Did you notice in that picture of Ms. Jolie that she doesn't really have much of an ear lobe? No, Lara Croft was a stage name of Angelina Jolie

and Super Mario is the Prime Minister of Italy.

Of which my preference is for the former.

I hate the term "strong woman" because most women are strong in some way or other. "Capable" is more suitable. I prefer to see a female character in a video game able to hold her own with the boys, even possibly in a position of command (equal time, of course), but that is not strictly necessary. If there is a sexual relationship to be had in the game, it should be part of the plot and narrative, and not just there to be gratuitous or titillate. What bugs me are the female characters who contribute nothing and are just there to look at.
Of course I like to look at scantily clad women. I really do. But I draw the line at bikini armor. I mean come on. How unbelievable is that? One good sword hit and she's cut in half. She has to be a darn good swordswoman and shield handler to survive even a casual fight. That breaks immersion, and is rather stupid. But hey, it appeals to the 14 year-old demographic. However, there is an old adage: "Never bring a bikini to a sword fight."
Growing up when I did, I'm a sucker for Frank Frazetta's art. His depictions of warriors and others was all about creating visceral emotions in the viewers. His women were both heroes and objects. I was hoping I could find a depiction of his for Red Sonja. No luck though.I hate the term "strong woman" because most women are strong in some way or other. "Capable" is more suitable. Male characters are often depicted carrying huge swords or axes they would be unable to lift IRL.
That's changing but yeah 70s and 80s.
You could probably pick up some of those weapons but they're completely impractical
But..., are they practical? The japanese have a thing for huge swords..
Oh no, we've arrived are weapons and practicality in video games. Abandon ship!
I blame Zardnaar.Oh no, we've arrived are weapons and practicality in video games. Abandon ship!
I don't mind busty female characters. Though I do draw the line when they get to ridiculous levels. When I see female characters made by other people that have large boobs wielding sniper rifles, I'm like (while ignoring her arms, hand and weapon cliping into her boob), "How the hell is she going to wield that wile being so Top Heavy Boobs McKenzie?".I don't like oversized weapons or oversized boobs in games. Nor do I like cartoony characters.
