Im in a game about 250 turns along, normal speed, normal map and no matter what I do the game CTD then next turn. I have Rise Of Mankind 2.8 and AND 1.53. If you could help it would be great thanks

A New Dawn 1.73beta3 standard installation
The game won't load, it crashes.

I've played 700turns (snail, large) and it runs with no flaws, but I'm not able to load it. (Saved after 3hours gameplay)

Os79, not as far as I know. :)

ahhhh 1.53, those were the easier times, no field-hospitals to worry about, health and :) were everywhere... *sniff* I just got a lil bit nostalgic

Wrong thread. Please keep Beta topics in the Beta thread; this one is for official releases only.

As for your problem, did you change or modify your files, mid-game?

Really? I don't remember 1.5x series to be the "good ol' days." So many fewer features; so many bugs. You'd be surprised how much you dislike 1.53 if you used it now.

Do you have personalized map turned on? Because I think landmarks are somehow eating up huge amounts of memory.
No, they aren't actually. It doesn't use any additional memory.

Anyway, I know why Personalized maps where causing issues, and think I have it fixed in the SVN, I just need to run some tests.

okay so I downloaded and installed rom 2.91 and it works fine, but when I installed AND 1.72 it keeps crashing before it starts

1.72 is a lost cause, due to buggy code that Afforess merged with it. Try the 1.73 Beta 3 instead.

okay ive looked for it but i cant seem to find 1.73. could u post a link?

never mind i found it but thanks

Hey everyone,

I'm having a bit of a problem with "A new dawn", that i only just noticed.

As you can (hopefully) see in the 2 screenies I attached, there seems to be some issue with luxury ressources. I have a winery and a cart path right next to the city, but, and on the square info it says that I'm getting wine, but in the city screen I only get "strategic resources".

Hopefully someone can help me out here.

edit:
I did some digging and I found something:
I had started the game over because at first i disabled "Assimilation" in the game options, and the conquered cities still kept theit tag (native culture eg: france, germany,.. whatnot) but I was unable to build the "non-UB"-buildings in those cities. eg: I could not build axemen nor phalaxes in a conquered greek city. BUT.... here it comes: I was getting luxury resources normally.

For the new game i enabled assimilation, and I'm able to build the corrensponding UU's and UB's but I get the problem mentioned originally (not getting luxury ressources cnnected)

oh I absolutely agree, I just found it funny to see a bugreport for such an old version

Hey

These things have worried me for a while, though lacking time to learn python again modding is not my thing for the moment. I have a few suggestions though.
  1. Concerning the governor or whatever who suggests buildings to build. I like it in general, it makes choosing buildings faster. However, it seems to be flawed, in my opinion.
    • Buildings producing resources, like the glassmith or whatever, are way to overvalued. 1 extra engeneer isn't really worth it in a size three city, and considering you already have like 15 glass resources, that's definitely not it either.
    • Buildings providing production ponus to certain buildings or units are overvalued. Like the treadmill crane and the field hospital. Additionally, the treadmill crane is one I won't build in any city producing military units. And also, why is it so overvalued when I already have a Castle, which is the only thing it helps with?
  2. Would it be possible (if one knew the python language and modding apis) to create a button for the governor to "ignore this building" when suggesting buildings?
  3. Now, I have stopped making paratroopers, finding them useless, so I haven't tried them since many updates ago. Are they capable of attacking upon landing turn now? If not, how could we go about solving this? (element of surprise being the whole point of paratroopers). Remember I used to give them blitz from the start in the xml's, but it kinda felt like chating when it wasn't already in the mod.

Thanks again for the lovely modmod.

Just a general note: The treadmill crane gives +15% production, and -15% military unit production. This means it gives +15% production towards buildings. It makes it a very useful building.

No, you could not restrict the recommended buildings via python. If you wanted to get into SDK modding, you could. Alternatively, you could just let the City Governor choose the production for smaller cities.

I can't tell if this is a bug or not. I tried loading beta 1.73 and ended up having to uninstall all of Civ4 and BTS, then reload Civ4 w/ patches 1.61 & 1.74, then reload BTS w/ patches 3.13, 3.17 & 3.19. Then I loaded RoM 2.9 and AND 2.53. Now, whenever I start a RoM game, the city bars appear, but no city on the main map. I checked by just running up BTS without the mod, and the city appears there. I may be just too tired to see what I am missing, but can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this?

First off, when you re-install Civ, you only have to install the very latest patch; Civ patches contain the changes from all previous patches. Further, if the re-installing the game is unrelated to the bug, why mention it?

In the first sentence, you state you are using 1.73 beta, but then you say AND 2.53. Which is it?

Also, could you post a screenshot? I have a hard time helping people without a clear and distinct report.

Thanks. ;)

For some reason, this machine, an HP I HAD to buy for reasons too obscure to go into, will not just run the patches without going in the order I have.

I went back to 1.53 to start out in the last known config that worked.

I just installed 1.72 and the 1.72B patch, so let me run that up and get back to you.
