A New Dawn Bug Reports and Feedback

It's likely that this isn't something that will be considered (At least not in the near future), but I thought I'd ask anyway...

Are there any plans to fully add the Shinto religion into AND in the future? That and Tengriism and Andeanism are some religions I'd love to see in someday - but mostly Shinto. I recall Shinto was an optional 'mod mod(?)' back in the 1.75 days, but I could never get it to work properly.

I guess another thing I'd ask would be... Well, how hard it'd be to implement them (All three are already a part of C2C, and Shintoism was an optional part of AND once upon a time) and what sort of impact an additional religion (or two or three) would have upon the mod as a whole.
I can immediately think of additional religious tensions between AIs with more options to pick from being present, Cultural victories (Those exist?) being somewhat easier with the addition of extra temples and Cathederals, and the possibility of more 'religion hoarding' by the AI depending on what techs were chosen as the founding tech.
So I'd imagine additional religions are definitely not something being considered at the moment, and quite possibly are something that aren't wanted at all. =/
Shinto at least though, I'd be really happy seeing~

So, I'm trying to install the mod, I have the exe, I load it up, it loads about 230MB into memory, appearing for a few seconds and then self-terminates, leaving a small unterminatable relic. Forcing it to restart in Process Explorer does the same thing.

Any idea why this is can be caused or if there's a version of just the assets required? I'm running Windows 7 x64 build 7601.

EDIT: Restarting the computer and turning on compatibility mode to XP SP2 seems to have fixed it, since it said that it installed successfully.

EDIT2: Apparently not, since it did a lot of work and I see nothing different in my install; no A New Dawn concepts, nothing. Does anyone have a version that I can just unzip into my Mods folder and enjoy without worrying that something horribly broke while it takes its 30 minutes to "install"?

I think that Shintoism is already being considered; I remember a thread where we discussed the subject with Jospeh and Vokarya. I think there are enough religions right now in AND2, but I agree Shintoism could be added. Not a top priority issue, but we'll see what we can do.

Here is the save.
The city in question is Toledo (of all the places).

I've checked your save. Iron isn't the only problem. It looks like an old bug that was solved some months ago; which revision were you using when you've started the game? If you hover your mouse over Iron in Toledo, you will see "Zorn has 0 iron". And you can also see "Zorn has 4 fish" from mouseover (while it displays 6). Madrid and Barcelona also display 6 fish if I'm not mistaken. If you recalculate (Ctrl+Shift+T) the problem is gone (and no more Iron in Toledo). This bug was solved a long time ago and I haven't seen it for a long time, if you confirm you started your game with a recent revision, I'll have to look again at the code. Thank you for reporting this anyway.

Are you getting the Mod from here? http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=11728877&postcount=1

Follow the instructions on that post.

I run AND2.1 from Win 7 x64 Pro and have no loading problems. And why do you only have the .exe instead of the whole Mod?

When you 1st load AND2.1 it takes several minutes to load. The computer screen will go back to your desktop screen but it's still loading data for AND. This is a big mod.

Just wanted to post a (likely) confirmation of the Barbarian World CTD bug. Btw isn't the Barbarian World feature part of vanilla BtS? A quick look for any file with "barb" in the name in the Python folders only turned out something under Revolution and that's probably not it. Do we know if C2C has a similar issue?

Because I got the SVN build installer instead of the actual SVN (as I decided not to bother myself with even more software on this crappy rig). I'm going to try that now, see if it works. Hopefully, it will.

EDIT: The mod works (hooray) but there's no HUD at all whatsoever. Crap.

EDIT2: Apparently I'm not the first person to get this issue with AND, but I haven't seen a fix yet.

EDIT3: I'm an idiot, resetting it did the trick. :\ (Why didn't I try that first?)

I played the game a while ago (September) with an older build (I was a bit lazy reporting it).
I have not experienced such a bug since.

Hello it's been almost a year since I've played an epic game of 1000+ turns with AND ,I downloaded the latest 2.1 here and I noticed peaks dont give tools. Is this a bug or a feature ? I thought it could be realistic, like you can't climb mountains so you shouldnt be able to exploit them but will they give tools after mountaineering ?
I read nukes are bugged, does that mean that once I get to that tech, it will crash indefinitely ? bc then it's pointless for me to play, I love to go all the way from ancient to future....

And I really dislike the 3cities limit on chiefdom ,I always play eternity with my own customized xml settings to make it possible for easy development and army building from early on.So I modified it to unlimited cities I noticed AI's stay on 3-4 cities at most.I was lucky to start on a big island and after getting rid of my 2 neighbours and barbarians I was on my own.But on the main continent, after 400 turns, Incas made 5 out of 10 civs their vassals, incas had 1000points, everyone else was below 200 ,me at 500. Really strange behaviour, while Icans had 16 cities, I had 18, others had at most 4.

Also not a bug but maybe someone has an answer. When trying to launch civ4 with AND and realtime or high priority ,because of the nature of the mod, it flickers one or two times back and forth until it loads everything and it will revert back to below normal,I guess.I sorted out all processes on 3 cores and civ4 reserved for the first core.

Thanks !

