A day in Religion class

*Sigh* another Catholic and Protestant bashing thread :shake:.

Protestants are wierder. Young Earth Creationism is almost entirely a protestant phenomenon - Catholicism certinatly doesn't endorse it. Actually, I only need to bring up the fact that the commonly described "nutjobs' of Christianity of today are all Protestant, not Catholic. That's far more surreal then either transubstantiation or Immaculate Conception.
I think protestants think of catholics as "the guys who listen to their parents and american/italian media too much". But that's my opinion. You shouldn't worry too much.

And I think a practisation of over a billion followers can include a couple of Young Earth Creationists.

And some people give me flak because I do not support baptism at an early age. :twitch:

I was a Catholic but After I finished 5th grade in Sunday School I decided to become a Lutheran, much, much better.

How so? .

The Catholic Church has officially accepted evolution as a viable scientific doctrine.

I don't see what the issue here is?

You're right, I'm not worried. It surely shows how stupid you really are.

As someone said, all Catholics follow Evolution.

Yeah, well, it doesn't change the fact that the anti-intellectualism of America is caused by some of America's brands of protestantism. It also doesn't change the fact that y'all are heretics.

And I think a practisation of over a billion followers can include a couple of Young Earth Creationists.
The difference is that it's offical doctrine that YEC is false and that the bible is to not be taken literally - you can't say the same for protestantism, as there are denominatations which say otherwise. Protestantism has promoted contradictory forms of Christianity, and dumb ones too.

As well, christian fundamentalism is a solely protestant phenomenon, by definition. You don't hear any Catholic advocating something akin to a theocracy - if you do, most likely they're old Catholics, not Roman.

There's a ton of stuff in which I disagree with the church, (as I should, as I am a soft atheist) but at least it doesn't endorse anti-intellectualism.

Not even the Opus Dei, so badly depicted in the last Dan Brown's book.

This thread should be titled: "15 year olds are dumb" because that's all that's being proven here today.

Excuse me? ;)

I highly doubt that.

Not as much dogma for one, there are not so many tiny rules, that if you break one and dont go to confession you will go to hell. with Lutheranism and most protestant you can confess anywhere. I always hated that small room.
My Catholic "father" was way to serious, while my Lutheran pastor, is much more fun to listen to.

Not true at all. They are there. My Catholic mother is a Young Earth Creationist, for example.
Well then he's a heretic.
The nearest parish priest should be informed and then said person excommunicated, we don't need idiots like that making our church look bad.

I'm a Roman Catholic and yet I am a Theistic Evolutionist.
