I seated myself between two christians, one girl and one boy.

The girl claimed she read the bible, confirmated herself, and fiercely believing in christianity. Which is rather strange because she asked me who betrayed Jesus. When she asked me what Jesus followers were called. Before the class had ended I had told her that Jesus were born in March and showed her the "right" way of praying.

The boy was a protestant. A rather fanathical one. He went on and on about how much he despised catholicism. "Would you look at this woman? She is kneeling before Maria. JESUS IS OVER THERE, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!" he said as he commented a picture in the textbook. And when he claimed that Hitler was a catholic. Hmm.

Comments?

I really wish Protestants and Catholics would learn about each other's beliefs and accept them, instead of tearing each other apart over misconceptions.

I know the type. (Both class and person)

Um, your religion class is wierd? What kind of discussion are you trying to inspire here?

Eran:  As a recovering catholic, I can sympathize. There's been enough written on catholic dontrine and dogma to fill a library. That's actually one aspect of the faith I liked: with so much there (and some of it self-contradictory...) there is room for debate...

I'm almost scared to ask, but what was the 'right way of praying'?

Shaping the hand to a bowl, "accepting God's gifts".

Um, praying or accepting communion? Normally one prays with his/her palms together...

 Eh... what?

I'm thinking that he is either a very good actor (and capable of keeping a straight face) or he knows something she doesn't. After all he had impressed her before with his knowledge.

Well, Hitler was technically a Catholic, as he was raised as such and never formally left the church. Not a very good one, though. His public statements on the matter of religion often seem contradictory; in practice it seems he viewed it mostly as something to be used for political purposes.
