A New Dawn Bug Reports and Feedback

This is known. AND is an English-Only mod. I am mono-lingual. If you want it in German, you'd need to go through the text entries and find the untranslated and missing ones and fix them.

I went through the entries in Assets/XML/Text and they do not contain the intro screen text. In fact if I do a "search content" in windows through all of the Rise of Mankind folder I do not find this text, even not the English one. It seems to be hidden somewhere in the code and now I reach my limits...

I did really a big chunk of translations for RoM and now I can´t use them if AND is installed. I would also be willing to do translations for AND but I need at least some help :help: how to overcome the intro screen emptiness :please:.

You need to look in the folders under Modules/Afforess. In each one there will be a file called <folder name>_VIV3GameText.XML eg in the Beautification folder there is a file called Beautification_CIV4GameText.xml. This is where the text is and where translations will need to go.

Thanks a lot, that will help!

On a first glance it looks though, it seems that all language tabs are already there, so I am not sure if that will help with the empty starting screen. But anyway, I will look further into it.

I found the missing translations. You need to edit the Meteorology gametexts and one other one, I forget the name, but they are in the XML/Text folder. AND 1.60 should be multi-language compatible, just with some missing translations.

Excellent, excellent, thanks a lot, Afforess  ! I am already working on translations of the mentioned files and will post them here in the next few days.

I'm getting CTDs around the Renaissance era at about 1 per 40-50 turns, Marathon, Standard Map, default settings save for BarbCiv, Revolutions and Unlimited Wonders with 5 starting civs and 4 New World civs. I can see most of the map, though all but my own territory is covered by the fog of war, and I'm using 1.55, with the only modifications I have made being adding new Great People, tweaking leaderhead civics and religions, adding AAranda's Custom Religions and tweaking a few buildings, one wonder and one project. The only custom civilization I'm using is the Sioux and I'm using no custom leaderheads, and I'm using static leaderheads. My log is:

{Required Files} {Military Civics} {Beautification Project} {Castle Improvements} {Civic Flavors} {Ice Breaker} {Ideology Civics} Meteorology {Mountains } {Realistic Diplomacy} {Seafaring } {Resource Refinement} {Multiple Production Mod} {War Prizes} Zoology Firestorm {The World's Fair} Arctic {Larger Cities} {Espionage Process} Forestation {Sea Tunnels} Terraforming {Lead From Behind} {Event Images} Education Sports {Hi-Res Cursors} {Fixed Borders} NIMBY {Civic Buildings & More Wonders} {Surround and Destroy} {No Storms} {Advanced Diplomacy} {Deep-Red Interface} {Balanced Civics} {Early Buildings} ANM Fortifications

Though I have manually replaced the cursors in the graphics folders to improve performance. These are my in-game settings:

I am running no other programs in the background and my dxdiag is here:

First - let me say thanks for all the work that I'm sure went into this mod (I say that without having been able to play yet - I'm just salivating over the release notes).

Unfortunately, I'm getting a CTD when I load the RoM mod.

I'm patched to v3.19 in BTS, as well as Rom v2.81. Been playing RoM for a month - no problems.

I DL'ed v1.53 of AND initially, then immediately patched to v1.55.

Now, when I load RoM - Mod fails to load and CTD.

Keeping in mind the explicit instructions on pathing - I am running Vista and I'm tired of fighting with Vista over install and component locations, so I'm just using what Vista likes as the default for BTS (c:\users\ME\appdata\roaming\sid yada\beyond yada\Mods\Rise of Mankind\).

I don't think this is the issue, though - as everything that would normally show up under \program files\ in xp lives here. Of course, I manually changed the 1.53 and 1.55 AND paths on installation to match the expected location.

In the main BTS directory, I get a themeparselog with the following:

I'm not getting anything logged in the /mods/Rise.../ folder.

The main Civ4 logs folder gives multiple logs, from my primitive reading and understanding, I'm guessing the problem is in pythonErr2... It's also got the latest time stamp of the logs. Since including all the logs would make the post rather long, I'll just include this one for now...

Here's it's contents:

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you by chance, have a Vista username with Cyrillic letters? That's one cause of mod-loadup failure. If so, create a new account with latin letters only.

Otherwise, I would need to a zip of your log folder.

It's extremely annoying to see posts that have this formula:

POSITIVE PRAISING

BUT

NEGATIVE BUG OR MESS-UP REPORTING

So Afforess, can you add to your bug reporting request procedure to NOT use positive praise before a negative report? Or is that just a normal social thing that I have to learn to tolerate for the sake of cooperation?

The narcissistic side of me enjoys it more that way, but I still respond to purely negative posts. :mischief:

Hey, I don't tell people how to post on this forum. I haven't not responded to anyone, and everyone has gotten their questions answered (they may or may not like the answers, but that's their problem).

But I really think that they post with admiration first because A New Dawn is just that awesome.

This is what happens when I sleep in. :mischief:

Is that a serious suggestion? Do you request to leave posts and bug-reports containing 'praising' unanswered? Or well, actually we should BAN those impertinent sneaky bastards, shouldn't we?
Seriously, why shouldn't you express your admiration for the modmod before you report a bug? I mean, that's not even deceptive or dissembling. Weird to be annoyed about politeness and sincerity.

Just a head's up for Advanced Diplomacy: I added Faisal, Nasser, Urukagina, Murad Bey, Nicholas II, Baibars, and Nehru with the new version of my Leaderhead Pack.

Oh Boy! Could you upload me a zip of just their leaderheadInfos? That would make my life easier.

With the new beta2 I found a bug ...

Travel Agency civilopedia text says "15% faster construction of TXT_KEY_STATE_PARK, TXT_KEY_CRUSE_PORT, TXT_KEY_UNESCO_SITE in all Cities."

Beta bugs should remain in the beta thread, thanks.

As per your bug, I don't see the Travel Agency even in my game, is it a normal building?
