A well known Christian Actor Kirk Cameron made comments about a controversial issue (same-sex marriage) and some group is pounding him over it. Some people really need to get a life and realize that free speech exists and part of free speech is tolerating views you disagree with.

story from Yahoo News:
Former Growing Pains star Kirk Cameron is taking heat from GLAAD after remarks made on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight.
During Friday's interview, Cameron called homosexuality "unnatural" and "destructive."
"I think that it's unnatural. I think that it's detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization," the actor, who played Mike Seaver on the 1980s TV series, said on the program.

Cameron, who is an evangelical Christian, also spoke out against gay marriage.
"Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don't think anyone else should either," Cameron said. "So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't."
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation issued a statement in response to the actor's recent appearance on the CNN program.

“In this interview, Kirk Cameron sounds even more dated than his 1980s TV character,” said Herndon Graddick, senior director of programs at GLAAD, in a statement. “Cameron is out of step with a growing majority of Americans, particularly people of faith who believe that their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be loved and accepted based on their character and not condemned because of their sexual orientation.”
Graddick also addressed Cameron's remarks regarding gay marriage: “With an increasing number of states recognizing marriage equality, Americans are seeing that marriage is about committed couples who want to make a lifelong promise to take care of and be responsible for each other and that gay and lesbian couples need equal security and legal protections. That’s not ‘redefining’ anything."

So, CFC OT, what do you think, are you sick of LGBTQI(insert more letters as it expands) rights groups acting like big brother, or do you think these groups should make sure everyone is aware that Kirk Cameron is a terrible person.

Meh. He has the right to say stupid things, and I have the right to ignore him when he says them. He's not even anyone important, anyway - just some dated actor.

two people expressed opinions, whats the problem?

do you know what big brother means?

and Cameron dont have the right to define marriage for everyone else, he's just another phony Christian theocrat...

This has nothing to do with "realizing that free speech exists" and everything to do with pointing out that a bigot is saying bigoted things.

Yes I read 1984, these groups would like to see freedom of speech to be taken away from people who share this viewpoint.

I don't see where they said that he shouldn't be allowed to talk. Could you point out where they said he shouldn't have freedom of speech?

...free speech means you shouldn't be criticised for stupid things you say? Buh?

He said a bigoted thing in a liberal venue. Good on the world for slamming him for it. :goodjob:

Who is he and why should we care? I think at this point, I value my neighbor's opinion more than this guy's and that's saying a lot.

you've got it backwards, Cameron says he wants to deny people their religious freedom - the right to marry - and one of his victims doesn't appreciate it.

How is it bigoted?

I personally admire him for expressing a view that he knew he would be criticized for.

I don't know about you - but I consider calling an arbitrary and rather large group of people "destructive" a bigoted statement. Not to say he doesn't have the right to say it, but I consider that at least prejudiced.

Who's Kirk Cameron?

More like 'Actor gets publicity boost for saying something stupid'

Free speech has nothing to do with this. By including that phrase the OP demonstrates ignorance of it.

In other [non] news the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals determined that a student had no right to sue his history teacher for making fun of creationism during a lecture.

Uh, no, he has not taken away anyone's freedom to marry.

He supports a ban on same sex marriage, that violates the religious freedom of people who dont share his views and their right to marry. And frankly I'm offended by this hypocritical theocrat hiding his BS behind Jesus.

Why did they even ask his opinion, considering his appearance as "Buck" in the Left Behind movies and his time spent on that Way of the Master show? Of course he isn't going to favorite it. The man takes Chick tracts seriously. This strikes me as a case of the journalist just looking for a scandal to write about. It's like asking a wizard of the KKK, "How do you feel about Jews?".

I appreciate Cameron and GLAAD's right to free speech.

How OP doesn't see his own double standard here is disappointing.
