Post count in IOT subforum?

Beyond 2,000, the level to trigger the last forum perk, I see no need for postcount at all. I vote that all postcount top out at 2,000.

Post count should COUNT the number of POSTS that have been made by that person. Not count the number of posts, but exclude/subtract a number that arbitrarily don't meet certain arbitrary quality thresholds that are arbitrarily decided.

Doesn't PM inbox space scale with post count above that though? I recall my inbox space jumping from 300 to 500 (IIRC) when I hit 3K.

When I see one or two-line posts often still counting towards post count in other parts of the forum and see the multi-paragraph posts of IOT not counting towards PC, I quickly become of the opinion deciding whole areas of the forum to be worthy or not of PC is kind of strange. I think spam being reported and deleted would be a more efficient solution if reserving PC for more detailed post is the ultimate goal.

Ergo I vote yes for post count.

Consider spam is still heavily discouraged by GMs and if you post one-liners too much the GM often threatens to flag such posts simply to avoid clutter.

That would be even worse than having no postcount. Yuck.

Or enable postcount everywhere, but make it private :)

My signature sums up how I feel about mah postcount. And mah jerbs. :p

(If it is a bit on the nose, tell me and I will remove it. Please don't ban me. :p )

I would stack many of my one liners against the typical IOT post in terms of worthiness.

This might have been accurate back when IOT was in its forum game days, but there has been a substantial increase of post quality since it got its own subforum and players started cleaning their act. At this point I feel like IOT posts have more quality than the average OT post, especially ones that contain stories and such.

That's how some forums do it. I find it irritating, especially on the forum where post count determines access to certain hidden forums. I prefer to see how far along the ladder I am when going up the ranks (since I'm not a spammer by nature, it's taking me more years than a lot of people there...).

Is the post count in the staff forum still turned on? (I assume there was one to begin with, since I lost a heckuva lot of PC after reverting to a regular member).

I don't participate in IOT, so I have no idea of the quality of the writing. It's just what seems fair, for all the posts to count.

Postcount in the user infraction forum was turned off at some point, so we all lost lots of pc for all the infractions we issued (), it wasn't just you who lost that postcount.

So if my infraction rate dropped at some point, that could be explained by the loss of post count incentive to spam the infraction threads?

But I made some quality posts elsewhere. Just ask Padma, when we talked about the giant pink gorilla in his living room. I gave him some excellent advice on what to do about that. Isn't that worth post count?

The main staff forum still has post count, it's just the report forum, infraction forum and recycling bin that do not. The only lost post count is from the infraction forum, after the database table was rebuilt (or something).

Possibly, if the moderator staff felt that pc was more easily achieved by infracting you than chatting about forum issues.

I don't care how high my post count is, I just want to friggin know WHAT it is. Statistics shouldn't be biased like this.

Anyway, why do the admins even concern themselves from blocking epeen growth? It seems pretty harmless and inconsequential to me.

Considering the typical IOT post is written by me, and my typical posts are one-liners, I accept your gentlemanly glove slap. We shall meet at dawn, give or take 8 hours.
