A New Dawn Bug Reports and Feedback

Okay, so as the administrator I was able to get the beta to install.
It starts up perhaps a tad slower than normal which is expected.

However, when changing the display setting or when going to start a new game it says something about a DX error.

I'm using W7 so DX 10 is installed.

Any ideas?

if not I can go and get the full error message.

Update DirectX?

Update DirectX?

I believe I'm up to date. It's a fresh install with windows updates recently checked.
However if there's some patch thats only used when an issue like this comes up with DX11 being used for DX9 games then I haven't gotten it.

Interesting catch with the ships. I'll fix the cargo space issue. I also agree with you that "warp" speed transactions shouldn't be happening, but that's an issue for 1.70...

UI stands for User Interface. It's the screen, the buttons, and stuff like that.

As for 30 second turn times, it must be a bad install or your computer. I'm 500 turns in and my turns on a standard map are like 8 seconds.

No one else has complained about turn times, only the sluggish UI.

What turn speed?

A general notice:

This thread is for A New Dawn Official Releases Bug Reports. Beta Discussions belong in the Beta Thread. Please do not post in this thread if it has to do with a beta build.

Thank you.

Bad Install. Turn off UAC and get a clean copy of RoM 2.81, then re-install.

I'm having the same problem. What do you mean with clean copy? Should I re-download it? Cause I have uninstalled both RoM(by deleting and re-extracting) and New Dawn and nothing changes. Oh and I use Win 7 and UAC is unactivated. Also in the end of the installation of New dawn 1.53 my bitzipper program opens up some kind of .jar file.
That is all. All help you give me will be greatly appreciated :)

Afforess, you missed my problem

I make a game, 'game A', play it for an hour and then save and exit
Then when I try to load game A I get a ctd
If I were to make a new game, 'game b', I could then load game A from ingame and even if I were to return to the menu and load game A I would not crash
If I were to exit Civilization, open it up again and load game B I would crash
If I were to make another new game, 'game c' and then load game A or B from the menu or ingame it would load.

Apparently making games now causes a CTD. Back to beta10 I go

A clean copy means that you delete the RoM folder, extract it, apply the 2.81 patch, and install A New Dawn over top of it. The Jar file is completely normal.

What *exactly* are your error messages? It's really hard for me to diagnose vague problems, all I can do is give vague answers...

I've never seen this behavior before. It may because of the poor way the exe handles memory management, IDK. Not much I can do about it.

Wrong thread!

I'm receiving run time errors now

Right after installing 1.53:

It installs with no problem though.

How should I go about solving this?

EDIT: The picture seems to not be showing up.
For anyone willing to help, the url is

Out of curiosity, I found that 1.55 reacts the same way.

Maybe this is a silly question, but does RoM 2.81 alone work? Have you updated to BTS 3.19? (If you load Civ4 BTS w/o a mod, and go to the about screen, it should say the version #)

Understandable those questions need to be asked when you don't know a person.

BTS 3.19 Alone - Works

RoM 2.81 Alone - Works to my knowledge I'm going to check once more form a clean 2.81 I have save externally

Edit:
Additionally, and I don't know the helpfulness of this info clearly, but when going to AND 1.55 and then uninstalling with the 1.53 uninstaller you provide on the desktop, the same error is present, but this time it loads and appears after clicking new game. (Which is what was happening initially for the beta version)

Edit:
2.81 Does not work I'm re-unraring and I'll try 2.8 then patch and try 2.81

Edit:
Clean from rar does, 2.81 not work same error I'll try getting a new rar of mega and full and try those

Reinstalling with recommended setup instead of custom setup fixed everything. :s

Anyways, this is about Flexible Difficulty. First the description says it adjusts every 20 turns, it adjusts every 50. Second, it does nothing. I started a game on Monarchy, which gives +2 health/+4 happiness/4 free units and after apparently increasing 4 times, it's still at +2 health/+4 happiness/4 free units instead of the +1 health/+3 happiness/1 free unit Deity gives.

Success and I truly regret wasting your time.
RoM "full" 2.8> 2.1 > AND 1.6 All successful.

-Thank you

It adjusts based on game speed.

Secondly, yes, the initial health and happiness and free units won't change. There is no good way to go back and reset the values again, without killing the player and resurrecting the player, which is too much trouble to achieve that result. However, rest assured, it does change your difficulty level. Your maintenance, amongst other factors, will immediately change.

Oh, ok. That makes sense. Thanks for speedy response.

Description does say every 20 turns though

I would first like to thank you Afforess for all your work so far and for putting in the Misc Building and my Water Mod. However I found some bugs in the Misc buildings ...

Public Pool
You have the requirement as Space Colonies and obsolete as modern sanitation. But it should be ...

ReqTech = Athletics, Sanitation
ObsoleteTech = Space Colonies

Poacher's Camp
It should go obsolete with Ecological Engineering not Biology. Otherwise having effects for Biology and Tourism do not make sense.

Animal Shrine
This is just missing.

Tattoo Parlor
This is also missing.

Chinampa and Great Chinampa
Both missing.

If you are not going to make the Animals Shrine, Tattoo Parlor, Chinampa or Great Chinampa let me know and I guess I will take a crack at making them now that I have learned how to make buildings.

I'll fix that. ;)

Yeah, I'm not adding those.

I just want to make sure that my game is running as fast as it could. I'm not sure if there are any Windows 7 tweaks, or whether I need to do anything to make Civ4 address more memory again, and so on.

- The cities (clicking into or onto them is extremely sluggish), doing a building que is a nightmare.

System:

AMD 945 3.2ghz Quad on M4A78t-E mobo
5850 1GB Sapphire
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

Game:

Tectonics on Huge
18 civs
Marathon
RoM (no megapack) + AND beta 10

date 1704AD (researching Steam power)

Turn time: 1m 10sec

Bug Report: Installed AND on fresh RoM 2.81. Immediate CTD during the check xml portion of the load screen. No error messages just "civ has stopped working checking for solutions". Not sure what the deal is. Will try reinstall.