No Barb World is not part of vanilla BtS.

Barb World (modmod) was made to be used initially for and by the REVDCM mod/team, same as Barb Civ. When Zappara added REVDCM to RoM Barb World and Barb Civ came along with REV.

And the Barb World CTD should've been fixed here as well as in C2C. Are you playing an AND version older than SVN v 662?

In BTS you can never use peaks; there's an option when you start AND and you can choose "usable mountains", when you reach mountaineering, you will be able to climb on mountains and use them.

Definetely not. Nukes are working.

There's an option to play without city limits caused by civics, but you will have to download the SVN version, it wasn't included in AND2.1
Also, it's not a very strange behaviour what you've described: some civs develops better because they start on better terrain; also they get ahead in techs making it easier for them to expand faster. I'm testing a new tech diffusion code which should help keep this kind of behaviour more balanced.

I guess there's nothing we can do, that's how Civ was designed, I think.

Thank you for reply !
I have one more problem though...I'm almost at turn 600 everything seems fine besides...the fact that I seem to have peace treaties with all 28 civilisations in contact with, even tho some declared me war not long ago, some I simply never talked to them, other than having contact.
Also why "permanent alliances" shows in my game options when I load the savegame but I made sure I never checked it when I created my game...

Incas are now at 3500 points, they have a whole continent and 200% tech ahead of me. And I have a huge army trying to start a war with him but ofc I cant bc he also has a peace treaty with me .

Any way to force this ?? Or...

Edit : well peace threaties do go away but unfortunately 650+ turns I gave up,Incas had 52 cities with 25+ average pop and like 30+ techs ahead of me and 10x the army size despite my very efficient development.Craziest game in a while. Thank modders I am impressed by the stability of the mod, had only 1 MAF by then and stack attack worked flawlessly with huge stacks.

Upload your save and I'll see what's happening, but if you have tweaked your xml settings, that could be the problem.

I don't know if this has been addressed but I don't want to look back for any solution, anyway every time when I start play AND there is a bug that I can't build any unit. I tired to reinstall it many time, at one point it works so I was happy about it and droll all over it, but eventually this problem come back. I'm sure a persistent bastard that I can't let this make me give up no matter what so how do I fix this?

What revision are you using?
Did you clear the cache first (Holding shift while loading)?

On a different topic, I got this event for the first time while playing.
Option 1 provides a Monument in the city, Option 2 does... Nothing?

In either way the event seems utterly useless since Monuments have already been obsoleted by me researching Astronomy a while back. I don't know if the second option does anything and just doesn't say so, or if it literally is an empty option. Since I have Astronomy, I don't know why the first option wasn't already greyed out and unselectable.

On the subject of events, I'm remembering one that had several options that always seemed to be active with no prerequisites, but there were two Options that seemed completely redundant. That is, one was completely free but provided a temporary happiness boost to the city, while the other cost you money but did absolutely nothing. I think it was the "Dock Workers on Strike" event? Every time I saw the event come up I thought to myself "Why is that second option even there?". You could get the happiness boost for free, a production boost for a building, or pay money and have nothing happen.

*edit* Also, when exactly does the "Storm at Sea" event go obsolete? The one that randomly [And relatively frequently] spawns a storm and sinks one of your boats?

I've asked about this before, but... What exactly makes the AI 'demand' that you make peace with someone?
If you say yes, the war ends (obviously) and you get a temporary(?) bonus to relations with the AI that made the request, and if you say no it's the same as declining a resource or tech request from them.

What I'm curious about is what causes them to make these 'requests' in the first place. What the conditions are for them making the request and etc. I can understand an AI wanting you to make peace with a friend of theirs you're at war with, but I've been bugged about making peace with leaders they hate too.
In my current game, I've been asked by the AI no less than five times now to make peace, four of which I've said yes to since they were either wars I had no interest in fighting or ones I really wanted to get out of. One of these wars was actually against Revolution-spawned rebels!
Funny thing here is that they had only been around for half a dozen turns, and the AI could "no longer tolerate" that war? Ha!

But now Asoka's demanding I make peace with the Maya. What I don't get here is that they both hate each other - a lot. The Maya had razed Asoka's cities, brought in war allies against him, and have had multiple wars with him. They're both utterly Furious with each other, and they're worst enemies.

So why? Why is Asoka wanting me to make peace with the guy? I say no and suddenly Asoka's angry because I "refused to help him".
Shouldn't the AI only make these demands if they're Pleased or Friendly with the leader you're at war with? From what I can tell there's no easy way to disable these demands, other than dialing up the leader and telling them to stop bothering you, which I really don't want to do with leaders I'm Friendly with. I'm not Friendly with Asoka (anymore), so after I said 'No' to him I told him to stop bugging me, but still... Wouldn't it make more sense if the AI did not beg you to make peace with leaders they hate? :)

After Afforess took AND to the level of Diplomacy it has now no more work has been done in that area. Even C2C, iirc, has the same Diplomacy options as AND. And I don't remember who made the Diplomacy mod to begin with anymore. I think it involves Python.

I see... Does this only come up when Advanced Diplomacy is enabled? I usually play with it on ^^

Yes.
