

Our question is why you so quickly excuse the French yet condemn your brothers in faith? We have no ill designs against you, and this event was quite unfortunant if the some of those involved were of Rashid origin, but have the knowledge they draw no ties to our government.

Who I excuse is my business. These talks are between our two countries, and does not involve the French.

Anyways, if you are so confident, we are willing to dispatch an investigation team to see if the Rashids indeed have no ties to these incidents.

Thank you for providing us with the office joke of the day. We were running out and Director Pelotte was worried he'd have to fall back on this:

"Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows?"
"They're making headlines!"

Anyways, if you are so confident, we are willing to dispatch an investigation team to see if the Rashids indeed have no ties to these incidents.

Very well; you will find that we have invested no capital or resources to the arts of espionage. It has only been our buisness to work on friendly relations with our neighbors and as such, anything such as the one uncovered would only hamper that venture.

You shall find our innocence in good time, we assure.

From: Oman
To: New Holland, Pancasilla, Alaska

Although Oman will stay neutral in regards to your spat, we must state that the declarations of war by New Holland and Alaska show that the leaders of these nations must be some of the most foolish on this Earth. Declaring war on Pancasilla or any other nation without even thinking of potential alternatives only shows the ignorance of those in power.

However, should the situation rise, Oman is willing to send assistance in the form of Muslim aid workers to Pancasilla...if they are wanted of course.

New Holland would like to state that Pancasila is in the business of slaughtering refugees and people of a different faith and very recently stated that they wish to kill every other person on Earth who do not share their religion.
There is obviously no alternative to stopping their evil.
New Holland believes Oman is confusing her thirst for land, which she does not deny, with her thirst to protect the innocent.

New Holland also wishes to state that she is not alone in wishing to save the innocents of Indonesia. Borneo is our ally in this war and Portugal as well, though they may have reconsidered due to the international community's reaction to my accepting Alaska's strange generosity. The remainder of APACS will not involve themselves on the ground, but will be providing support functions. Alaska, while pure of intent, does not rank as a full ally, but may provide a support role if he insists on helping out.

OOC: I'm being told by a nervous coalition partner that a coalition of three medium-sized militaries and two additional supporting airforces might not be able to take down Pancasila... Silver must have done something impressive as F.E.A.R. At any rate looking back at the page before I can see my attempt at flamboyant appeal came out wrong by one-and-a-half genre, so I've edited away some of it and changed most of the rest. Also, I realize it is strange for Alaska to join this conflict, and it appears a liability on my part to accept, but if he wants to help then why not let him have some fun and see what happens to his 1-4 PT Boat squadrons?
As for calling on the churches themselves and not just religious countries (and countries opposed to religious fanaticism), I remember EQs ABNW 2.2 (though it did not start) had the Catholic Church that could easily gain income by calling on donations from across the world.

People of Guatemala, good evening.

Tonight is a night a remembrance and recollection. We must look at what this nation has suffered, and we must never forget these events. I do not know one family who was unaffected by the Honduran Flu, and I pray that we will never again be brought so low. But we must have more than just hopes, there must be actions and deeds.

A healthy nation cannot be comprised of a people constantly under attack from enemies we cannot see, enemies we cannot fight, enemies with the ability to make the strongest man or the most patriotic woman incapable of providing for their families or their country. We need medicina, medicine I believe the elders of the Mayans can help us find. Just as a man requires hands to grasp tools, and feet to run, so does Guatemala require the Mayans.

There are some out there who criticize me for opening dialogues and using our soldiers to build roads, and to them I say, what else must I do? I seek order for the whole country, not for just one province or city. But no man or army can achieve this overnight. To achieve a country of quality, we cannot spread our attention to every little problem. We must look to one or two problems that hold our nation back. By focusing on these problems, we will find ways to overcome the challenges our enemies cannot.

That is all this week, my friends.

End Broadcast Segment

In the office of Acturo Menso

Spoiler :

Acturo sat back in his chair grateful for his performance only to be wracked with coughing moments after the camera turned off. A man who had been standing off to the side came over with a mug holding a medicinal brew prescribe to Menso by one of the Mayan delegates. Menso cringed when he downed the concoction, but he could feel the urge to cough die down. "Diosh," he said, but as usual he got no reply from this young Mayan attendant, whose name was Ix, since he spoke less Spanish than Menso spoke Mayan, which was limited to a few greetings and pleasantries.

A brief knock at the door was followed by the entrance of Gonzalo. Acturo could tell that some of his cheeriness was faked. "I've seen worse speeches, presidente. On the bright side, you did look better than you have in the last couple of weeks." Coming from anyone else, Menso would've been insulted.

"Thank you, Gonzalo. The speech was alright, but tonight will be more important. I have regain some trust with those who keep me in power. I hope it all goes well tonight."

"Well, they've kept you in power since you went and lost your head, so I think they'll listen if you throw them a bone or two, even if Raul acts like a pompous burro." General Raul Dominguez had been the most outspoken against the troop redeployment, though he was one of the most loyal men Acturo had. While Gonzalo never quite got along with Raul, they shared a certain level of respect for one another.

"Well, we will see." Acturo couldn't help but think to himself what he though back when he started the reforms. Dios mios, Tati, what have I gotten myself into?

------ Later that evening ------

Spoiler :
"...ever know when the Mexican army is going to decide to pluck Guatemala like a ripe mango!"

"I understand your concern, Raul, but if you wish to have a strong army, you need a strong nation for it to serve. I am by no means disassembling the army. I am preparing the way for the army to better reach its potential. If we had been invaded Honduras before the road had been built? How long would it have taken our northern armies to reinforce our southern brigades?" Menso looked at the other generals, regional leaders, and important families who comprised the power core of Guatemala. No one answered "The answer is too long. Now entire brigades can cross our nation in under two days. I promise you, Raul, that I will see to our northern defenses, but there are other issues I have to attend to as well." Menso took a drink from the mug of medicine. This time, he didn't cringe.

"Speaking of other issues, I am aware that there are some of you who... doubt the decisions I've made in this last year. Do not look so shocked. I listen to rumors as much as the rest of you. I must say that I am disappointed that only a few of you, such as Raul, have seen fit to voice their concerns. I am friends with many of you, and if not, my father was. I understand many of you have your own problems in your various regions, but many of you and your families are here because you are clever enough to retain power. Some of you have held power since before Europe found this land. I am certain that many of your families will be ruling long after my family is gone from Guatemalan politics. So please, listen to me when I ask you to let me better this country. We all rule over these lands, but I know there are some who would wish to have power and sway over other nations. I wish to see Guatemala have that power too. To do this, we need we need a strong economy and people educated enough to manage this. This in turn means more power for each of you. If I am wrong, so what? Another man comes along and ousts me. But will he tear up the roads and bridges I have commissioned? Will he destroy the hospitals, schools and churches? No, because he will be shrewd enough to know that they are useful. And if that man takes over, I'm certain all of you will be shrewd enough to do what it take to remain in power. That is all I have to say tonight, but if any of you would like to speak with me, I am more than willing to talk."

With that, Acturo excused himself from table. Hopefully, they will listen. If not, hopefully they will be shrewd enough to stay quiet until I make a major mistake.

We thank you for naming the infidel who have chosen to assist you. Allah shall punish them terribly for their crimes.

The Nanyang Republic is extremely confused. We have no interest in wars of aggression, and have absolutely no intention of declaring war on Pancasila.

While we condemn the actions of the Pancasilan government, we categorically deny all aggressive intent in this affair.

OOC: Why am I being dragged into this?
